Quote:192 free character slots available to VIP's with the ability to unlock an additional 576.And roughly 180-190 automatically available character slots.
Also if it wasn't mentioned before, VIP's get access to Going Rogue for free with their sub but lose access to it when they cancel their subs. -
Quote:Forbin. I would say that this isn't the way to show your maturity level. But...considering what you are responding to...I can't say that I blame you.
Sometimes you have to speak to them in their own language.
The thing to remember is to use it sparingly so as not to sink to their level. -
Quote:Hmmm. Use the stuff that drops for free and enjoy playing the game with the occasional stop at a store to sell what I can't use or get my panties is a twist trying to squeeze every last bonus point out of my enhancements every 5 levels while miserably standing around at an NPC store where I'm constantly scrolling thru a seemingly endless list of enhancements with stupid names I can never remember.Super. Do you individually consider whether to slot or combine each and every SO that drops? Or, like virtually every single person I've ever seen talk about enhancing via SOs on any team I have ever been on, do you wait until a multiple of five plus two level and then go fill up your entire build with SOs in a couple of minutes? I can tell you which of these two strategies is a better use of your time!
You are right that there's no accounting for taste however so far be it from me to tell you to stop doing it the first way if that's what you do (which I never attempted to do, you'll notice). I'm sure you realize you could be playing in a more optimal way.
I'll take use the stuff that drops for free, sell the stuff I can't use, and only pay for new enhancements when it's absolutely necessary and sometimes not even then. I've lost count of the times I've let slots remain empty because I wasn't about to spend inf on enhancements that drop for free. -

The genre isn't relevant. The fact that they have larger populations and stricter naming policies and still haven't run out of names is the only thing that matters.
Quote:Give Chewbacca or Samwise Gamgee a different name and the character would be essentially identical.
Quote:Give Batman or Wolverine a different name, and you've just changed a fundamental aspect of the character.
Quote:Fantasy (or fantasy-like) properties can get away with names that are basically gibberish as long as they sound good. Superhero names are typically supposed to mean something specific. A "correct" name means more in this genre than in most, just like a "correct" appearance does.
Quote:(And please, everyone, spare me the exhaustive list of superhero characters whose names don't mean anything in particular like Cable and Etrigan. I'm speaking in generalities here; that's why I used the word "typically.") -
Quote:Believe whatever you like if it helps you feel better.Mocking in and of itself is hostile.
Quote:Next time, rather than asking me to provide "any other bad ideas from failing competitors I'd like to see ruin this game" why not tell me why exactly it's a bad idea and how it would actually cause our game to fail and leave it at that?
And if the best defense for this idea you can come up with is CO does it, well that's easily refuted by the fact games like WoW, SW:TOR. LOTRO, DDO, don't allow it and in fact have even stricter naming policies than we do in that players are only allowed to use one word names. And those games all have larger populations than CO. -
Quote:I hate to burst your bubble but most of my characters use regular enhancements like DO's and SO's. Less than a dozen are mixed IO's and DO/SO's, and only 3-4 are only IO's. Finally, none of my character use IO sets. Just basic IO's.There are no "more valuable" SOs. All you do is sell all of them to the nearest available store because they're all worth the same amount in the aggregate and nobody would ever use them.
And I have over 100+ characters.
So in the future please don't speak for everyone. -

Quote:Aside from the fact that the name freeing script was run after those characters were created. So as long as the names met the criteria of the script they were freed up already. The ones that weren't were never intended to be released by the program the devs made.Apparently not.
While I generally voice strong opposition in threads like this one, I don't see a problem here. Any account that hasn't been touched in over 5 years probably should be fair game. Realistically, the majority of people wouldn't even be able to dig up their original account ID and password (or their serial codes, etc).
And whether or not we agree with the devs they have made it clear they have no intention on running that script again any time in the near future. -
I was getting at that you are neither a nerd, nor a wizard, your quite smart, and have no trouble navigating the forums without acting like the OP.

Quote:A nice addition to the game would be to add a new personal storage bin similar to the Vault where we could place SBE's only and could access the storage from another alt. They could make the container hold the same amount as the number of slots a lvl 50 character has.To be fair about the passing of SBEs to one's alts - with items you can trade, most will fit in an SG base's storage tables. Which can be used to quickly move enhancements (well, quicker - despite the email cooldown it's still fairly quick) between alts on the same server and same side.

