It looks like an uninformed plot/storyline Durakken would write. No thank's, I'll pass. The show vastly exceeds my weekly nutritional allotment of Stupid.
-
Quote:Someone who's familiar with Durakken, please tell me if we're being trolled.Quote:For those unfamiliar, it goes something like this:
See a topic.
Think of a completely contrarian stance on said topic.
Make a long winded, unrealistic, weak and uninformed argument for your stance.
Make sure and argue no matter how many facts, stats or truths are stated by others. Never give in no matter how silly you look.
Make some type of insult implying people's intellectual inferiority confuses you.
Ignore anything remotely factual, truthful, level headed, reasoned or correct.
Rinse. Repeat in as many threads as possible.
Actually I think this is more along the lines of the posts he used to make in the old SGU threads where he makes uninformed comments about an episode from what he saw briefly in the advertisements for the next weeks episode. Then someone that actually watched the episode would post excerpts from the script along with a time stamp where it could be located during the episode (at 23:14 characters say . . . or "x" happens) proving him wrong.
So what I believe we are seeing is Durakken saw something in passing or observed a part of a conversation in the game, and as usual he let his imagination fill in the rest without doing any further research and then he proceeded to post following the example MentalMaiden provided.
And of course since in his own mind he can't possibly be wrong he's instinctively defensive. -
Glad to hear you got something back. I just hope it was what you were supposed to get.
-
And regardless of the emails everyone should also remember the method of payment they used with NCSoft because M_G brings up a good point to keep in mind if they used a credit card of some type.
While people using Paypal and other forms are seeing refunds immediately. -
This is just speculation then but maybe they are doing refund emails in waves. I hope you hear something from them real soon.
-
Quote:Have you checked your spam folder? On my one account I get NCSoft emails all the time and another of my accounts it's hit or miss. Which is wierd because both accounts use the same email address.I don't know... You'd figure that sometime in the last two weeks (according the the original poster), that either NCsoft support or the poster would have spent the 2 minutes to find that.
On the other hand I didn't get an email about a refund yet, and if I don't soon then I'm going to be extremely annoyed at NCsoft Support & Billing. -
Quote:Paypal does have a bad rep in some corners over how they handle refunds. But glad to hear someone is getting something back.Got two notices from NCSoft that, well, confuse me.
In August, I extended my subscription twice, once to extend my VIP time to September 22nd, another to extend it to October 22nd. So if they're refunding unused balances since September 1, was expecting 14.99 back from the second, and about $10 back on the first, give or take.
Instead, the first payment had 97 cents refunded, and the second payment (full month) had $9.67 refunded.
Paid via PayPal, so that's how the refund was handled, and in fact they were tied to that payment.
Will be curious to see if others report a partial, if it's something unique to Paypal accounts (they're removing processing fees or something) or what. -

Quote:Seriously doubt anyone receiving a refund will see anything credited to their accounts today as CC companies are notorious for holding up payments for a few days until they "clear".Just wondering if anyone received their refund yet, my Bank Balance looking very bleak atm.
Not holding my breath as putting faith into NCsoft would be a very silly move.
My CC is at the same bank as my regular accounts and it takes them 3 days to process funds being transferred from one account to the CC account. -
$1,000 and $500 are way out of my price range for any LTS. The most I could reasonably come up with on my fixed income would be $250.
Now as to the question if I would actually buy an LTS. That depends on how it's set up and what type of business model they are using to keep the game running.
I think it's a very bad sign if LTS's are offered indefinitely for a business model that is solely subscription based.
Every game sub based game I've bought an LTS to has been forced to go F2P after 2 years. Fortunately for me their LTS's were the same price as a years sub so I got my monies worth.
From what I've seen of the F2P hybrid MMO's that offer LTS's it seems to be successful so far for them so it might work here as long as we remain F2P hybrid. -
A company the size of NCSoft most likely has a legal department on retainer to handle such trivialities.

