Nevermind! One of my bases just attacked me. I'm so happy. I really like the Scorpion Turrets I managed to get for my hero base during that base badge bug that let me buy them.

And just because you're getting server transfer tokens doesn't mean you're getting back money either. Or do you not remember the limited periods where the devs offered infinite server transfers for free? OMG, better cash in on that and we could all become millionaires! Or bank on it giving us unlimited months of subscriptions somehow!!

No, no one's paying you to play the game. A service has just changed distribution methods and now you spend less on that particular service. Even if that saved revenue isn't countered by your increased spending on other new things in the market and you keep more money in your pocket, the same result occurs when you just budget your money better.

Basically, you were just spending a ridiculous amount before...too much, in fact. Anything you're saving now most likely just counters that overspending.
Hardly overspending anything since I'm on a fixed income and I only spend what I manage to save each month after I pay my bills. I don't even have a real credit card, just my ATM which doesn't let me spend more than what's in my account. So you're argument that I spend ridiculous amounts of money and overspend is merely a figment of your imagination.

I've learned how to live on a tight budget and get the most value possible for what little money I actually get.

I'm getting paid in store credit, and services, which is as good as the real money I spend on this game since I would have been spending it here anyway. Not having to spend it on items I would have bought anyway means I can spend that money on other things like the other game I mentioned.

    Kudos.

Well, when $16 bucks pops back up on my account after I pay my monthly subscription, maybe then posters won't be laughing in your face.

Frankly, for the past 2 months, I probably clock in around 2-4 hours of playtime a week but I use the forums far more. Reward tokens? Server Transfers? They mean exactly *zero* to me (I'd prefer name change tokens, honestly)...And since you cannot trade unneeded services for a desired service (reward tokens for a month's subscription, server transfers for name changes, etc.) you cannot equate *freebies* to money.

Like...in todays paper, there's a coupon for 2 free ice-cream sandwiches from a certain store in town. It's advertised as "It's like getting the newspaper for free!" Well, yeah...if I were going to that specific store and wanted ice-cream sandwiches. For me, it's like getting the newspaper which comes with 2 ice-cream sandwiches for my nephew...for the price of wasting my damn gas driving to that store >_>.
The problem with your argument is that I am going to the Paragon Market, and I am using the store credit I am getting for being subscribed, so I am spending less on the game now than before Freedom launched when I had to pay for server transfers, respecs, and the occasional boosters for my multiple accounts.

And the extra cash I'm saving from not spending it on CoH is being spent on a new MMO that's getting released on Christmas, and will cover my subscription there.

They did. But as with everything else they found something else to complain about. This is just the next FOTM item added to the store to complain about.

Complaining about store prices is going to be the new thing to kvetch about each month. So just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I might as well ascribe a monetary value to all the costume packs the F2P players have to buy. Do I get a $10 check every time they add a new powerset that's free for VIP? I understand what you're saying, but I categorically disagree with you.
You are free to believe and disagree with whatever you like. Oh and just for clarification I didn't give tangible monetary amounts to the items I listed NCSoft did when they started selling them.

Nothing screwy about having patience and getting the perks for free. If you feel that you want everything as soon as it's released then the consequence is that you have to pay cash for it.

Me, I'm in the middle of the road. Some things I'll get right away because I can afford it, and others I can wait for because it's a game, and there's nothing I absolutely have to have to play. Heck I can even let my sub lapse for a couple of months if I really wanted to buy some things in the store because I'd still get to play.

Nope. The company is paying me to play. The subs run as follows

    1 month: $14.99*
3 months: $41.85* (equivalent to $13.95 per month)
6 months: $77.70* (equivalent to $12.95 per month)
12 months: $143.40* (equivalent to $11.95 per month)

Now each month with my sub I get a server transfer that normally costs me $9.99
550 points to use in the store that normally costs me $6.87
and a Reward Token that sells for $15.00 in the new Paragon Market (and deny it all you want but Reward Tokens now have a monetary value since we get them for every $15 bucks we spend in the store.)

That's $31.86 I'm not spending each month on the game. When I compare the value of my perks to my subscription I get the following.

If my sub is Monthly NCSoft is paying me $16.87 a month to keep my account active.
If my sub is Quarterly they pay me $17.91 a month to keep my account active.
If my sub is biannual they pay me $18.91 a month to keep my account active.
And if my sub is Annual they pay me $19.91 a month to keep my account active.

