It's a neutral arc to save the Forum Games section from tyranny of the ZOMGCATSI! since catsi is great evil. the character is making sure that the catsi minions do not get their hands on ice cream as it would destroy the thread without it. at the end you confuse the player with someone who wants to steal the icecream and a Fight breaks out between the player and you with KhelCone. EG and Emmi are more hostages in it

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you could make emmi look like a pair of shoes, that would be awsome

However at the time one of my all time favorite pc games (Ultima 7) was basically being remade into a MMO with UO and I was so excited it overcame my initial reluctance.

What shard did you play? I was quite popular on Cheasapeak with my blacksmith. I'd sit at the blacksmith in britian for hours. Characters name was Regis Ruther, and he always wore bright green.

Force Bolt - Add a low percentage chance (10-20%) to disorient knockback resistant mobs. If Force Bolt can't knock back an AV, at least getting hit in the FACE with a Force Bolt, should have a CHANCE to stun them for a few seconds. It makes us more viable as an asset against AVs, a common FF gripe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have an issue with force bolt, and it really comes into play when it's balanced against a secondary. Force Bolt is more of a control power than a defense power. While controlling can be used as defense, it's not the main functionality of the set. I have a problem with it coming in on tier 3, and IMO should be moved to at least tier 4, though I think tier 5 would be more appropriate. IMO Force Bolt > Detention Field

I also think there shouldn't be more than a 20 level spread between a power in the primary which offers control and a power in the secondary which also offers control like most blast sets have.

I feel bad leaving in the middle of a mission. If it gets really bad though, I'll reach down, and hit the off switch on my cable modem till I map serve and go do laundry or dishes or something.

[/ QUOTE ]If I'm on a crappy team, I'll try to wait until after the current mission, then say something like "Okay, gonna go do other stuff now. Good luck!"

The only time I've truly bailed on a team was after 11 hours of trying to do the ITF.

This would be awsome ... Make the cats minions, and have them trigger as ambushes for something. It would have to be 5 arcs long to account for the more popular threads here. I'd lol if someone made an arc based on the .... and then thread.
  13. [ QUOTE ]

Lets assume that you find a way to design a mission that would let you grow a character from Lv1 to Lv50 and then buy all the purple-sets and other IO's you want, so essentially that character would be, for all intents and purposes, finished. Now what? PvP in essence isn't what it used to be, and what would be the point of doing anything in the game if you're already at your peak?

Many people would just roll another character and be fine with that, but lets assume that eventually, you covered the full matrix of AT/power-set combinations available to both Red/Blue side. If all you care about is making efficient characters in the most efficient ways you can find, then essentially, you've "finished" the game. Your characters will eventually bore you and you inevitably will leave the game, at least until something new comes along like a CoX expansion. From the Devs' point of view, this isn't a good thing if when you leave you also cancel your subscription!!

    [/ QUOTE ]
That is a what if scenario, and one that will never happen. Show me anyone that has played every AT combination, and purpled them all out.

With power proliferation, it will never happen either. They'll run out of slots before they play every combination.

I need advice on building a character just to farm inf. I know i know I am a bad person but I need Inf for IO's on my other toons. Would a blaster be better than a controller at farming? if so what kind of blaster/controller is going to be best to take out large numbers of mobs?... thank you in advance.

P.s. I have a plant/kin who seems like he could take out tons of targets giving a few more lvls.

Some of us see right through this post mate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not sure if your accuseing me of something or not. I just haven't played in about 3 or 4 years so I am trying to catch up on new items in game. My highest lvl character was 28 a fire/ice tanker on gaurdian named Awsome0. look it up i am not lieing. I just don't have the resources to get IO's and I need a money farmer.

as for the AE mishes if I build a mission with like 20 groups of 4 mobs designed for me to get xp and inf, and I play that mission a few times would that be considered an exploit? I don't want to get banned for doing something stupid.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let me give you an example of an acceptable AE mission. I have an Ice/SS tank, so he's good against ice (90% resist). I made a mission which involves the a ship heading to RWZ full of supplies. The ship was attacked, and taken by the Winter Horde. The hero (or villian) needs to get onto the ship, get the supplies back before they are destroyed (defendable objects) destroy a machine which is keeping the temperature low on the ship, and defeat all the winter horde.

