The devs have highly skilled technicians checking the code for errors and bugs.
Just kidding. -
Please quote exactly what was hostile in my response to your post. I merely asked you to provide evidence to back up your statement, and gave you the same advice you gave me about speaking for other people.
If you think that is being hostile then I suggest you need to take a break, go outside, and relax for a while. -
Quote:Prove it. Post links to a reputable neutral third party that can provide documented proof that the number of customers who said they'd be willing to pay for extra stuff is a small fraction of the CoH customer base.Again, only some of the customers said they'd pay extra for more stuff. A small fraction.
Don't speak for everyone, please.
In other words, Don't speak for everyone, please. -
I honestly would have preferred Throwing Knife powers instead of Archery for the Ninja Mastermind set. In my opinion, which people are free to disagree with, archery is inappropriate for that set. Having to use a bow actually spoils my immersion. I would abslutely love it if the devs would replace those three attacks with throwing knives/shurikens.

Quote:Just out of curiosity, Don't you think it's a little premature for people to get upset and threaten to quit over the number of skins in the pack when we have no idea what the price will be until after the free give away is over? This is my concern too, that it sets a precident. Now I will happily pay for extra skins but the tiny amount of models TW comes with on it's own makes it look as if they took some of skins it was meant to come with and bundled them up into a pack to make extra money. I can't say whether this is true or not but there's just something about the timing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
If the next weapon set comes with six models and they try to charge extra for another four, we'll know that the bar has been set. And that we can kiss goodbye to releases such as Shield Defence where we got 21 models to choose from.
Somehow I feel that Paragon Studios are still getting a feel for how to run their market and seeing what players will buy and what they won't. I'm not quite 'outraged' as such, but I am watching carefully to see what tricks they try to pull next.
If you look on the market, individual weapon skins are selling for 60 points each so unless we see this pack marked at more than 240 points they aren't money grabbing. Heck they may even sell the pack slightly cheaper than it would cost to buy the weapon skins individually.
If they do charge more than 240 I'll support the argument that they're overpriced.
Edit: corrected spelling. -
Quote:No their complaining that the devs are selling us stuff that we told them we'd gladly pay extra for if they'd just put it on the market. Is someone really complaining that some weapon options are currently free? *facepalm*
Damn those dirty devs for listening to their customers and fulfilling their requests and suggestions! -
This decision makes perfect sense to me. Make the weapons pack free and the F2P/Prems that grab it for the cool skins will now want to buy the power set so they can use them.
-
Quote:So now that I have over 800 PP accrued do I finally buy Street Justice or do I buy Titan Weapon with the "free" weapon pack and wait another couple of months?
Personally I like Street Justice more, and the animations for Titan Weapon attacks look stupid for some of the weapons. -
It's the Internet Sam. Rage and vent is what people do here. I just finished beta testing another MMO in a galaxy far far away and there are people nerd raging on their forums about the length of time future server maintenance will take in a game that hasn't even launched yet and has no regular server maintenance schedule posted.
-
Quote:I don't know what game you've been playing but this game has been charging us for extra costume pieces for years. Not only are we already used to paying extra for these things, we've been telling the devs we'd pay cash for these things if they'd put them in the store ever since they sold the first booster pack years ago.Read the rest of my posts. I explain why it's bad. But to reiterate: it's free this time so that we don't object, and so that we get used to the idea of paying extra for these things.
Quote:This sets a precedent for the future that will allow them to start charging for weapon skins.
Quote:And please remember there is a difference between making money and money grabbing.
Quote:E.g. Paragon Studios starts being greedy, so Xanatos cancels his subscription. -
Been asked for thousands of times but still we are ignored. /signed anyway.

Quote:You know we could as a community help solve this problem by doing a little of the policing ourselves. How many people here would be willing to spend a little bit of their time, 15 minutes, to work with everyone else and go through the most common RMT hang out spots and use the tools they have, IE: /ignorespammer. This only works though if everyone works together and at the same time. You just need someone more capable of organizating it than me (I can't organize 3 books on a bookshelf). Hell you could form a league to do it. 16 people should be enough. It won't stop them all but you can stop a few of them.
What you mean players providing a community service like the Taxibots or Search and Rescue? That's crazy talk man. So crazy it just might work.
To make it work they'd have to be undercover or the RMTer's will learn to spot them and wait for them to leave before spamming, or move just out of the Local AoE and spam there.
So no SG membership they can learn to recognize, no common uniforms, no Anti-RMT character names. Players would have to avoid establishing patterns. If the same level 50's keep showing up, they'll be spotted and recognized. Then the RMTers will either move and spam in another instance/location or wait for them to leave. (I've seen this happen in STO and CO when GM's show up to nail RMT)
The group could use Global Channels to organize since RMTers can't tell what channels players are members of, and global channels can restrict membership to invite only. -
Quote:The powerset comes with it's own weapon skins. The weapons pack is an additional set of skins they are offering for free for 2 weeks.Wait...
