    Burned Out

Well, yeah man, if you intentionally do the same thing over and over and over and over again, you should be burned out.

As for the frustration? Well, it doesn't take dozens of runs to have that happen, people will always do things that make you want to punch a baby harp seal, it's just human nature.

But don't worry, thinks will be OK, Tinkerbelle Broadway

Well, sadly since TF/SF rewards are based on total time averages which include travel times and repetitive/defeat all missions, as opposed to actual difficulty, most of the TFs give greater rewards than the SFs. Time trumps challenge.
  3. Yeah, I feel your pain...

Did a late night 'Cuda and our only form of support was a corruptor... who DC'd after the first mission and never came back :P Left us with a Tank, Stalker, Blaster, Soldier and 3 Scrappers. Not the ideal team make up for the final fight. We ended up dropping shivans and a Heavy after a while just because the fight was taking so long.

Just a painful fight without a Defender or MM for the temp power, and that is just very poor game design. Ah well.

  5. Let's see...

I got my Archery/Devices blaster from 22 to 43 and was able to get 4.5(5) of the 6(7) TFs needed for the Task Force Commander Accolade done, along with all my costume slots, cape and auras, midnighter access and joined Vanguard.

Also managed to get my long neglected widow from 14 to 20... which is saying something since she had sat dormant so long, she still had base salvage in her inventory :P

Also got in a few good nights of RP and a few remaining winter badges here and there.

And read the first two books of the "Dresden Files" at someones recommendation.

All in all, not a bad weekend, but like others have said already, far less leveling than in previous 2XP weekends... just don't really feel the urge or need to rush any more characters up lately. I think I am at the point where I am happy with the ones I have at 50. I enjoy playing them, I enjoy RPing with them, and I am having fun building them up far more than I do grinding up a whole new little monster.

This has no actual bearing on my most recent complaints and opposition to new game mechanics, wherein my response has been, "THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE JSUT LIEK WOW!!!!"
And how wrong you still are.

It's funny, I tried City of Heroes way back at release and was underwhelmed enough to not even play out the first month.

Now 3 years ago I tried it again and so much was different, I can't imagine what it was like for the folks who played the whole time as some of these changes took place. Heck, even in the 3 years that I have been actively playing, a lot of things have changed or been added.

Wonder how things will look in another 3 years, because City of has the same feel to me as Asheron's Call and Anarchy Online, games that filled a different niche or went their own way in doing so, and are both still live after 10+ years.
  7. Grav/Energy Dominator or FF/Energy Defender both really fit the all TK power idea for a primarily ranged Telekinetic. Add in the Psy mastery APP for more goodies.

Energy/Energy blaster for an all offense ranged/melee telekinetic. Add in Force Mastery APP for obvious reasons.

Kinetic Melee/WP or/SR or /Invuln as a melee focused telekinetic for either the strong will, deflecting attacks or "personal force field" concepts. Go up the Body Mastery APP to add in Torrent.

Edit: Also a Grav/Kin Controller works as well.
  8. It really depends with me, when a character first starts out, I might just put down some basic stuff that has come to mind, more to help me remember an idea than anything else, and then flesh the bio out a bit more when the character has developed somewhat.

My finished bios tend to be a little bit of description or background in either a story form or like a file/dossier, kind of like the info you would get on a character in the first page of a comic book. And then I will usually add a few OOC/detail bullets for anything that could be noticeable or pertinent, but that you can't just show on the character model.

Honestly though, much of that is for my own use as I tend to be forgetful of details, and that helps me keep multiple characters sorted :P

As for the vampire bit, I do RP my scrapper as a vampire and she is based loosely on the WoD setting because I liked the concept. However, I do not use WoD "rules"(no idea what those are either, and the game has the mechanics in place to settle disputes anyway) nor do I adhere to the WoD lore, or even use WoD terminology in her description. Because, as has been mentioned, the secrecy and "hidden monsters" idea is kind of silly when you take into account everything else in the actual game lore. So, I borrow the concepts and ideas from WoD that I like and that can fit into City of without any real conflict of lore and go from there. And any powers/disciplines/abilities the character would have from the WoD concept, I make sure that I have an actual IN GAME power to replicate, instead of some assortment of additional "I can do this, and this and this too!" list.

Oh, you mean the one in Atlas Park who was holding a costume contest, that you were participating in until right when they said they were going to announce the finalists and then you went off, in broadcast, to the effect of "Screw this, I am not going to be in a contest held by some idiot healer who is too stupid to take more than one attack". And then continuing on in broadcast on your little rant insulting them and once again trying to tell everyone how best to play "The Game According to Mondo"?

Then when people told you to stop acting like a "******", you got on your defensive martyr troll high horse by repeating, "Who is the ******, the person who expresses their opinion or the ****** who insults them for it?"... conveniently ignoring the fact that you were indeed insulting their opinion and play choices first?