I'm not technically arguing that the Devs should start selling it in the Paragon Market tomorrow. But by the same token I see no logical reason why the Devs could not (or perhaps should not) eventually sell it there at some point. The only reason holding them back is that the Devs -want- to be arbitrarily restrictive about it and as time goes on that excuse seems to become more and more silly. *shrugs*
We've been told it's not the devs decision. Someone in authority has said no and the policy won't change until they leave the company. Put the blame where it really belongs. On corporate.

Glad you like it. I'm not going to shed any tears over someone that thinks $6. bucks is too expensive to spend on this game. That $6 bucks is also going to get the Free players access to additional chat channels, the ability to join SG's, and access to in game emails. That's a lot for a measly 500 points.

Now for me TW isn't high on my list of things I want to get. I'll get it eventually, maybe even next month but I don't play melee characters that much.

And we are all slightly insane. The real loons you have to be wary of are the nutters that insist they aren't crazy.

Sounds like something people do every single day when they go out shopping. Do I buy the new doodad as soon as it shows up on the shelves or do I wait and get it when it goes on sale. Do I spend a little extra to get it immediately so I can show off to the Joneses or do I get that other thing I want and get this thing later. Do I show a little maturity and budget my expenses or do I throw a tantrum like a spoiled 5 year old screaming "BUT I WANT IT NAO!" The choice is up to the individual.
  15. The dog costs 500 points. Subscribers get a monthly allotment of 400-550 points for free. Therefore the dog at most costs subscribers 100 points for those not willing to save up their free points.

Who cares what it costs Free or Premium players. They can afford the 500 points from the $15 bucks they are saving by not having a subscription.

The only way the dog could get less expensive for subscribers than free is if they paid us to claim it.

    Eco
Still not seeing the problem. If you only get 400 free points for your monthly stipend the dog only costs 100 paid points. I've seen people in this thread say they'd pay 100 to 400 points for it. So after the free points are taken off the price you guys are paying exactly what you said you'd be willing to pay for it.

So since you never see it being used in the game why would the company decide to sell it since it isn't being used by the people that actually bought the CoH Collectors DvD?

Seems kind of silly to sell something that no one is interested in.

Just pointing out how odd your statement sounds. Personally, I think they should sell the perk pack they used to have for this power again.
  18. So would everyone else that's been asking for this since the day we learned about MM's. We're still waiting.
  19. The only people that "have" to spend money on anything in the store are the "gottahaveitnow" types that don't have the patience it takes to save up their points and maybe even get it on sale, and the Freebs & Prems who can spend some of the sub money they are saving by playing for free.
  20. It don't cost me nuthin till the price exceeds the 550 I get for free each month.

  22. [QUOTE=TheJazMan;3988238]Nobody is forcing them It would be a survey that would potentially impact every player. All it would be is: Hey, survey up. Take 5 mins and let us know where you want this game to go. That type of thing. If they want to then great and if not then so be it.[quote]

If they have to complete the survey in order to log into the game you are forcing them to do something they don't want to do, and it will drive people away from the game. If it's an option they can ignore then most of them will indeed ignore it which means the entire effort was a waste of time.

The fact that many players never go to the forums is their choice. They know the forums exist and how to get here. They aren't ignorant, they simply don't want to get involved. Forcing them to fill out a survey every time they want to play is just going to drive people away, and if the devs made it so it was an option players could choose to answer you'd just find that a very small minority of the player base will use it as the majority of us will ignore it and skip past it as we login to play. No, this is a horrible idea and would be a complete waste of resources and time.

Twinshot's arc, and the equivalent on the Villain side, were intended to get more in depth in teaching about the game. That's precisely why these missions have you doing seemingly "insulting" stuff like talking to a trainer (trainers are actually introduced briefly in the tutorial), explicitly going to the train station, the market, and the AE building (so that you know where they are), later on talking to a Hero Corp Analyst (or Fateweaver), etc. It was a way to introduce these things in a way other than a long wall of text which most players wouldn't read.
The tutorial doesn't teach enough of the bare essentials like it used to. and Twinshot's arc is teaching stuff players have already learned during the first 5 levels of playing, and it's insulting to send them back to go over the things they already learned.

Having run thru the tutorial and the new AP mission arcs I can honestly say that's nothing to be proud of. The new tutorial while pretty doesn't teach new players anything, and the new story-arcs are insulting. Why are players being told about trainers at level 5? That should be either in the tutorial or the first mission upon entering Atlas Park/Mercy Island. The old content was a hell of a lot more informative than this new stuff.
