Then you must not be very familiar with the forums or the use of the smilies. The responses in this thread haven't been even remotely uncivil.

Quote:Seriously what game have you been playing because it hasn't been City of Heroes. The value of subscribing has gone down because so much stuff is now free, yet the cost of subscribing has remained the same. The amount of new content for subscribers isn't at a faster rate than before. So overall subscribers get less for their money than they did before CoH went F2P.
I think this is a bad thing.
Here's just a few things VIP's got in the past month since switching to the new hybrid business model.
Going Rogue free for VIP's that haven't bought it as long as the account id active

Increased the number of slots per server from 36 to 48

Now compare that to what we got 1 month after the game launched back in 2004.
Go ahead we'll wait.
What's the matter. You want to try to compare the amount of content we got over a period of seven and a half YEARS to what we've gotten during the past month since Freedom launched? Pardon our howls of derisive laughter at that idea.
Edit Or are you actually arguing that we should pay less because we get more for free? That's even more hilarious. -
Well it doesn't hurt to ask the CS/Billing dept but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Expect to be told "No".

Quote:Fortunately that is not the logic nor the argument being made so there is no reason for the devs to let people start at level 50.Honestly, if the logic behind keeping it this way is "Well why do all the boring low level stuff when I can skip my way to 50 where I have fun" and the Devs agree with it, they may as well just let us make characters that start at 50.
The logic and argument being made is that the devs now need to add a ton of low level content to replace the original content they ripped out of the beginning levels of the game.

Notice anything different?
Now no one is saying that they weren't tired of running the old content. Hell we've been running it for almost 8 years of course it's going to feel old. But it only took a week for us to get sick of Matthew Habashy and his new linear story arc players are forced to go thru.
One can only hope the devs plan on adding new missions to the old contacts to keep players interested because we've all seen how successful having to go thru the same linear storyline has been for Villains and Praetoria. -
Quote:So cancel your subs and pay for everything extra you want instead of saving your points and getting it for free. You'll win because you can spend that $15 bucks in the store on points, the company wins because they'll still be getting your money, and we'll win because you won't be able to post anymore.I've been with this game for years so I already have everything unlocked. I'm having trouble justifying staying subscribed for the horrible iTrials and SSA. (Which is basically all VIPs get.)
Everyones happy. -
Quote:Yes it is entirely true, and the only difference between now and pre-Freedom is that when the devs used to release new boosters and Editions with new goodies people had to wait and save up real money to buy them instead of waiting to save up free points and getting them for nothing. That's not entirely true. If the devs keep a content stream up at this pace, there is more content being generated than there is free points, so there's no way you can get everything just by waiting. Aside from waiting for sales, waiting just creates even more content that you may wish to buy.
And if the devs are adding new stuff to the game faster than you can get it for free, Boo frelling Hoo. Patience is a virtue. Adding new stuff to the game is always a good thing. -
Quote:This is the one I was shown and it was a real PITA to use. Always takes me 10-15 minutes to get thru the map and under PI.easier way is:
#0. make sure you have an ouro portal or base tper or something.
#1. Go to peregrine Island
#2. head to the south eastern map edge when you get near it make sure to stay in the water so you hit the wall instead of going to Talos Island.
#3. from the corner swim north pushing against the western zone wall
#4. within 200-300 feet you'll hit a "snag" its basically a corner in the wall.
#5. swim directly into the corner of the "snag" and you can push through or if you can't push through jump a little bit.
#6. you are now outside the join wall so open your map and target the arena the go run off the edge.
#7. proceed to your marker making sure not to go to high or you'll pop back up through the ground.
#8. when directly under the arena type /stuck.
Same place just faster then logging and doesn't require a fly power. -
No oops, My "yes" was responding to the names of the rooms you posted I merely edited out the one about the council because it wasn't in my post. I suppose I could have cut the part about the Matrix Room as well. I just didn't think you'd mind.
-
Quote:I did it as a hero. If it's a bug then I'm not complaining, I'm keeping it.Did you do it as a hero? Or as a villain then switched sides?
For example, this Vigilante character of mine has Arriviste, not Trusting. -
Then why do I have a hero with the Arriviste badge? I got it for selling the Malleus Mundi thingy.
-
Yep. Pre-formed teams and leagues don't let outsiders join from the queue. The queue isn't broken, people are just choosing to block it.