It's alot of fun solo, and on a team, it is very tactical. People need to be able to pick up ambushes since 2 or 3 ambushes attack at a time. I've been on teams who breezed through it, and I've been on teams where everyone but me wiped (since I'm an Ice tank and the do nothing to me).

Yes, you can make an AE mission that favors your toon, but take time, and iron out a story. Don't put "Great Lootz tis a farm!"

I've been using an Ice/SS/Fire tank. They have an endless supply of endurance also, and with MA, you can make a custom enemy that is suited towards your build, or just use winter horde.

    Bad PUGS

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

Was on a PUG with one of my MM's...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reminds me of another bad pug I was in on my MM. Damn brute declared himself the aggro sponge. Okay, no problem in that, if he could, oh, I don't know, HOLD AGGRO! No, he'd throw a couple of powers off then move onto another group, leaving us to mop up. I had to deal with two boss mobs at once (thank goodness for my bots) and everyone else was soloing one. He wipes because for some odd reason he thought we were right behind him instead of actually trying to stay alive. So he drops when he tries to get a third group and the second one catches up to him, then expects us to rez him after we finally handle the first group.

8 man team went to 1 in a half second. Pugs went on my do not go list for a couple months after that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I knew an ice tanker that did that. Oddly enough, I found myself on the same team with him quite a few times. I recall one of the PUG's I was on with him, we all went up an elevator, and the defenders on the team started buffing everyone, and the tank runs away while we were buffing, and dies on a nearby group, then leaves cause the healer isn't doing his job.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
My opinion of the term 'healer' has come from very hard learned lessons. I have yet to join a team that asked for a healer that didn't expect me to just stand there and spam the green numbers over their heads. I've been kicked from teams because I would "waste time" by using my attacks. The worst was the guy that told me to learn my role because I was using my debuffs (and because I only had one rez.) After the 5th or 6th time of getting yelled at, I stopped debuffing. I told the team leader to learn what a defender can do before yelling at one and quit the team after the 4th team wipe from one boss.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To me, healer is a dirty word, and should be caught by the language filter

I tend to use buffer or debuffer, because it better suits what the power sets do. An emp would be considered a buffer, and keep the team from dying, as well as force fields, ice, and thermal.

    Report all Farms

    [ QUOTE ]

Wait so you're actually going to not report farms because you don't agree with the devs actions?

Yes they gave us a tool to use, they should concentrate more on fixing the problems other than trying to micromanage people by taking things away from them.

    [ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Sorry, but you're wrong.

    [ QUOTE ]

The devs are banning publisher slots of farmers for a damn good reason.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And what, exactly, does that accomplish? It accomplishes people posting on the forums saying "Come on people! Report more farms!" ....... No .......

    [ QUOTE ]

And you know what, theres a difference between in game farms and AE farms.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The biggest problem between the two that I've noticed is AE farms are more fun than in game farms. They make my toons feel more super by fighting large groups of mobs, like in the ITF, mission 3, without the lag.

    [ QUOTE ]

Mainly that the in game stuff you're still learning the various parts of the game. AE farms you're experiencing a tiny part of the game which is leaving new players with little to no knowledge of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not true .... Dev's explicitly said they want people to be able to level from 1 to 50 using only MA. People will be able to learn how to play the game using MA only.

    [ QUOTE ]

They're creating an entire group of 50's with no idea how to play.Thats not me saying no idea how to play my way, jsut flat out not know how to play. You can't dispute that because you know it's true.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If you believe that, I seriously doubt you have played this game long enough to be able to comprehend the different aspects of this game.

    [ QUOTE ]

You can ignore this problem all you like.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Your making stuff up. I never said I'm going to ignore it, I said I'm going to use the in game bug report when I see something that is fishy, and let the dev's decide if it's intended or not intended. I see no reason to complain about it (hench the complaint button).

    [ QUOTE ]

I'm not saying its hard to get teams outside Atlas or anything, i'm saying that people shouldn't have to leave Atlas to avoid the farmer broadcasts.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That is a psycological problem, and can be ignored. If you can't look past what's being said in broadcast, use your ignore feature, or put broadcast in it's own tab, that's on you. I seriously doubt anything will be done about broadcast .... ever ....

