    Seriously? Unbelievable.

Come on Devs, get over the costume sexism and give females the coats... I'm more than willing to share the lingerie magic robe and dresses with the male toons, this is just an unjustifiable decision.

OK then, important question to go with that... do the female models get to use the new jacket, or is it once again limited to male/huge? Some of us want a long coat option other than the hideous trench coat.
  3. Ack! A wild Deeblet has appeared!

    Very cute additions, Deebles.
  4. Bravo!

    *applauds*

I need to get my Lore pets on my tanker and get some long overdue revenge on some GMs! Right now we are at a stalemate, neither one can overcome the other's defense/resist/regeneration in the long run, so we have currently limited our conflicts to strongly worded disagreements when we see each other
  5. Really depends on the character in question, but...

Alpha: Always there, and allows for full character modification letting you adjust slotting in creative ways.

Interface: Being able to apply debuffs while attacking can make a big difference against bigger foes, especially on characters that normally lack that ability entirely.

Judgement: Having a hard hitting AoE is nice, especially on primarily ST characters, and the Radial tree debuffs are a nice supplement.

Destiny: Almost like having an AoE T9 "oh crap!" power on a 2 minute cooldown that can really shore up a "weakness" in a character... a heal on a defense bases tank, defense/resist on a regen scrapper, status protection on a corruptor, etc.

Lore: A nice little bit of added damage and/or buffs, but far less present as the rest. Could also be biased by the shoehorned choices of pets.
  6. Same: Ran one Lambda and they were working, ran another and all were greyed out, ran a third and some were greyed out, but some were not.

Also went to Bloody Bay to get Shivans and all the temp powers were greyed out, so the bug is hitting more than just the trials.

    Female Huge

I just wish we had an option to make our female characters muscular, instead of just bulkier. The male models have the muscular or smooth options for tights and bare bodies, the females should have that as well!

  12. *curses Zombie!*

Seriously though, considering how many good TFs you run or are a major part of getting together, you're bound to have a stinker here and there. And considering how many people are just giving the TMTF a shot for the first time now that it is the WST, lots of painful deaths are to be expected. I did one yesterday where only two of us were level shifted, only 3 of us had ever done it before with only 2 having been on successful runs, one person was alpha unlocked, but not slotted and the tank was on a test build. Just to make it even more fun, our only debuffer of note rage quit after dying to Director 11 so we went on with just 7. Hour and 20 minutes, 36 or so deaths later, we finished it. Sure it wasn't the ultimate run, but it was fun and there was a sense of satisfaction from all who stayed for getting it done.

  14. In a way, I am kind of glad that the new stuff has gone into the game for these very reasons, it kinda forced me to focus more on a few characters that I wanted to "excel", while curbing my tendency to level up every crazy idea that came to mind :P

I don't think the current alpha slot requirements are too steep at all really, but then I probably play more than the average casual gamer so I can understand and appreciate the frustration.

What does annoy me though are the enforced timers and the rumors that the items will be convertible, but then for obscene amounts of grinding. If I or someone else wants to grind grind grind and get to Tier 4 in one day, we should be afforded the opportunity to do so. Just like alignment tips and Hero/Villain merits. I cannot stand the artificially imposed time restrictions for many reasons, perhaps I have the time to do it now or this week, but not the next few weeks at all? Maybe I have all the money and merits to convert 30 hero merits and don't want to wait nearly a month to do so? Perhaps I decided to change my main do to a nerf of a powerset or a power proliferation and leveled up to 50, but now have to wait 2 weeks and 1 day to get my T4 enhancement, even though I have all the shards and TFs needed? If you are going to add in a grind factor, don't add in a secondary factor to slow things down arbitrarily.

I do think the new systems are a drastic change in the direction of the game, but not in quite the way some people think or have stated, the casual play and support for alts is still there and they keep adding sub 50 content to support it, only now they are giving you something to do with your 50s that can have tangible improvement and you have to choose what to focus on in how you spend your in game time. Make new alts, play an assortment of characters all across the spectrum, just as was always possible before, or start to narrow your focus on upper level advancement and what it takes to get there. Of course for the hard core grinders, this is no different anyway, simply another stage beyond level/IOs/etc.