...they're charging 800 pts for a powerset. And selling the weapon skins SEPARATELY?
Lmao. Money grabbing.
Oh and selling additional weapon skins is no more money grabbing than selling regular costume pieces which is a long established practice in MMO stores.
Edit: Another thing, Players have been suggesting the devs sell weapon skins booster for years in this game (another I recall is a base decorative item booster). So this is more along the lines of the devs giving us what we asked for than being greedy. -
Or you could just move your mouse over to your chat box and toggle off the chat tab that displays the local and help channels when you go to the market.
-
-
This could also lead to some new zone events. The Fire Marshal puts out a call for help from any available heroes. It seems the new dogs have been chasing Catgirls up trees and we need to rescue them so they can go to the big furpile in Pocket D.
-
Would be funny if the dogs were attracted to things like fire hydrants, or if two players dogs met they'd sniff each others butts. The floor butt scooch would be funny as well, or a random leg hump.
-
Oh and just a technicality, you can't go F2P from an active account. You're going Premium. F2P are accounts that have never spent a dime on the game.
-
Quote:Sorry to disappoint you but that wasn't a suggestion that was explaining why what your ranting about isn't feasible.I see you found the first and most obvious of the suggestions. Well done. Keep trying.
Quote:However a dedicated RMT patrol would only need to visit locations of high traffic as these RMTers have been reduced to Local. Hence their ever present appearance at Wentworths.
1. The company can't afford to hire people to stand around waiting for RMTers to show up.
2. Since Local chat has an area of effect RMTers will simply move out of range and keep spamming, thus requiring either even more employees to be
hired to camp the new locations or following to those new locations and leaving the old spot unwatched for RMTers to pop in and spam while the GM's are gone.
But if you are offering to pay the salaries of those patrolling GM's out of your own pocket, maybe the company will consider the issue.
Quote:Oh and there is a difference between avoiding something and ignoring something. See if you can work out the difference next time you cross the road. -
A character's inventory for influence/infamy is capped at 2,000,000,000 for VIP Players and Tier 4 Premium Players, 1,000,000,000 for Tier 3 premiums, 500,000,000 for Tier 2 premiums, and 25,000,000 for all others. It will continue to be earned after that point, but it won't be added to your inventory. (Thus, you can continue making progress towards the inf badges even if you don't have room for it.)
-
Quote:And if that's not happening the problem is on our end not the GM's. It's not the GM's or the devs fault if the players refuse to use the features that will get the RMTer's squelched and flagged. The names in the ignore list being blue does not mean they're online. Like you said, they're just all always blue. You can check that they're not online easily with a /getlocalname. Odds are most or all of them have been banned now. AFAIK, reporting spammers ignores them immediately, and if enough people report them, they're chat-squelched and flagged for a GM to investigate.
Edit: Oh and the getting chat squelched from multiple /ignorespammer reports does work. There's a guy up in Player Questions complaining about how he's been silenced after using the Help channel to look for someone to farm/PL him. -
Quote:It's riffing on the conceit that cars, motorcycles, and scooters/hover bikes are somehow more "natural" than jetpacks, jump packs, piston boots, or rocket boots and thus more acceptable for natural origins.
Truly natural characters should be required to run everywhere and no turning on Sprint; no natural human can run at Sprint's speed for any length of time. Well, maybe if Sprint's endurance cost was multiplied by ten for natural origins.
That's also part of it. -
Quote:If vehicles fell under any origin it would be technology or science for the more outlandish means of travel. They aren't something a character is born with or the result of intense training.I have no idea what women giving birth has to do with Natural origin characters riding motorcycles, but I must say the mental image you summoned up here was... bracing.
The other part of their argument was that only humans could be Natural Origins. -
Ignoring the question is avoiding it.
Quote:Anyone else could see the two suggestions in the first post.
GM employees are limited and they have a hard enough time keeping up with regular petitions/bug reports etc. and even if there was a dedicated RMT patrol they couldn't be everywhere at once -
Quote:It's probably best that we don't have "official" explanations, because some people would insist any other use of the costumes was Doing It Wrong, and we'd have yet another topic to add to the usual causes for forum flame wars. (Seriously, just look at "Kheldians should not be RP'd as anything beside Kheldians" and "we need to restrict Natural origin to only weapon sets and Willpower" threads.)
Don't forget the old "We need vehicles for travel powers because Natural Origin characters don't have wings, or blah, blah, blah."
As if a woman giving birth pops out a motorcycle or car as well as a baby.
