Quote:He's just mad he's losing the argument in his CoH2 suggestion so he came here to vent.Oh look, the bloody-stupid 'Forum Cartel' straw man again! Not seen that in a while!
Eh, fine by me. I do love the hypocrisy when it comes to ideas, though. i.e. if people don't instantly agree they are clearly some evil, nay-saying forum cartel and not, y'know, going off what they remember from actual Dev comments... -
The newest MMO being developed by NCSoft is WildStar.
http://www.wildstar-online.com/en/
Now is it possible there are two MMO's being worked on? Sure, anythings possible. -
Quote:You'll recall that they never said anything about not laughing in your face while they listened.Though they have said that if a player wants to shell out tons of development money, they're at least open to listen.
*Reaches into back pocket for a few spare million* -
Quote:Why assume that CoH2 would be based in Paragon City and the Rogue Islands?Recreating every zone, mission map, costume part, and animation for a new graphics engine would require so much work that you probably won't find a producer willing to spend that amount of money up front.
I know I'd much prefer a fresh start in a brand new imaginary city. Hell with a new game they could even make it an international world setting with each zone in a different part of the world, space, moon, underwater, dimensions. Be a hero/villain and fight brand new opponents in the Arctic, Europe, Asia, Altantis, South American Jungles, deserts of North Africa, etc, etc, etc. -
Quote:Yep. If the company was willing to compromise their principles to make a quick buck they wouldn't be refusing to add any of a dozen of features players have been begging for for years, like Power Set respecs, re-releasing Power Slide, customizable vehicles, auto leveling, selling influence, etc, etc, etc.But our Devs have a long history of standing by their own principles for their vision of this game regardless of opportunities for quick profit. We may not like their position on this but it is refreshing to know they are willing to stand up to what they believe regardless.
-
Quote:Because the devs, Positron specifically, have said, NO. They have even gone so far as to flat out tell us in a Ustream 3 months ago that if they ever decided to add a feature that allowed us to email offline SG invites they would deliberately design it so we would not be able to send invites to characters on the same account. If people are already taking elaborate steps to accomplish it, and no harm is being done to the integrity of the system, then why not just offer a solution that gives players what they want, while also profiting from it with their new micro-payment model.
As much as we want this to be added to the game, the devs are adamant in their refusal.

Quote:You are right that we have gotten a lot of sets that aren't toggle heavy recently but that could change at any time and we may get a run of toggle heavy sets.To be fair Forbin, a good chunk of those sets don't have any toggles.
My intention of listing the sets was more to illustrate how the work could become overwhelming.
And that's only if my guess is right that suppression would have to be coded separately for each (power in a) set.
I openly admit my theory is based only on an interpretation of what Clockwork said. I have no hard evidence to back up my speculation.
If what I'm guessing at is wrong then by all means use suppression instead of detoggling. -
-
Quote:I'm guessing from Clockwork's response that the last sentence in his post applies to the detoggling issue. By that I mean that each and every toggle has to be coded separately and as new non combat travel powers and new power sets get added it takes longer and longer to get everything coded.Couldn't it at least be reworked to not drop toggles, or maybe put the character into "only affecting self" mode?
For example let's say it takes a week to code Rocket Board for toggles on one new power set. Add Magic carpet and now it's two weeks. Add Coyote and it's three weeks. Now add another power set and it doubles to 6 weeks. A third power set increases it to 9 weeks.
Next question is how often do we get new power sets. Well since Freedom launched we've gotten/will be getting
Beam Rifle
Titan Weapons
Street Justice
Time Manipulation
Beast Mastery
Darkness Control
Staff Fighting
Darkness Affinity
So again I'm guessing by making the non combat powers as they currently are the devs have removed a ton of extra work from the equation and that is allowing them to bring us new power sets and new non combat travel powers a hell of a lot faster than they otherwise could. -
Quote:Well that also falls under the whole not caring about what you skip. You just don't take it to the extremes that some people do. You set yourself a reasonable goal that gets you the boost you want, and then you do the stuff your interested in.Or people (like me
) who have been around for a while and find the game only gets really fun around 22, when SOs come out and builds start to have enough powers to be worthwhile.
I've never used the DfB trial for that, though. Although if its going when I roll, I'll use it to get from 1-8/9 in one go and have a nice little boost for the new character.
I do exactly the same thing you do because I can't stand doing the same starting missions in AP. The DfB is much faster and I'm off to KR in 10 to 15 minutes. -
Quote:Very true! While everyone gets to guide development of this set by voting on the individual pieces, our Player Summit Costume Workshop is the place to go if you want to help choose the high-level theme and begin the process of parting it out. Last I heard, we're definitely planning to do this again at the next Player Summit, so if you want to really get your hands dirty with costume design, you might consider coming out.
Looking forward to seeing you guys there!
No offense Noble but while I am excited about being able to vote, and I appreciate you guys asking for our input in this fashion, I can't help but remember a similar poll that we were asked to participate in about what zone we would like you guys to work on next and now several years have passed and
We are still waiting for our MOON ZONE!!!
If you guys never had any intention of working on what we told you we wanted why even bother including it as a choice?
Anyway I'm hoping this poll doesn't leave me disappointed with the staff like that poll did.

