ok i realise this is a little off the original topic, but upon plugging in the XFX 8800GTS, i get a loud beeping noise on computer.
It made me jump and computer doesnt load, after reading the instructions i just want to check ive got this right, the cables direct from the power supply to the comp need to go directly through the card rather than the motherboard?
It just seems a little weird to me so i thought id better check so i dont get a massive kaboom.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Modern video cards need a power feed direct from the PSU as they use way more power than the PCIe slot can provide. -

If they were to add some rocket packs or something, I could get behind that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Only on the condition that they actually LOOK like comic book rocket packs, like the Rocketeer, and NOT those hideous Raptor Packs.

I'd recommend turning off Aero anyway, the desktop doesn't look any different in any way, and everything runs faster. Computer boots up a hell of a lot faster as well. Aero is utter trash.
[/ QUOTE ]
You need new glasses mate. The desktop looks TOTALLY different without Aero and all its transparency effects. I can't STAND it like that.

As a side note a short probably incomplete list of heroes and villains that use/have used weapons
Thor - War hammer
Valkyrie - sword and spear
beta ray bill - Hammer/mace type thing
Wrecker - Crowbar
Thunderball - ball on chain
Vandal Savage - Has used a variety of weapons over the years
Ra's al Ghul - Depicted several times wielding a sword
Zorro - Sword
and I'm sure there's more.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hawkgirl - Mace
Batman - Throwing stars (well, Bats
)
Penguin - His umbrella's
Joker - You name it, really!
There are literally 100's that use weapons... -

Wonder how long it'll be before theres an offline editor like the one the Koreans had.

Never. -
Well... I have an 8800GT card, with everything maxed out, and the game looks awesome... Perhaps you don't have some settings as high as you could...

I'm a tad frustrated about this meself.
When I heard that i13 may be released on the 2nd, I got all excited cause I had a half-day.
Now I spend the other half waiting.

Looking at your forum registration date, you've been around for past issues before, so you really should know by now they they're ALWAYS done in the afternoons. -

Excuse me, but what additional "spandex" costumes do we need? We have dull spandex and shiny spandex, spandex with skirts, spandex with capes, cut away spandex, and lots of different patterns - what else can you do with spandex that we haven't already got?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I didn't actually say more costume pieces... However, some more patterns would be nice... flags especially, as would putting your chest logo on your cape as well.
Some more objects for bases would also be good... Perhaps some placeable mannequins with your costumes on them, stored for posterity and maybe even making use of the costume save/load feature so you can keep a library of more than 5 costumes you can just select from.
Oh, and a really big BaBomb type bomb that you have to run around with for hours and hours, because sometimes, you just can't get rid of a bomb!

Heres a question
As the Mac game and the PC game are in fact the same game and aren't going to be on separate servers could i just bye the Mac version of the game and apply the game code to my account in the same way i did with GvE?
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably.
[/ QUOTE ]No, definitely. PC users can buy the full Mac edition and then access from either PC or Mac. What I'm assuming is that the booster pack will not grant access to the mac client and vice-versa for the GvE pack.
[/ QUOTE ]
I said probably, because I didn't wish to make any ASSUMPTIONS on a new product based on how past products functioned. -

Well that just aint fair....
It's gonna be the Good Vs Evil thing all over again and we're gonna be made to pay for those pieces if we want them. Seriously...'Whats that? You've been playing almost 3 years and your last Veteran Reward was a Respec? Well good news, heres some stuff you wont get right away because Mac users are busy lording it over you and then we'll offer it to yuo for a price! We reward loyalty'
[/ QUOTE ]
And of course, the Mac users don't get the Pocket D teleport, or the rather useful Jump Pack, or the two costume sets that came with it... If they want those, they have to buy the GvE pack.
You know, if you're going to go through life thinking that it's FAIR, you're going to have a REALLY miserable 60 years or so... -
We've had packs based on getting married, cyborgs, soon magic, and also norse mythology. Could we pretty please have a pack based around Silver/Golden Age supers? Maybe some giant Death Ray's to deal with, or better yet, a proper giant monster stomping through the city streets and towering over the buildings!
-
So... i15 will be centered around the Fifth... And previous rumours had i15 continuing the story of the Coming Storm.... Are the Fifth the Coming Storm maybe?

I have the most lag in Faultline for some reason.
[/ QUOTE ]
Likewise. My guess is it's because they re-did that zone, and used the higher quality texures and/or higher polygon count (not sure which) they used for Rogue Isles where I also lag more than most CoH zones (Faultline excluded).
[/ QUOTE ]
*Flies around Faultline, getting 65fps from his 8800GT at max settings*
What lag?
-
[ QUOTE ]
Not all the lag can be explained by people's network connections, Floaty. If it could, they would never have implemented the /sync command...

*Points at the smiley in his post and whaps Birdy with a stuffed parrot. -
You know what? Sod i13, I just want these blasted forums to work properly!
And no, Diggis, it's not the slightest bit laggy now. Try getting a decent internet connection.

64 bit has more chance of there not being compatible drivers for peripherals though doesn't it? I've not used Vista before so I figure it'll be easier to work with the 32 version for now and worry about 64 bit down the road when I feel I might need the extra RAM.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not with modern devices. It might be the case with a really old devices, but pretty much anything that came out in the last 3 or 4 years will have drivers.
I run Vista x64 Ultimate, and all my devices work fine in it. -

it'd be good to hear how your setup performs so I can offload all the risk-taking in your direction.

Cheers
I'm going with 32 bit Vista for the time being as that's all Dell offers on the model I went with. I'll more than likely upgrade to 64 bit in the future so that's why I went with the 4 Gbs of RAM.
[/ QUOTE ]
With only 32bit Vista, you'll only be able to access 3.2gb of that 4gig of RAM. If I were you, I'd buy an OEM copy of the 64bit edition for that rig. See if Dell will ship without an OS and save a bit on it... -

if I14 is MA alone (which has been said by Posi himself)
[/ QUOTE ]
He said it could stand on its own, not that it would. Not that they haven't put out releases almost entirely for a minority audience before: I4 and I6 both had very much a minority appeal.
[/ QUOTE ]
Read Grouchybeast's post on page 10.
Now you know.
[/ QUOTE ]
How about instead YOU actually learn to read? When this came up, GhostRaptor checked with Positron himself, and CONFIRMED TO US that i14 contains more then just the Mission Architect. Why don't you quit talking out of your rear for a change, hmm? -

2-3 months
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering how long the timespace between I11-I12 and now I12-I13, I wouldn't guess so.
[/ QUOTE ]
We already know i14 is coming out in the first quarter of 2009. In case you didn't know, there are 3 months in a quarter, so 2-3 months is likely correct. Personally, I'd expect to get it on test sometime in February. -
