On the other hand, I have trouble believing that people using level pacts and the MA in order to PL didn't know that they were using the systems for other than their intended purpose.
[/ QUOTE ]
People keep assuming that all level-pacted toons affected used the MA system......
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, my wording was a little unclear. I meant that putting a character into a level pact, and then not playing it again until it's level 50 was an unintended use. The purpose of level pacts was to better support friends who want to play together, even if they don't always play at the same time.
I'm not saying that using it like that should be punished, but it should be obvious that's not why it was implemented.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just because someone did something that wasn't intended doesn't make it an exploit or illegal. As you stated, they shouldn't be punished, but they are being punished. I don't think an all boss farm is an exploit. I don't think an all LT farm is an exploit. I don't think adding 30+ ambushes in a mission to fight more mobs is an exploit. But these are all things people call "farming" and I disagree with them.
This is the same as if in any game. If you are playing a PnP game, and a player does something unexpected, you don't take their character sheet and say "You exploited!" and rip it up. That's essentially how I feel the Dev's have been handling this. -

Hey all, I'm relativly new to the PvP. I did a little pre I13, but just started getting into it with an Ice/SS tank I made a few weeks ago. I'm looking at one for villian side now, and I'm partial towards a stalker. I had a EM/Regen stalker in the past that was decent, but he was erased.
So my question is what is a good primary to take? Should I stick with EM, or go with something else? Dual Blades would be graphically nice, but not sure how functional it is. I was thinking either regen or nin for his secondary.
Any advice is welcomed. -

Judging from all your other posts, I find you calling anyone a jerk to be hypocritical. -

NOW.. I pull up search and check to see what level the leader is and what zone he is in. Even then I ask what sort of missions he plans to run. POINT was I didn't have to spend all that time researching something as simple as a team invite until recently.

Just ask them ... If they lie, you can add them to your ignore list. It's not like ignore is even permanent anymore.

I'm assuming you mean blind invites. And for the record, I hate those. If I do accept, I'll most likly do as little as possible, and use extremely dumb afk and brb excuses to go do the laundry. If I get wife agro, I'll just leave the toon logged in, and let them figure out I left.

and should be honored to be invited to their story or their little PL farm
[/ QUOTE ]
With all the nerfs that are in place, if I'm on a team that is running story content, and the rewards suck, I will tell them it's not worth running this arc, and leave the team. I build my arcs now in consideration for reward first. Once I have adequate rewards, I'll fill in the story content. I have two arcs, one long and one very short, where I did this, and I've gotten nothing but praises as to how good they are, split evenly between story content, and rewards generated. If an arc doesn't have both, it gets 1-3 stars from me. The map you explained earlier, I would have given it 0 also.
With the rewards you get from my missions, depending on the definition you use as a farm, you could call them that. Most peoples definition of farms is my definition of fun. -
If you are playing this game, you are a filthy exploiter.

Many people have been leaving this game because of this issue. You can feign ignorance, but honestly, your not going to convince anyone here that you didn't know this. (See that works both ways).
[/ QUOTE ]
Many people quit after the purple patch. Oh Noes!
Many people quit after the global scrapper nerf. Oh Noes!
Many people quit after ED. Oh Noes!
And all of those were things that affected how ~Everyone~ played.
I'm sorry that this guy didn't get a better customer service response. THey put out a campfire with main fire line, and yah maybe over shot. Call me Holier Than Thou if you want, but when my friends told me about the 10 hours to 50 doing nothing but arc missions, I knew they'd shut it down because how long does the game last when everyone's 50, and there's nothing to do?
But in all fairness, if the group of people who quit are people who prefer to play in massive boss farms, then I honestly won't be impacted by their parting. I don't group with people like that because I like to play things other than scrappers and tanks, so I'll barely be useful to them on thier farms. On one farm I ~did~ do I was even told not to heal because it might draw agro. Just sit and watch, or in the case of one person, fillout a survey in a beauty mag (she was typing the questions to us and helping us figure our scores while the tank and blaster cleaned the map out). They aren't people that would group with me to find cool story arcs and they aren't people who'd try to tackle a TF with me.
It's too bad the arc got locked but I don't see it as being "good" for CoX at large to have people using teh AE system to go from new character to level 50 in a single day. Sorry. I side with the Dev's on trying to keep a cap on how ~easy~ that is. Maybe they can't eliminate it but they can try to reign it in.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes people come and people go, but your missing the point. We went through this, according to you, 3 times already. One of them was ED, right around when CoV came out. The point of CoV was to bring in a wave of people, but that's not what happened. Co* broke even from the people coming in and the people leaving. It could have been much much better if it were presented better. From my understanding, the email went something like "So I see you people are figuring out my game ...", not sure of the exact wording though.
Posi just did the same thing. Because of it, they will be lucky to break even on subscribers because of this. They are even putting boxes on the shelves, and it's all a big waste now. People are supposed to learn from mistakes made in the past, not continually repeat them.
And the situation you described is door sitting. That's a small subset of people who farm called powerlevelers. On the majority of farms, if you aren't helping your leeching, and that earns a /kick. The only way now to stop people from going to 1 to 50 in a day on AE is by taking xp out of it. As it is now, you can go from 1 to 50 in a day on regular content. If they want AE to mimic regular content, there is no way to remove that aspect. -
I've been thinking about making a FF/NRG defender guide. I've had alot of fun with mine.