I had 10 or so 50's on my account, I unlocked the Alpha slot on 7 of them, got most of those to T2 and then when the WST came out I pared that down to my 4 favorites who now get the majority of my game "playing" time. I still spend a ton of time RPing and just goofing off in game, but when I decide to run missions or what not, those 4 characters get priority. For me this was good because it made me sit back and look at all my characters and decide which ones I really liked playing the most, and I went with them. It really hasn't slowed the playing of my lower level characters or really my other 50s much though, because I mainly play the characters I enjoy RPing with, and I am more likely to come up with an RP concept that I like on a character I enjoy playing, so I am really just logging on the same few characters most of the time anyway. :P
  15. Like any other buff, I will use it in a mission, and that's it, unless it is asked for. I don't mind it one way or the other though as it's fairly unobtrusive. And the little pop up box doesn't bug me really, in fact it bothers me a hell of a lot less than say a random flaming aura or icey buff while I am anywhere but on a mission/raid. At least I can make that little window go away, and then it can't come back for at least 15 minutes!

Must have been a glitch because the level restriction to enter has been lifted. Only thing left is a level restriction to get vanguard merits or talk to the contacts.
  17. There are some decent places in the RWZ as well for varied scenery.

You could make use of Studio 55 in Praetoria for a less used Nightclub setting instead of the D, plus there is a lot of open area in the Praetorian zones to use for outdoor activities.

If a Small, know group is going to do something, an AE mission with a particular map might be ideal and you could fill it with enemies appropriate to the setting... Arachnos, demons, PPD, etc.

Also, for a controlled group, there are plenty of arena options as well.
  18. I had fun! I loved all the more old school costumes.
  19. Hello all, finally decided to give a Defender a shot and I am kinda stuck on what to pick. I plan to use Rad as the primary, so I am set there.

Now where I am stumped is in choosing a secondary. Looking over the secondaries, these are the ones I have narrowed it down to, but I am really not sure of the effectiveness/synergy as my only similar experience has been with corruptors.

Here is the list in the order that I like them, though admittedly I am partially biased based on the look of powers as well, so I may be way off... hence my plea for help!

    Psychic Blast
    Radiation Blast
    Electrical Blast
    Dark Blast
    Sonic Attack

For some background, I prefer to solo while leveling/basic questing in most cases as a way to relax/blow off stress, but I want a character that is useful for team/TFs as well. Being able to solo is important, but I don't need to have a super duper AV/GM soloing machine, just something that can handle solo missions with EBs and such. For that reason I tend to play characters with some forms of crowd control. And while not planning on much "hardcore" PvP, I'd like a set that will at least limit my self embarrassment to say a strand of toilet paper stuck to the shoe as opposed to splitting one's pants during a business meeting.

They all seem to fit the bill in one way or another, but as I don't have the practical experience, I come here asking for your help. Which would you advise and why? Which would work best with Rad as a primary given my little blurb of goals above? What is the overland flight speed of a laden swallow? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

They all look like fun to me, so now I just need to know which would be more functional and or effective.

Help me Defender Forums, you're my only hope!
  20. Hmm, sounds like it has potential.

Not sure how heavily I could be involved due to weird hours, but more than willing to be pulled in for bits and pieces or as a random foil. Or if someone wanted to contract my supernatural freelance Investigator/Hunter/Fixer/Assassin for Hire, to help move an idea along or throw a wrench in the monkey, I am sure Dani could take time out from her random tormenting of Robin to take on another job.

I'd also be wiling to work up some quick AE arcs for special scenes/conflicts if needed.

I am most often in game as Spectral Huntress, or catch me globally on @Fomsie

    Folks I could have available for roles from minor to major or anywhere in between depending on what was needed;

Spectral Huntress: Self serving Vampiress freelancer... no job too small, no paycheck too big. "If I am here to kill you, you probably did something to deserve it" (Incarnate Rogue Scrapper)

Lady Aeterna: Human witch and business partner of Spectral Huntress, involved in the game more for the sake of enhancing her magical knowledge and power free of the stifling regulations of MAGI and they like. (Incarnate Rogue Magical Mind/Fire Dominator)

Miss Novastar: Teen girl recently imbued with great magical power in the form of "The Light of Apollo", think Stargirl meets Mary Marvel, trying to make a difference but still not very savvy in regards to human interaction and duplicity. (Incarnate Heroic Magical Corruptor)

Last Stand: Young alien technopath, using her mighty powered battle armor to help protect the weak. Easy to draw in to help those in need. (Incarnate Heroic Tanker)

Sierra Silver: Mercenary and bounty hunter, uses living metal technology stolen from Last Stand's spacecraft for her own needs. (High powered Rogue Brute)

