It only happens to people that put their non combat travel powers in amongst their attack/defense powers. Everyone else arranges the powers in their trays, and moves the trays themselves apart so this doesn't happen by accident.

Usually I start with character concept but sometimes a new power set will spark my imagination. For example the new Beast Mastery set had me reserving a name and designing a costume for a Native American super hero. He's going to be a Medicine Man/Indian Scout for the U.S. Cavalry whose spirit has returned to the modern world.

Quote:Oh please no. If they're gonna do it don't make it like or current teleport. I hate saying this but that other hero game has a much better teleport that would work better as a swarm of bats. This as a reskin of teleport would be outstanding. Other CC emotes could work in a similar manner.
There the character basically goes out of phase for a short period of time and you can move in any direction. That with a swarm of bats aura would be perfect. The character goes out of phase, the swarm of bats appears in it's place and moves to where ever the player wants before reappearing. -

Pfft. The only momentum SGU had was from it's 2 season fall from grace to it's well deserved cancellation. Out of 40 episodes you can count on one hand the ones that weren't painful to watch. The writers of that show should have been punished for crimes against humanity.

Quote:Depending on the character level I prefer transfer/reclaim name. On lowbies who cares. Delete and start over. With Dark Control looming on the horizon, I'm giving some serious thought to rerolling my main. She's currently a Mind/Rad controller with all her powers tinted dark purples or black. The powers weren't terribly important to the concept, though Terrify and Rad's debuffs suited it well, and power customization means a lot of things could be adapted to suit her backstory (oooh, spooky other-worldly entity!). After playing a Dark/Time on beta I think it would suit her just as well and be more effective... so now I'm left with the dilemma?
Delete and reroll? Transfer and reclaim the name? Just start a new character?
What have other people done when they've bumped against this problem? Did your attachment to the character or the thought of redoing so many badges stand in the way? -
Quote:Years ago the devs admitted they made a big mistake requiring a level 50 to unlock EAT's. They were saying that before they added CoV. Getting the requirement lowered was just an issue of other projects having more priority.Yes I spent 9 months getting my first 50, doing missions. Then I finally could get WS and PBs. I am not a big fan of the Villian side, but I stuck it out and slowly built a 50 stalker so I could get Widows and AS' s. Now VIPs can get them at LVL 20? I think so they are way easier to get now then they were.

Quote:Thank you for the advice. Hopefully, it will help.
Keep in mind:
If you are hoping to attract them into the game more fully, you should treat them like Gold not...
Second free players may be purchasing all sorts of stuff to unlock it.
Third, if you don't know how or that you should unlock Global Channels it will hurt your experience.
I may be an idiot, I'm just asking for help idiot proofing finding teams.
We had a huge problem with RMT spam/abuse and the draconian measures you see on the Free accounts are a direct result of those people harassing legitimate customers. The devs have stated they will not reconsider these restrictions, because their primary concern is their paying customers.
Edit: Ah here's the official responses and links to the posts in question.
Quote:In the interest of protecting our existing Community which has always been so loyal, we've chosen to err on the side of curtailing the free players ability to grief.
As we've stated, the cornerstone of CoH has always been, and will continue to be, our veteran Community.
Quote:The good thing is that Global Channel access will be a privilege earned through the Paragon Rewards Program, so if you have a friend who decides to return, and they've been with the game for X number of months, they will have access to Globals.
This helps prevent RMT'rs and other unsavory's from flooding globals, while at the same time allowing you to reconnect with old friends who may have wandered astray from Paragon City (or the Rogue Isles)

Quote:My personal preferences lean toward the Coalition SAMAS Power Armor in Rifts. If they ever made a backpack costume item that worked something like Buzz Lightyear's pack (with wings that folded in while on the ground and snapped out when in the air) I could die happy.

If anyone is on a free account and refuses to spend enough to unlock global channels then they can suck it up and deal with it. You get what you pay for. -
Quote:I do find AT matters far less then the player running the AT. A crappy blaster is probably still going to be a crappy tank, who is an even crapper defender.
Thanks for reminding me. I was on a crappy team doing a DfB recently. We started off with 8 people.
One person stood at the DfB entrance the whole time and his only comments to the team inquiries was "I'm lost."
Two people managed to get themselves killed at the Hellion AV and kept demanding they be rezzed by players who were all Tanks, Blasters, and Scrappers.
When we got to the Vaz AV three of the five remaining players (the two deaders ended up quitting because we "refused" to rez them, and the doofus at the entrance was still claiming to be "lost".) who wanted the badges ignored instructions and started killing minions.
Then when we got to the Lost AV they did just the opposite and managed to kill the AV before the Lost minions were killed. One of them quit then because he didn't like being told that they screwed up the badges themselves by not following instructions.
That left us with four people and the door sitter to finish off the Booger monsters at the end. And after it was over the door sitter got pissed because we disbanded the team and made sure the team leader of the new DfB knew what he did on our previous DfB run.
Don't know what happened to the ones that quit the trial early. They weren't around when we finished and joined the new DfB team. -
Quote:I think my absolute favorites are the:I don't know why I even post on the topic ... I wouldn't use them anyway. LOL
Me too (rage quitting) ... They are so much fun. I enjoy saying nice things to them, which just makes them more mad. (like my EX wife) LOL
Me: "I'm on your side dude. I can't stand this issue either"
Them: "Shut up dude ... I didn't ask you"
Me: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ... You posted here ... So you did. and More laughs."
"I'm gonna sue!"
"This is false advertisement"
"Wait till the BBB get my letter!" and or phone call. -

Quote:Don't get me started on Castles man.More "stuff." Including themes, so I could lock in a "Castle theme," for instance, to look like stonework for a castle and new rooms would take it and the coloring automatically (but be able to be overridden.)
The one on the bottom took over 3000 pieces to build. And I think the dungeon turned was the best part before the base crashed and I had to start over from scratch.