Or was this yet another time?

Gee, can't imagine why you were called a troll...

Hello kettle, this is the pot...
  11. Have had this mission glitch at the end about 4 or 5 times now. Twice petitioned and got a GM to fix it, the rest I just bugged it and auto completed.
  12. I like the set bonuses being displayed so that at times when I see someone who just kicks a lot of buttocks or is very survivable using powersets I have on another character, I can get a general idea of how they built their toon. I do seriously wish they would organize the list a bit though, instead of just a mishmash of text.

I do not, however, use it as a basis for picking people for teams, as the person could be frankenslotted, or filled up with non set IOs or even built with a mass of Hami-O's.
  13. I don't think the Magic Pack came with any auras, just costume parts and emotes and the power, Mystic Fortune.
  14. Back to the original question, no, none of my characters will actively mention the incarnate mechanics or have it alter their bio/background in any way that effects RP... just like I don't consider completing one of the "end game" TFs as happening directly as they did, because exactly how many times will the secret of the Honoree be revealed? Or Recluse's mega weapon be thwarted? I will just mix it in casually, as long as it is just a bit of a boost in power, that seems fitting for the particular character.

Even then I dislike the idea that a bit of backstory suddenly should make your character "ZOMG UBAR!". I have one character who's background is that they are sort of a living channel for the power of Apollo. That is the explanation for their powers, not a RP bio "I WIN" button/blurb, it is just the reasoning behind why this particular character is just as powerful as all the other level 50 super duper spandex wearers out there. And for the canon purists out there, sure, all the characters who have unlocked the "alpha slot" will be enhanced by the Well, but not intentionally and certainly not knowingly. I mean, my big battle armored Tanker certainly didn't decide to take a hot steaming bubble bath of godliness in the Well ala Achilles, just that for whatever reason this source of cosmic energy decided to leak into him.

But none of my characters are going to go around in RP with the, "Excuse me. I am feeling particularly godly today!", mentality.
  15. Wow. Just wow.

I really hope this is just a troll post.
  16. Now if they could just make winter take effect in the regular zones and actually have some snow!

I like the Winter Event just for the ski chalet if nothing else. It's a nice change of pace as a hang out spot, kinda wish they would leave it open longer even if the mission giver and other event related activities were cut short.
  17. Been happening quite often over the last few days. Extremely annoying on my brute especially, exit a mission... and have to reactivate 10 toggles :P Also very annoying on my dom while on TFs, because if it drops, it breaks up my perma dom, which isn't earth shattering, but just bothersome when rushing between missions.

I have not had it hit me entering a mission, only when exiting a mission map or my SG base.

And for the folks that feel compelled to ask... had 100% Endurance.

  19. I have a 50 Energy/Pain Dom Corruptor and she is great solo and on teams. The KB from Energy helps control the enemies and AoE heal toggle, AoE click heal, AoE +to hit, +resist and AoE debuff are wonderful powers. Also, your ally only buffs (status def, rez[needs a dead ally, but buffs you, put this here because it doesn't help while solo], Painbringer) can all be effective with minimal slotting, leaving more room for your other powers.

Very very survivable character and able to handle large spawns fairly well.

The only draw back would be the mediocre damage of Energy, but that is partially offset by scourge and the AoE debuff.
  20. Um, the VEAT starter costumes have always been limited to the VEAT parts only, why did you expect this to change that?

Pretty sure that is not an "issue or bug".

EDIT: Oh, if you just mean the auras, yeah, that is weird. Since the Cyborg pack "Combat auras" and the GRCE "Alpha and Omega" auras all can be used with the starter costume.

    New Seige Mish

Just spent half an hour pounding on him with my SD/SS tanker... used base empowerment buffs for attack speed and recovery, popped a bunch of big reds as needed...

Every single time at 1/4 health, he healed to half. No matter how I staggered my attack rate or poured on damage... always at the same marker he would pop his heal.

    Very annoying.
  22. Meh, KoA are always annoying anyway, so that is no shocker. My brute is my main hero tip mission runner, and as he has hover/fly, the caltrops are a non issue. The annoying part to the mission, for me anyway, is that unless you kill everything on your way to rescue Jocasta, she will stop and attack them on the way out. Well that, and like almost all rescue/escort/kidnap missions, I have to go slooooow for her to keep up.
  23. I don't mind Fly being slower than SS and SJ on account of the omni dimensional movement and ability to float in place and such. However, both Hover and Fly could use a serious endurance reduction.

    I 19

A delay in i19 is fine by me, just gives me more time to get all of my "main" characters their accolades/IOs and such and be ready for the inherent fitness overhaul before jumping into whatever Alpha Slot madness there is.