Quote:BTW, I preface this by saying I am currently a VIP, but won't be one soon, no matter what the devs do. I have no vested interest in what actually happens to VIP players, this is just honest perplexitude.
I hate to state the obvious, but don't they already pay? They only get a third of their money's worth in points, not even enough to buy the powersets and costume pieces (more like a tenth of the money required to).
These are the people who've supported you for day one, and a lot of months in between more than I ever did that's for sure. I just don't get why you'd crap on them, even from a business perspective it seems an absurd quickster-esque move.
Obviously they needed more money, isn't that what premiums are for? People who wouldn't otherwise pay you anything are now paying you something. Isn't that the whole point? Do you really expect them to be more profitable than VIPs? No one is more profitable to your business than a VIP.
Even if you give them everything, you lose nothing. They pay every month to keep access to the new goodies you continue to give them. Yet you expect people to pay monthly and then pay more on top of that for content that used to be included?
What am I missing? This horse isn't dead enough for me.
VIP's can get everything for free by exercising patience. The only people that end up paying money are the ones that desire instant gratification. -
Quote:Yes.AKA the staff lounge and the dev dungeon?
I think it is. I haven't been there in the past few weeks, though.
Quote:1. Go to peregrine Island
2. Head far north to Cutlass Isle (the one with all the monkeys) and find the half-sunken door
3. toggle a flight power and log out
4. log back in, you will be under the map.
5. Fly south towards the arena
6. The arena will have two large room boxes on top of one another, fly under the bottom most one.
7. type /stuck
8. ???
9. PROFIT!!!
10. Make sure you have something to teleport you out. -
-
I do wish they'd add more of those little gems. I get a kick out of finding them.
-
There's a couple places but giving away the locations spoils the fun of finding them. I will give you two hints. There's one in Faultline and another in Grandville.
I don't think it's possible to get to the original Arena Matrix room anymore.

Quote:Wearing nondescript clothing has more chance of innocent people being wrongfully identified by the criminal element as the person responsible for standing up to them and any revenge could easily fall on their heads as a result.Never said it was a bad idea, but there are easier ways to hide your identity than crafting a costume. IMO, wearing a costume is worse than going around in nondescript clothes and helping people. If I go around and defeat criminals, then all the description criminals can determine is basic characteristics. Most characteristics can be hidden with a hoodie and sunglasses. Costumes create identities and identities cause problems. There is also the problem of when a hero gets unmasked. If anyone wants to get payback on Phoenix Jones, then now they can. A nondescript hero does not have to worry about it since they could be anyone. Kind of hard to get payback on someone when there could be hundreds of people with hoodies and sunglasses fighting crime with none of them knowing who the other crimefighters are. We could create a group like Anonymous except we fight crime instead of hacking. IMO this is the "real life superheroes" of the near future instead of the current style of "real life superheroes".
Dressing in a unique concealing outfit means you won't be confused with the do-gooder just because you had the misfortune to be born the same size and build and hasppened to be wearing the same color hoodie and sunglasses the next day when you went out shopping, jogging, whatever.
Quote:Having a camera crew is irresponsible because it is dangerous to take them into certain situations. A personal camera would work just as well. Quote:oi...we've gone over this several times, the camera crew contacted him, not the other way around.
3. Journalists like the camera crew know full well the risks they are taking when they accept dangerous assignments. That's part of the job and they know that they are responsible for their own safety. -
Quote:Yeah wearing a costume to hide your identity is silly because criminals have never been known to seek revenge on the families of people that stand up to them. They've never driven by a house or a public street and do a drive by shooting. As far as these real life superheroes, it is good that they are trying to help other people, but their desire to help seems secondary when they wear a costume and have a camera crew. It is just like someone saves your life and asks for $50. It just cheapens a noble act.
And video taping your actions is another silly idea because we all know that once arrested the criminal always confesses to his crimes and never, ever lies or tries to blame someone else, like pretending they were the innocent victim.
Nope criminals are all just a bunch of misunderstood cuddle-wuddle bears, and anyone using common sense tactics to stand up to them and bring them to justice is only a money grubbing fame-*****. -
What would really be cool is if the devs would right a script that summons one of the Giant Nightmares and smooshes the RMT spammer when they ban them.
-
I know some of the questions being asked sound strange, but we've had some strange encounters that led us to ask those questions.
For example, back when the AE was still new and the Epic Archetypes were still locked behind having to get a character to level 50 before you could play one, I met a player who was on a PeaceBringer. He was level 42 or 43 I think. He had his 6 month Vet badge and he still didn't know how to get out of Atlas Park and I had to explain what enhancements were because he didn't know how to use them.
Anyway I hope your enjoying the game and will stick around a long time. -