Quote:NCCoin isn't a purchased currency that was used by Paragon Studios. NCSoft was very careful to keep NCCoin seperate from what gets used by it's subsidiary companies games.Spent points I believe you will find difficult to get a court to order a refund for. Unspent will likely come down to how the court interprets the definition given for NCCoin.
Quote:Q: If I am a City of Heroes: Freedom™ player, can I use Paragon Points™ to buy items in the Black Cloud Marketplace
A: No, Paragon Points and NCoin are not interchangeable.
Q: If I purchase NCoin on my Lineage® II Game Account, can I use the NCoin to buy items in the Black Cloud Marketplace?
A: If you have merged your accounts using the NC Account platform, your NCoin wallet is now shared between Aion and Lineage II! If you are still using the NCsoft Master Account, then you must choose which game to apply your NCoin to.
It's quite obvious that this was run thru their legal department before implementing it because only games owned directly by NCSoft can use NCCoin.
Arenanet uses Gems
Paragon Studios used Paragon Points
Good luck trying to convince a judge in a small claims court that they are the same thing. Heck good luck trying to get any money back beyond what NCSoft has acknowledged they will refund. -

Quote:Wait. I thought Atari sold Cryptic to PWE.Cryptic can't... they had to sell themselves to Perfect World Entertainment to stay afloat. CO is kept open as loss leader to have toehold in Western MMOs. They hope that the Star Trek and Neverwinter properties of Cryptic can make the real dough.
So... the thing is to see if PWE would want to buy Paragon Studios so that they have a supers MMO that actually makes money. It is not unknown for a parent company to buy rival products and keep the brands going as a way to dominate a market. -
Meh. The guys prejudices are showing. He's gonna make disparaging remarks about Star Wars but not Star Trek? They go hand in hand. And nothing about Twilight? C'mon that one is the biggest offender of them all.

Quote:Well that was kind of my point. he was a FACT in Time. Rose revived him by turning back the clock and -freezing- him to the point before he died so he can never progress beyond that state. To me that means he should never change, never age. obviously the writers felt differently if they wanted to hint otherwise but to me it just seemed like such a simple concept.
The problem as I see it is that there is so much we don't know about what happened to Jack between the time we last see him as Jack and when we first see him as the Face of Bo.
I think what we see is one of the dangerous results of tampering with a fixed point in time. Whether the cause was deliberate or accidental, immediate or cumulative whatever happened between now and then is one hell of a story we may never see. -
Can we really be sure that the Face of Bo (Capt Jack) won't pop up again? All we really know from past episodes is that Jack returns to life after dying.
-
Quote:He could also be referring to the Doctor's daughter Jenny. The face of Bo (if I spelled that wrong too sorry) did tell the doctor he was not alone, he may not have meant just the master. There are a handfull of other time lord villians that they could pull from , Omega for one as well as the Order of the Black Sun created by Alan Moore, who were the first to engage in a time war with the Time Lords.
-
Quote:Sure! The Doctor hops back to the planet where they made the Doctor's Daughter and he reprograms the equipment to make dupilcates of Amy and Rory, then he takes the duplicates to the planet where they made the slimey goo clone of Amy and makes duplicates of the duplicates. Then he miniturizes the duplictated duplicates, puts them in justice bots disguised as Amy and Rory, and has them replace the original Amy and Rory while they hide out in the TARDIS.
When the Weeping Angels enter the Justice bots to get the duplicated duplicates he traps them in a temporal loop and transports the bots to the black hole where he and Rose defeated the Devil and tosses the Weeping Angels into the black hole with him.

Have a nice rant. -
What, another "fixed point in time"? Lame. There are even ways around that as the Doctor has demonstrated.
I hope they have something more original planned. -
Quote:So they get sent back in time, and Amy or Rory uses one of their cellphones to call the Doctor who goes back in time and brings them back to the future, or the Doctor uses some other wacky timelord/TARDIS trick to find them and bring them back.Yeah I think they've just been building it up for 'teh dramaz'.
Considering that their send off episode involves the angels I'm going to assume they're going to get 'eaten' by the angels with the trick they were initially introduced with. So Amy and Rory will be sent back int ime and spend the remainder of their lives in New York and the Doctor won't be able to 'save' them until he runs into their old selves passing away, but they'll have gotten a full life.
Or something. I'm hoping it's not that simple or easy :P -
Quote:Bad news. Zwill has left the building.Sorry DumpleBerry, but i want to hear that from a redname before i believe it (Are you a disguised one?

This will be my final official communication as a member of Paragon Studios and a representative of NCsoft. I've made the decision to spend some time focusing on family and the job hunt, mostly family. While I love what I do, it often times results in long hours (especially in the weeks leading up to the announcement) and I feel like it's important that I spend some additional time with the wife and kiddos before I jump into my next great adventure.
I've got all of the squishy, touchy, feely stuff out of the way on the other thread, but I just want to reiterate how much being a part of this Community has meant to me. You guys and gals are amazing, inside and out. Much like the team here at Paragon, I have, and hope to someday again, walk through fire with all of you.
This isn't goodbye. I'm staying in gaming. I love building amazing online Communities around games and don't see myself doing anything aside from this. The social experience is why I play online games, and this is where my passion lies.
So until next time...