Do they now get the bonuses from the Soulbound set or not?
Just asking cuz I be confused....per normal

In most cases, they should.

I have this set on a fire/kin. Could you tell us cases where it won't give the correct bonuses? It would help me decide if I should slot out of it or not. -

I assume you are aware that a lot of AE farm Auto Sidekick anyone that join to lvl50 or any level range desired.
You can have a lvl4, lvl22, lvl33, lvl44 team Together w/out sidekick issue since when you enter the mission, everyone is auto sidekick to level50. Call it auto level to 50, or use the term you seem fit.
What I'm looking for is a mission Arc, that is like that , but not a farm.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have one, but some may call it a farm. I call it fun. I'll give you the arc ID when I get home from work. It's a one mission arc with the winter horde. They hijacked a boat bringing aid to RWZ. -
[ QUOTE ]
That's your call but I can tell you honestly that even without the boards I would have recognized that hyperinflated XP and tickets were going to get smacked down on and down on hard
[/ QUOTE ]
What's hyperinflated XP and tickets? I can level a character from 1 to 50 in normal content in 20 hours if I wanted to using PI farms. Is that hyperinflated XP? So then should people have been banned from PI farms in the past?
The problem with PI farms, they are boring. AE made the same capability to gain the same amount of XP as PI farms offer. The down side to the AE is it made it fun. I now enjoy farming because AE makes it fun, and will continue to do so until they decide to take action because I'm leveling to fast (when I stop playing the toon I leveled to 50 using the comm officers) or until Co* implodes.
Yeah, I leveled a toon to 50 using Comm Officers in just under 2 weeks and around 15 hours of play time, and *gasp* I'm still playing him cause he's fun at 50! Go figure.
[ QUOTE ]
You say you didn't know so you want the slot back. I have a feeling that they'll give it on appeal. But you don't care to do that. You'd rather pick up your cape and go to greener pastures.

First of all, if anyone starting out in MA actually took the 'tour' from the contact provided (and actually read all of the info), one of the first NPCs on the tour explains that missions that use exploits or use copyrighted/offensive materials, may be subject to disciplinary action. It was not a big secret that farming missions that were set up for that purpose could be banned and repeat offenders could have their accounts banned. Saying that this was something that was changed by the devs after the fact is untrue.
The 'tour' was set up to explain how to use the system and to let players know that there would be consequences for trying to take unfair advantage of the system. I don't understand how so many people can say 'they never said we couldn't do it'.
[/ QUOTE ]
Farming is not an exploit or they would have banned KTF farms of the past; Heck i still farm Posi solo and that is not banned yet here we go I farm it. Speed ITF farms been on a few of those. Family farms ?
Guess what people are still farming MA
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, they are still farming MA. I have an all boss farm, but like most people, the Dev's have me tiptoeing around as to not get into trouble. This whole issue has put much of the player base on edge. Many people don't like being put on the edge, so they are leaving.
I have a boss farm, and as said earlier, I publish it only when I'm going to run it, and unpublish it when I'm done. I've had one complaint on it because I forgot to unpublish it one night, and did so the next day which got rid of the complaint.
This tiptoeing crap needs to stop when it comes to an all boss map or an all lt map issue though. -

Thanks you all for all the posts. I hope this thread helps people with similar issues. After talking it over with my wife, we have decided to cancel our accounts and leave the mmo market for a while. We just couldn't get passed how NC Soft has chosen to deal with this issue. The fact remains, they handed people the tools, written directions, and let people do as they pleased. Now they want to punish customers because the dev team put out an unfinished product. Again thank you all for your help and good hunting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Someone please please explain to me ... Why would a company say "Screw you, your not getting your MA slot back" and risk the customer, such as alucarde, canceling not one, but two accounts, especially in the situation explained above. It's horribly bad buisness in anything.
I just don't get it. On the reverse side, I plow through tons of mobs, and get massive rewards for doing so, and have had nothing happen to me. I guess I'll just keep playing how I want to, and see where it goes from there. -
