Quote:Sorry but I must point out that any communication that is restricted is private regardless if it's between two people, ten people, or more. What makes it private is the fact that it is being restricted from the general public. It's not private communication if you and your friends words can be heard by all each others friends, of which they wouldn't want their chat interface cluttered with random friends talking or discussing topics only the two in question should hear.

Quote:Don't start posting as stupid as some people have. The points have a dollar value. Now, that value can vary since you get bonus points on large purchases. I bought $100 at once for my main account. And.... I still think the increased storage items are too expensive and will not buy them. Unless, of course, they go on sale with a sufficient discount that I perceive them as having value commensurate to their cost.
You did notice the emote that indicates the post wasn't meant to be taken seriously right? Or has reading eryq2's posts scrambled your brain to the point where you can't tell the difference between a serious post and a light hearted post. If it's the latter I strongly urge you to go sit in a comfy chair with a pangalactic gargleblaster and watch 8 hours of Monty Python or the Three Stooges. -
Quote:Newsflash bunny. That isn't my suggestion. What you quoted and deliberately misinterpreted is what I do with the current system that the devs have had in the game for the past 8 years. We've always had the ability to opt out of channelsVery good of you. But the suggestion wasn't to opt OUT but to opt IN. And since the idea was a NEW free chat not what you already have. See this way VIPs DON'T have to do anything unless they wish to see it. Your way is that everyone that pays has to opt OUT and set things up.
My suggestion is to expand the friends channel to include global friends that way F2Pers can talk to anyone that agreed to be friends with them regardless of what character and server they are on. -
Quote:So how much of a discount on "free" do you think you'll get if they go on sale?Or I can choose not to buy it at all. I have a boatload of points, which has little to no bearing on the fact I think they are too expensive. If they go on sale, I might buy if they are cheap enough.
-
Nope. Character slots were never sold individually for $9.99.
-
The company decided on what they feel is good price for an account-wide purchase for the people that gotta have everything now. As a VIP you can choose to simply wait and get it in a few months for free once you've saved up enough points.

Redside is easy. If the stuff for sale in the stores are too low in the zone your in just move up to the next zone. There are only 7 zones.
Mercy 1-8
Port Oakes 5-15
Cap Au Diablo 10-20
Sharkhead Island 20-30
Nerva Archipelago 25-40
St Martial 30-40
Grandville 40-50 -
Quote:Odd definition of what personal and private means. The only people that can see a player on friends channel are the people that have them on their friends list, and they can't respond unless they are also on that players friends list. That's pretty personal and private.Friend channel, while an okay workaround, is not personal or private communication, tells are. Additionally you just said that in order for it to work, both parties must have each other on their friends list to work and if either of you switches to a different character you have to re-add each other over again.
Furthermore expanding the friends channel to include global friends would eliminate the need to add individual characters to the friends list because global friends automatically puts you on each others global friends lists and that list spans every server. -
Quote:Free Chat channel; which works as following.
1) VIP have to choose to see it, so if they dont want to see it the VIPs are already opted out.
Just want to point out that we can already opt out of listening to specific channels by editing our chat box. This is one of the first things I do on every character.
I have one tab set up to display what I feel are my most important communications channels.
My second tab has the channels that provide me with in game messages that I want to keep track of.
My third tab has the less important chat channels that I rarely pay attention to. -

- Free-players may freely send tells to Global friends: You're not likely to befriend someone selling you powerlevelling services for $9.99. So why not let them be able to talk to you if they have your 'blessing', and even allow them to send tells to other free players who are on their friend list?
Uhm just an FYI, the Friends channel already works that way server wide. Free players can talk to anyone on their /friends list as long as the people they are talking to have them on their /friends list as well.
That being said I have no objection if the devs could expand friend channel access to include global friends. -
Buy her a cheap copy of the game off of Amazon. That'll get her a month as a VIP and access to MM's during that time frame. Then when it expires she'll drop to Premium.

