It's funny, because I am absolutely a mocker and anti-fan of the over-analysis (and, often times, completely untrue assumptions made) about other people's work.
Yet, I also enjoy what others may call "deeper" aspects of things. For me, it is just natural and immediate. Not something contrived to try and pass off as a greater.
As for the original Conan movie, while it is certainly overall just a fun action and adventure film, there is a great aspect of depth behind it. And that makes it far more fun for me than just a sword fight and leaping around.
I swear to if they weren't the ones that always brought the beer on game night we'd have never have put up with them.
I can't even begin to guess how many times someone asked why we let them game with us and someone else would reply, "They always bring a couple of cases of beer." -

In this case, I don't think "nerfing" the DFB to kill interest is a viable solution (or a good idea, for that matter), but I still believe some mechanism needs to be in place to serve as a limiter and a reminder that there's more to the game than just that.
I'm well aware that exemplaring for content is a good idea and I wouldn't dream of preventing people from earning anything off the DFB. I'm not even talking about reducing experience or drops or what have you. Again, I don't know what shape this needs to take, but I've seen enough people argue with me that re-running the DFB in the late 20s is the best experience and I've seen enough people in their early 20s apparently unaware that other content exists to be concerned.
Let it be popular, that's OK. But we need some way of telling people that this isn't World of Tanks.
Sam do you mind if I ask if you've tried to see what it's like leveling a character to 50 just doing DfB's? If not please check for yourself and see how leveling gets slower and slower as the character's level rises.
Maybe the people you've been talking to have a group of friends that get together and power play thru DfB's endlessly. Or maybe they are just perpetuating gossip that they heard but never experienced for themselves. -

Honestly, though, I feel like the spot where series 6 ended...they really don't need to be back in series 7 anyway. It was a good closing point for them.
Aren't these the same people that said the "Silence" was the scariest villain the Doctor has ever faced when everyone knows the "Weeping Angels" were the scariest. So I don't put much faith into the description of "Heartbreaking". -
Pretty sure it was a combination of the Cybermen ghosting and the recovery of the prison sphere that was destroying reality.

Other TFs notwithstanding, the DFB in particular needs some form of control mechanism or limiter.

The leveling speed in DFB really does slow down a lot once you hit level 15 or 20. You'd be better off running with level 50 friends in +2 missions because the drops are much better, and you have a shot at purples.
Plus you'd be able to use all those powers that you're getting. Most people will want to have access to the post-level 10 powers they're spending all that time getting, and that's really the limiting factor on how many times a new player will run this trial.
DfB's already have a built in XP taper called leveling.
And the argument that Freebs will PL their way to the level cap using DfB's is silly. Players have been doing that for 8 years, and before Freedom they were paying subs to do it. The DfB is just the current flavor of the month, and it isn't Freebs and Prems that use it to power level. There are plenty of clueless VIP's that do it to. -

You miss the point. I'm not talking about the film itself. I'm talking about the viewers that over-analize things with long winded boring ramblings of the philosophical juxtaposition of the blah blah blah.
Just enjoy the film and keep the pseudo intellectual bull in the college classrooms. Those guys would be mortified to learn how many authors would say that the garbage the pompous intellectuals are spouting never even crossed their minds when they wrote theirs books, they just thought it was a cool story that people would enjoy.
Edit: and for clarification, that's not a jab at E-K. It's a general observation about people I've encountered in real life, not here. -

There was a half mention of possibly considering making the costume unlocks tradeable, maybe. I kind of doubt there's a way to make that happen in the time frame they're looking at, but if it were done then all bets are off on the above.

Why do people have to complicate things with too much thought? Can't a movie simply be about kick-*** sword fights, explosions, and gratuitous nudity?

So what happens when a player gets two of the same costume piece?
Is it "Oh you got a duplicate you can't use? Sucks to be you. Go buy another pack."
Or are these costume pieces only usable by the character that opens the pack?
If the costume piece can only be used by one character, can it be traded to another that can use it before being claimed?
If the costume pieces can be traded before being claimed, will they be account bound or tradable between players?
If they are tradable between players how long do you think it'll be before people start selling them for real money outside the game? (That's one of the current problems STO is having with the ultra rare starship in their xmas grab bag)
IMHO items like costume pieces should not be in these packs unless 1. they aren't ultra rare , 2. there is an alternative method of getting them, and 3. players aren't screwed out of points if they happen to get duplicates they can't use. -
No it isn't, it's $2 dollars vs $6.25. That's a difference of $4.25. If they can't afford it, don't buy it.
It doesn't matter if someone is new to the game or not. Six bucks is a fair price for an animal skeleton that's never been in the game before. Get over it. -