They do the same thing they do when they want to sell other real life items. They make a business agreement with another company to make and package them. The donuts could even be individually wrapped.
Or did you think that NCSoft made their own Heroclicks and other RL items.
Quote:and don't forget packing and shipping costs.
Quote:Plus i doubt that they can send them to the east coast or Europe and still be fresh.
I can even choose the speed in which the purchases gets delivered.
Quote:BTW, since there is meat on the donuts, they can't even ship it out of the country.
Quote:They'll loose money on each of these great donuts they sell.
</sarcasm> -
Oh and OP please be aware that no one so far has said that they don't wish we could place more items. It's just that it's a lot more complicated than simply raising the numerical limit.

Quote:Power Pool set to add Swing...
Grapple Pull: Pulls a mob or multiple mobs to you.
Wrap up: Wraps an enemy up to prevent them from attacking or wraps up the legs of an enemy so they can't move (so the enemy can't move or can't attack for a short period of time)
Swing: Let's you swiiiiing
Hang On: toggle, allows that when you are swing around someone to attach onto you and swing
Reel in: targeted grapple shot that when it hits pulls you quickly to that point
Oh look another swinging travel power suggestion.
<gets popcorn and sits back to watch the upcoming argument> -
Quote:So I forgot to include the word "live" in the first paragraph of my post. Accidents happen TeeJay. I never claimed to be perfect. I know what I was trying to say. Please, don't contradict yourself on my account. You clearly told him that only VIP's have access to Customer Service. In case you've forgotten, I highlighted it in bold text for you.
I expected better of you than to try to claim you were saying something different than what you had said in the post I quoted.
The funny thing about this is that if you had bothered to read the last sentence you might have seen that I said
Seeing that incongruity some people might ask for clarification as to what was being said or give the person the benefit of doubt. But if you want to assume the worst that's fine by me. -

Quote:You really should read that chart again. Premium in-game customer support is only available to VIP customers. Free and Premium customers still get support, but only through the support website by submitting a ticket there. The Live Chat support on that site is for VIP only as well.
NCSoft and Paragon Studios are apparently defining "Live Support" as direct interaction either through a rep appearing in-game as one of the Police Drones and having a conversation with you to resolve your problems or through the Live Chat interface.
All players have access to support through the support site, but only VIP have access to in-game support. That is apparently what they've defined as "self-help support" in that last part you quoted.
Some of us have actually tested those support options and found that non-VIP accounts do indeed have access to those support options.
I know that, and from the tone of the OP's posts it sounded to me like he was using the Live Chat Support on the support website.
Being a premium account he has to wait in queue behind any problems VIP's are having because paying customers take precedence. CS Reps aren't going to sit around twiddling their thumbs while they wait for a response on something they escalated. They put the open ticket on hold while waiting on an answer and work on something else. -
Quote:At least some of us are trying to come up with a new source of income for the game
Oh is that all we're doing? Okay that's easy to do. If the company wants to make ore money they can sell something everyone wants.
Glazed Bacon Donuts.
Package'em in a CoH themed box (like the donut shop in Faultline) and sell them by the dozen on the Paragon Market for 800 points S&H included in the price.
They'd make a hell of a lot more money off of this than any other idea suggested so far in this thread.

Quote:Well technically the only costume piece being sold in the pack is the new Cupid's Bow.They're selling a collection of costume pieces at a discount to what it would be if you bought each piece separately. What they decide to offer is their discretion. Just because something exists and would fit doesn't mean you're entitled to it.
They're the ones defining the bundle. Heck they could throw in a minotaur and cyclops-appearance temp power at their discretion if they so chose.
Look at the pack as the sum of all its parts and see if its worth it. If it isn't, don't get it.
The rest of the items are part of a global unlock that allows the purchaser global account access to pre-existing costume pieces that are normally restricted to individual characters that have met the necesarry requirements that unlock the costume pieces.
a. The character is level 35+
b. The character has completed the ITF
c. The character has earned the Centurion Badge
This is just like the Cape and Aura unlocks where the unlock only grants level 1 access to certain capes and auras. While other capes and auras either have to be bought separately or earned/unlocked separately in the game. -
Quote:You are aware that Customer Service isn't available to Free and Premium accounts. The CS Rep may have initially thought you were still a VIP or you weren't clear that your sub had lapsed, and once he or she found out your actual account status (Maybe their supervisor told them to close the ticket) they correctly followed company procedure and closed the ticket because only VIP's get access to Customer Servicei wasnt trying to be mean, but the customer service rep has just ignored me since yesterday. i do my best not to be mean to any one, but when im ignored because its more convenient, i tend to lose respect for people, and this situation is no different. At the very least i should have gotten a responce back telling me they would look for an answer or something, but all i get is my ticket closed and the silent treatment from the support team.

Live Customer Support is a service provided only to Subscribers i.e. VIP's. -
I've had that damn tune in my head off and on ever since reading Agge's post, so I figured I might as well share the aggravation with as many people as possible.

Quote:Been done already. Right after Rocket Board was released the devs started a thread and asked us what we wanted to see next, and gave us the freedom to suggest anything.Take a poll and let players suggest what the next travel power should be. Show the results. Then in 30 to 40 days pump it out on the market to be purchased.
Actually its more of a test to see if you guys could do it. But I'm making pretend its a suggestion.
P.S. I just didn't pull this out of a hat as it is being done someplace else.
Honestly I don't think you guys could do this in 5 months, let alone 30 days.
The only problem with a poll is that it doesn't what the players want next but what the players want out of the options they give them. -
No they aren't. Bases of any size can crash when thy exceed the item limit. Contributing factors are the number of animated base items used like torches, bookcases, desks, etc.