There will always be people willing to make a few bucks by selling their accounts to RMT companies when they decide to quit a game.

Quote:And if I had just won the lottery a world wide cruise round the world would seem pretty cheap to me. It's not cheap it's expensive. The more characters you have available the better return you get for your investment, but it is by no means cheap.
Nice try but I only make eight grand a year, and it's still a bargain. -
Quote:The company doesn't care if you choose to only play one character, or just on one server. The people that do that are in the minority. The majority of players have many characters on many servers and for them it's a bargain. So enhancement slots are a steal at their current price because every player is supposed to have 200 characters? Am I supposed to just make characters so I can feel the "value" of those enhancement slots, or am I expected to actually somehow play 200 characters across every server? Actually, don't answer that. Because either answer is dumb.
Sure the company could probably make a lot more money off of players if they sold them on an individual character basis. Most players wouldn't think twice about dropping 400 points on each tray per character. But that's only because people, in general, are stupid. One only has to work in customer service to learn that little fact of life. -
And since both Warburg and the Arena already operate the way the OP wants there is no reason to change the other PvP zones.

Quote:In China they actually have prisoners working for RMT.Me either, I couldn't understand why so many seem so adamantly against something I couldn't see anything but postives from. I didn't think being able to reply-only to tells would be useable by RMTers.
However, I've recently been informed that indeed, RMTers will abuse being able to reply to tells. By sitting around and waiting for someone to try and invite them with one I suppose, still not sure on the specifics...

Yes I am sick and tired of filling up my ignore and gignore lists with RMT spam each and every time I log into the game and then have to go thru the lists so the real players I actually want to keep on ignore don't accidentally get removed. I don't pay $15 bucks a month to deal with that crap. -
Just because the service is automated isn't justification for lowering the price. From looking at other hybrid MMO's in the industry it seems to be in the same price range. Some are lower, some are higher, and some are right around ten bucks.

Quote:Yes, if it's done by the same person and it's done in fairly rapid succession.Isn't there also a forum rule against posting the same thing over and over?
For example
One person starting multiple rage rants about the same topic ove the course of one to several days.
A person repeatedly starting the same thread after it's been locked or deleted by the Mods.
Or even posting a continuing thread on another persons behalf after they've been suspended or banned. -
Quote:I don't see what good a three day suspension would do. I think he was making new free accounts each time he got genericed. If it was the same guy, after 3 rabid generics like that, you can bet he ended up with a 3 day suspension.
Quote:Although WHY he got generic'd for a historical figure I have no idea! That's... Silly!
I don't know just guessing on my part. -
What PvPers? They left when I13 killed PvP.
-
I saw three Doc Holidays get gen'd in one afternoon last week. Pretty sure it was the same player each time. Costume was identical but the character name and global name spelling changed each time to get around the ban.

Quote:/This.Selling Inf on the market won't help stop RMTers, in fact it'll probably make it worse because they *can* farm 24/7 and then re-sell the inf at just below the market price which makes it much more attractive because you know that you're getting a good deal (as opposed to the fairly nebulous pricing at the moment).
Not only that, but it would inevitably lead to massive inflation, which means you'd be exactly as badly off as you are now. If you could just buy inf at will then all the recipe and IO prices would rapidly skyrocket and you'd only be able to afford the best gear if you could literally afford to pay real money it, because no amount of farming would allow you to catch up with someone rich.
Edit: Also, if you're taking 20 hours in the AE to get 1 or 2 IOs then you're doing it wrong. All the non-Purple, non-PvP IOs can be had for 1 or 2 HVM which are available once every 40 hours per character for around 2 hours work. Convert 2 merits into one LoTG Recharge, Kinetic Combat or similar high-value recipe and sell it for 100+ million, which will quickly allow you to afford whatever you want.
I've seen RMT spam and gotten emails offering 2 billion inf as low as $9.99. They don't give a damn how cheaply they have to sell it as long as they get your credit card numbers. -
I think that's a bug. I believe it's supposed to remember your settings for all your characters.