Quote:I'd like to see animated backpack options for fly/superjump as well. They could start with the Goldbricker jet pack. Mostly because I really like it.
Edit: Some might say we already have a sort of animated backpack in the form of wings, but I hate the wing animation. It's way too obtrusive and the contstant flapping doesn't even make sense (it looks downright silly with the tech wings) since large flying animals flap their wings as little as possible.
Tech wings really needs a fixed wing option like the new phoenix wings. -
Quote:Yeah that's why I'd rather see more things added as costume pieces rather than as individual powers.I agree and accept that if that's the case. My biggest beef is also with the lack of customization for them currently.
We already have Power Slide that uses standing animations so why couldn't that have been altered to use Rocket Board with flying? Then they could have added/sold a whole bunch of variations of what we were standing on as costume choices, and because it would use currently existing travel powers they wouldn't have needed to add new animations or detoggling.
They already did this with Wings, Boots, and animated Back Packs.
But I doubt we'll ever get a straight answer. -
Real Money Transfer services. The very people who are the whole reason we have 3 tiers of accounts in the first place with Free accounts having the most draconian restrictions.
Those scumbags are why the devs dropped the hammer on Trial accounts back in Issue 12.
The only thing that has kept their harassment to a minimum since Freedom launched is the fact that they have to spend money to get more chat channels and emails, as well as IO's, MA access, etc.
And that's why the devs will NEVER give out free VIP access to anyone for any reason. -
Quote:Hadn't even thought of the paying for extra ones per character, That would cause even more screaming and rage quitting. not that I don't get a laugh from rage quitting threads.I don't see why not ... as long as they are willing to pay for it. I would only pay for one. Additional ones would be more.
In any case. They, most likely, won't do it anyway. So, doesn't matter. -
Quote:Exactly. I thought it was pretty obvious that mousing over a badge and clicking on the one you want for a title on the personal info window is easier than tabbing and scrolling thru the dozen badge tabs under the Collect window.I think the reason behind it is pretty self-evident. It's simply easier to pick a badge title from your info screen than it is to filter and scroll through your badge list. I'm really not sure why this needed to be explained.

Is it really necessary to give a step by step description to prove it's easier?
1. Sit down . . . in front of a computer . . . that has internet access.
2. Turn the computer on . . . If necessary turn on the Monitor as well.
3. Using the mouse click on the NCSoft Launcher.
4. Once the NCSoft launcher is running select City of Heroes.
5. Click on Play.
6. Type in your Login Name and Password.
7. Press the <Enter> button
8. Select a Server . . . preferably one that you have a character on.
Oh trust me it's easier. Otherwise this will take forever. -
Quote:It would have it's own sever ... when you're inside your apartment, It's just you a citizen of CoH/V.
You would select a building in any city to be your apartment building, when you click the door to it, you move to the apartment/house server. (I would be fine with it being a global apartment too ... all toons/servers connect to it.)Please let's not bring up the global/multi server issue cuz the first thing that will happen is people will start screaming about how each character deserves a different looking global apartment.

Quote:To be honest I think it has something to do with the reason why they chose to not to allow the use of other powers in the first place. (and if anyones seen this before I apologize for reposting it)Also, with the rocketboard, coyote etc. they could easily supress all powers instead of de-toggling, making them more desireable. They seem to be ignoring that possiblity altogether. I really can't understand why.
Quote:It requires the modification of every animation currently existing in the game to work with these movement modes.
Furthermore, it requires every new animation created in the game going forward to be created with these additional movement modes in mind, increasing the number of animations needed for every new power set, emote, etc.
This is not a simple request, it is an exponential increase in time and work for every new animation that is put into the game.
So could the devs do it? most likely they could but I'm guessing the clincher as to why they haven't lies in the very last sentence of Clockwork's response. I think that for every new power set they add to the game they'd have to go back to every single travel power (like Rocket Board and the others) and add suppression for the new power sets.
Not a big deal when it's just Rocket Board, but the work is doubled when add Magic Carpet. Tripled with Coyote, and increases again with each new non combat travel power added. And the work also increases when more than one power set is added like the upcoming Staff Fighting, Beast Mastery, and Dark Control.
So I think detoggling required the least amount of future work to the powers. And that's work they will be able to spend on other aspects of the game.
Now if the devs came and said they could give us a couple of dozen new non combat powers that work like Rocket Board, or only 3-4 that had power suppression or even allowed all powers but the coding was too much work to add more, I have to admit I'd choose to have the couple dozen non combat powers.
To me the variety is more important than the retoggling issue.
BUT . . . if the suppression issue isn't as complicated as I'm admittedly GUESSING then by all means it should be done.