Quote:Yeah like it takes a wizard or nerd to count down two spots from this section.I tried finding it only to be redirected here so please show me where I am to post. I'm not a wizard on forums sorry if that bothers you, not all gamers are complete nerds, this girl included.
Oh and just an FYI, some of the smartest gamers on these forums are girls and none of them are nerds. -
I've been playing for something like 8 years and I've never seen inventory fill up so fast that it was necessary to stop and delete drops every ten minutes.

Quote:This isn't the first time he's made inaccurate statements. You weren't really presenting factual "Cons" though, you were presenting your opinion as fact. The first being a strict rule in place to prevent people from flooding the market with these enhancements, the second being...just your average problem, not something specific to the question at hand. Understandable that it irritates you, but not really 'cons' overall.
His persecution complex is amusing to watch. Every time he gets corrected he takes it personally and tries to portray himself as a victim. -
If you were making a suggestion you'd have put this in the Suggestion and Ideas section. Here it's merely a discussion. And if you bothered to use the Search tool before posting like you are supposed to, you wouldn't have made yet another meaningless thread that will only be ignored by the devs.

Quote:Incorrect my friend. Opinions can indeed be wrong. For hundreds of years people held the opinion that the earth was flat and one could fall off the edge.Opinions can't be wrong. But don't worry, we won't hold it against you. No one is perfect.
Others held the opinion that the Sun went around the Earth.
Some people share the opinion that the lunar landings were faked.
And others share the opinion that the CIA blew up the World Trade Center towers.
I could go about some other incorrect opinions but you get the idea. -
Quote:Well your opinion is wrong in this case. But don't worry we won't hold it against you. No one is perfect.Actually, IMO, that was one of the things CO did right. Just because the game is failing doesn't mean all its ideas were bad. They had some fantastic ideas. The bad just outweighed the good.
-
If that's really a problem then the person in question should buy the extra storage that's for sale in the store.

Too little too late. The only reason I got cable years ago was the Sci-Fi network. Since then I've grown so disgusted with the direction their programming has taken I cancelled my cable subscription last August.

Quote:Are you serious? Some people won't be happy until they get an "I Win!" button, and others won't be happy until the game plays itself while they are offline. How lazy ARE you people?
There are stores everywhere, deleting the nearly worthless stuff takes seconds, and there are so many travel powers that you can pop to a store and back in under a minute.
You already get things directly added to your inventory automatically and that isn't convenient enough? -
Quote:Yes CO does do that and CO sucks. Got any other bad ideas from failing competitors you'd like to see ruin this game?Since we have globals, I wouldn't mind seeing a new system brought in where people can have the same name. Would free up all these problems about not being able to come up with a good name 'cause every variation of the two words that describe your character are taken.
I believe CO does this, and Steam has a system in place like this, as well, and I haven't seen any actual issues with either. -
Don't forget they are testing selling alignment changing tokens on the beta test server.
-
Translation: Marketeers can't abuse them by flooding the market with them. If they ant to manipulate the market they can't use the store as a short cut.
Not a Con.
Quote:2) they are hard to move to another character. (thru global e-mail, 20 at a time max, and those 20 take a few minutes cause the 15 sec rule)
While it is annoying it's not a con that is unique to account bound enhancements. -
Quote:Because this past September the game went Free to Play and Free accounts have draconian chat restrictions so they put all the channels Free accounts use on the same tab.I don't know why they suddenly had to force the help channel into your global tab.
I know, you think there's got to be more to it than that. Well there is. Someone at the company, we don't know who, has a very low opinion about the intelligence of Free players. They didn't think Free players are smart enough to figure out how to toggle between tabs or how to edit the channels in their chat tabs.
Don't believe me? Well, just look at the new tutorial. It was dumbed down because it was too hard compared to the old one. In the old tutorial players actually learned vital game mechanics. (If they took the time to read the pop up windows) Now those same mechanics are instead taught during the first AP story arcs.
Like how players aren't taught how to go to a trainer to level up until level 5, because they are too stupid to realize what trainers do during the 4 times they went to a trainer to level up before getting to level 5.
