    The mood on MA

    [ QUOTE ]

Pretty much, they put up a sign in their produce market stating that although sampling is tolerated those that gorge themselves on the produce will be prosecuted as shoplifters.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's more in line with going to an all you can eat buffet, and being told you can eat as much as you want, but if you eat to much, you'll get thrown out.

Everyone here is paying for what they are getting.

    And then...

the dev's gen'd all the costumes for CR infringement, and then ...

The worst part is they don't actually have to connect to suppress you, just shooting AT you is enough to trigger it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't believe that's correct. If that's happening, it's almost certainly not working as intended.

(then again, the devs can't seem to make up their minds on suppression rules, so you might be right.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think that's how it's working either ... if you get hit, your travel is slightly suppressed, but not as much as the attacker. If they miss, nothing happens. If you can't be hit, your travel isn't suppressed. I think that is how it's currently working.

If they set travel suppression for being hit equal to attacking, then in a full out battle, if you are hitting them, and they are hitting you, it would prevent people from escaping as easily.

Phase shift or some other power would be required to escape a battle, or a series of misses from the attacker.
  8. How about if you report the arc so they get banned ... It's what I do to arcs that don't work (ie old rikti comm officer maps)

besides. That sorta attitude is what annoys me. "oh noes, a playerbase niche unlike mine isnt happy, too bad, hahahahahaha"

    [/ QUOTE ]

The "Oh, no! What is wrong with me abusing the content?!" kind of attitude is what annoys me.
Well that and "The game is only cool if I can abuse the content!" attitude.

Do you think I care if your annoyed?

    Idea for ingame

/signed I've always thought side games would be a nice addition to this game for a distraction.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
If the attacker is a ranged damage dealing AT, they could attack a melee AT while maintaining a better scope of movement indefinitely. It'd be even easier to kite them without getting hit than it is now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So make movement suppression equal if being hit or attacking. Every AT, even my tank, has ranged attacks.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Or it would allow people to kite other people with little to no risk.

    Bad idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only if the person trying to kite is never hit. That will most likly never happen. If it does, then it really doesn't matter what the attacker is doing. If he can't be hit he won't lose anyways.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

at least don't call anything else dumb, and by extension, people who build their arcs differently, stupid!

    [/ QUOTE ]
I never said anything like that. If you want to make an arc soley on story, there's nothing wrong with that, as long as you don't mind getting a 0-3 star rating from me.

Going Rouge is the change for competition.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What.

    [ QUOTE ]
since power customization will be in Going Rouge

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Source?

Also, personally, my heroes rather go rogue.

And, incidentally, I wouldn't at all mind a graphical update, and I know one's coming in some form or another (as per a recent Posi interview), but I also wouldn't call it critical to the game's survival. Nor do I think it's a key selling point - if people like CoH, they like CoH.

    [ QUOTE ]
My point: none of these changes really improve gameplay much, if at all. But they are nevertheless critical to keeping the game up to date and enjoyable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I disagree. I also disagree with using "OHNOES COMPETITION" as a justification for any change.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except, that is exactly what is happening. Going Rouge is the change for competition. Letting heroes be villians, and villians be heroes.

I agree with some of the OPs suggestion, but my guess is, since power customization will be in Going Rouge, they already redid the graphical interface and game engine.

After reading all your psots, LordXenite, I see the same theme through out your messages. ME ME ME ... I I I ... I've never seen someone so focussed on their own view point. The key to any discussion is looking at it from other people's perspective.

    [/ QUOTE ]
See, in all I've said, I've expressed my opinion. I didn't say don't play as efficiently as you want, or don't grind, or don't farm. I do say however, that there are going to be consequences to however you wish to play the game.

You haven't convinced me yet that there's merit to allowing people the rate of efficiency that MA/AE allowed before the current nerfs, and I don't expect to actually convince you that playing the game for anything but character-growth is worthy of your time... so how again are we supposed to discuss this in a manner that will satisfy us both?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it was broke before the current nerf. Getting 9999 tickets in one mission is just wrong. The way it is now works, 1500 ticket cap per mission, is fine. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to achieve that in as short a period of time as possible while having fun doing it.
  17. People 0 star things for a reason. If I don't like an arc, I'll 3 star it, if I hate it I'll 0 star it. I rate arcs based on how fun the content is, and how many tickets drop per mission. I don't leave feedback because it's not anonymous, and if I were forced to leave feedback when I gave something a 0 star, I would never play anybodies MA arc, and would only play mine.

I give missions I enjoy playing 5 stars. There was an arc the other day, it was awsome. It was on a boat with a custom group. I just stood there, and fought. Tons of patrols, and everything came to you. I stood in one spot, fighting for 10 minutes, and had a blast. I only gave it 4 stars because it had very little content, but deffinetly had 5-star potential IMO.

    Simple enough.
  18. I've just started getting into PvP with an ice/ss tank, and I'm having a blast with him. However, I noticed that there is a discrepancy with the travel suppression.

When I attack someone, my travel power deactivates for awhile, which is fine. My target, however is able to continue hopping, running, or flying away. Since my travel power is suppressed more than theirs, they are able to escape most of the time. I think the travel suppressions should be reversed. If someone is hit from an attack, their travel should be suppressed as much as if they had just attacked. This would include slowing someone flying down to hover, shutting off super jump, or super speed.

If someone is attacking, their travel powers should be suppressed less than if someone hit them. This would allow combat to continue, and force people to use powers in order to escape a zone conflict.

    The mood on MA

I'm not as interested in AE as I was when it came out, but I'm still working on a few arcs. I'm building the arc to maximize the 1500 ticket gain per mission, and building stories around what I find. Any AE mission I run that doesn't have this, and a good story I generally find incredibly boring. Spending a half hour playing any content, and only getting 200 tickets feels like I'm banging my head off a wall.

I use this guideline to rate missions as well that I feel like checking out.
  21. [ QUOTE ]

Playing a game "efficiently" tends to turn the activity to a monotonous grind which to me resembles a job on an assembly line

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not true, you can play the game efficiently, and have fun at the same time. I enjoy running the ITF over and over, so it's not farming. Yet my running time continues to improve, so I can complete the ITF in about 45 minutes.

When I build an MA arc, I'll make it efficient. Once that's accomplished, I'll fill in the story line. Playing efficient isn't farming, it's playing smart.

I don't qualify for any of these... how can you get into the game industry if they're always looking for game industry experience????

I'd LOVE to be a QA tester for this game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I hear yah PK, I tested software for 4 years, was a QA Lead for 3 of them, but is wasn't gaming software.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I work at a DVD Authoring facility doing mostly odd jobs dealing with programming. There is a QA department here for all the DVD's and BD Discs we ship to replicators where they test our programming and try to break it. It's horribly boring to me, and I would never want to do it. Imagine watching the same thing over and over and over again for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week for about 3 weeks, then moving on to a new title and doing it all over again.

I can't imagine QA for a video game is much different than that. Yeah I love to program them, but I don't wanna watch em.

    XP Rate Cap

    [ QUOTE ]

How is it a bad idea if it doesn't affect you?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Changes to this game affect everyone in this game, no matter the change. It will chase people away from the game, thus making it more difficult to find a team.

I quite oftem find myself on teams where the level difference between myself and the mobs is 5 or greater with some of my lower level toons. It doesn't mean I'm powerleveling or farming.

It won't be implemented because it's just a bad idea. It will chase people away from the game, and at this point with all the new content coming out, it's not needed.