Tharrax: Muscle for hire! Find his(its?) ad in Thugs Weekly! Mutant monstrosity and leg breaker for the Family in the Isles. Find out what happens when you give extra strong steroids and mind altering drugs to a troll! Not the sharpest marble in the chandelier. (Mid range super strong brute)

Sebastion Invictus: Flamboyant warlock socialite, he fancies himself a power broker on the rise and an up and coming sorceror, but he is mired as a mid level player by his assortment of addictions, vices and hedonistic ways. Not to mention the long term attention span of a tuna fish sandwich. (Mid range evil magical corruptor)

Other alts of all levels and abilities that have no real RP identity of yet and could be repurposed to fit a story need.

Unless you're saying the actions you take are really her subconscience, but even then, it's still outside of her control, and thusly the player characters are still in control of their players.

I don't see why the character would dismiss anyone's actions as a product of her imagination, as she basically living in a dream and doesn't know it.
I think you are missing the point people are making here. Yes, every player would still have control of themselves because, well, you can't control them but, you are stating unilaterally that every single person does not exist save as part of your character's super imagination. That is like going up to everyone who RPs with you and saying, "OK, you don't know it, and I don't even know it, but you are all playing in the Matrix now, and it's running on my computer. But let's just carry on as things are, and pretend not to know, but I have actually decided that you all exist only as part of my world". That is a pretty extreme example of passive god moding.

In reality, [inset hero name here] is Suzy. An autistic child who lives in the reality. All of Paragon is but her dream, only [insert hero name here] doesn't know this.

...blah blah blah...there you go. The basics.

Now if you saw that bio, would it be all upsetting? Easily worked around, since [insert hero name here] doesn't even know the truth herself, so couldn't go saying annoying things like "Lol you're my imagination"

Is it any different than anyone else who has a "It's because of me this game effect is how it is" in their bio?
Wouldn't be upsetting, but would most likely be disregarded.

It's one thing for you to say, "My character(s) [and any others who choose to go along with the idea, maybe an entire SG] is all a figment of this child's imagination, but does not know that". It's quite another to imply that everyone belongs to your background story.

And no, it really isn't any different than those types of bios.

And then the little bit about the character showing up at every awakening of the Well. Is that the major times, such as Statesman/Recluse? Or every time someone(like a player) becomes an incarnate?

Because the former is a bit extreme, but possibly explainable. The latter, however, would be an obscene amount of god moding.

Wow, or just hop off that high horse and get over yourself.

I agree with the OP and think it is annoying and not just on account of the lack of shards/forced exemplaring, but because of how they stuck two systems/benefits into one that can obviously end up of extremely limited value to one side or the other.

Notice of the Well? All about incarnate, period. Therefore level 50. Should be limited to TF/SFs in the appropriate level range, and the idea of "You will be noticed and gain more power... by being stripped of most of your power to go and run these errands over here", is just silly.

WTF bonus XP? All about the sub 50 crowd. Should be a diverse series of TF/SFs open to this. But then the Incarnate only TFs are thrown into the mix and that pretty much eliminates everyone who could benefit from that.

Yes I hear that in i20 exemplared Incarnates will get shards, nonsensicle but yay! But that isn't going to help the sub 50 crowd on the weeks of Incarnate TFs. I just really wish they had separated these two reward mechanics that so obviously are targeted at different groups.

Running a sister psi with no shards, RIGHT before I20, it's kind of cruel.

Reminds me of running the Cathedral of Pain, in that nobody's going to drop any rewards 'till the very end.

It bugs me more that there IS another accessable, well known and fun lv 50 TF that they didn't make into the weekly target before I20 drops, in the ITF. They really didn't have to make it a lower level TF before the I20 "Everything drops shards" patch, so why did they?
    So much this.

I understand, but do not like or agree with, the idea of mixing in the lower level TF/SFs for the weekly benefits, but I would rather they had separated the Notice of the Well weekly from the Bonus XP/Merits weekly. The idea that you have to run a number of TFs where you have to give up your powers to advance your Incarnate power, is counter intuitive to the point of foolishness in my opinion. But throwing one in before they even drop shards is mind boggling.

On the flip side some of the next TFs down the pipe are the Alpha ones (Apex, Tin Mage) and that completely kills the point of the bonus XP that pre 50 characters could have benefited from.

Really wish they had gone a different way with this system.