    [ QUOTE ]

At the very least the AE needs to be instanced to remove it from zone broadcast.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's been suggested, and it's not possible. One simple reason, when your inside the AE building, look through the windows. What do you see? It's the zone your in, and if AE were instanced, that would be lost. If they were to just get rid of that, and instance it anyways, people such as myself would simply go to different zones that the AE instance would be linked to and look for team members that way.

    [ QUOTE ]

Something has to be done about this.

    Report all Farms

    [ QUOTE ]
It's the only way to get rid of them. I urge all legitmate players of the game to report AE farms when they see them. Something must be done and it's up to us as players to help the devs get rid of this blight on our game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No?

Edit: Let me clarify that no .... I will never use the complaint button against a farm because it will get the slot banned. I will, however, use the bug report button under the options tab whenever I see something that is a bit skewed, and let the dev's sort out what needs to be fixed.

    On farms

    [ QUOTE ]
I played a mission yesterday that for all intents and purposes was a farm. It was "cleverly disguised" as a story with a plot but all it really was was a vehicle to put the team up against the weakest possible custom enemies and level 51 AVs that would give 376 thousand xp to a level 49 character. That's almost a bubble per AV. There was 7 or 8 of them on the map.

Normally, in real missions, this particular AV wouldn't be found in seven or eight easily dispatched instances in the same easily navigated map, filled with such laughably pathetic foes. Normally this AV would only be found at the end of a 2-hour TF, or an almost equally long story arc, or possibly as a bank robber in Peregrine Island. Lord Recluse doesn't leave his tower for nothing.

The problem is thus: we can create missions which puts us up against enemies with insane rewards which lets us bypass hours worth of "build-up" which we would normally have to slog through in order to reach that enemy. This build-up period is what usually keeps us from "farming" those enemies effectively.

As terrible as it seems to me, I think what is needed to keep MA missions in check is a "cool-down period" on AVs and other highly rewarding enemies. After killing an AV in a MA mission we could get a temporary power which would reduce the rewards from killing other AVs within its duration. This temporary power would stack with itself so the more AVs you kill and the faster you kill them, the less reward you would get from each. The reward should not reach zero, but it should be discouraging farms like this. Instead of getting from level 49 to 50 in a single mission we might have to play through an entire arc of 5 missions, which seems much more in line with the normal game content.

Normal story-based MA arcs should probably not be affected too terribly by this suggestion since they would presumably have a reasonable amount of AVs in a single mission. "Real-world" content should not be affected either since those AVs shouldn't drop this temporary power on us.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is working as intended, and probably won't be something they get rid of.
  25. Folonius

    Bad PUGS

I always enjoy reading about other peoples PUG experiences, and couldn't find an approriate thread on the Virtue forum, so I'll make one. Post your worst (or best) pug experiences here.

    Here's one fore you.

I'm on my 50 tank and it starts out fine with a tell

    Them: lff?
    Me: Sure
(I get an invite, hang around for a few minutes and another person joins the team.)
Team Me: What are we running?
    Team Leader: 54 bosses
(I hate 54 bosses because they take to long to fight, and 9 out of 10 times, 54 boss farms I join everyone wipes and we end up doing something else so I avoid them like the plague)
Team Me: eh .... 54 bosses never turn out good.
Team Me: I think I'm going to bow out ... Thanks anyways ...
(At this point I quit the team, and start up my own AE mission. 20 seconds later I get a tell)
    Private Chat
Leader: wow, we run this all the time
Me: they never really turn out good.
Leader: 10 mil a run and 20 minutes yeah not good huh?
Me: I can run a map and cap my tickets in 10 minutes
Leader: sorry about YOUR luck, but my real life friends on the team have ultimate sets as well as I and we drop fools quicker than most 52 boss farms
Me: Super ... Have fun then ...
Leader: yeah, drop the attitude and cockiness
Me: attitude eh? I politly drop out and you think I have attitude .....

Would anyone here have handled this any differently? I suppose I could have just replied with good luck! instead of they never really turn out good, but I doubt it would have turned out any differently.
