how does a merging server mean a game dieing look at eve online one bloody server
[/ QUOTE ]
A better example may have been Planetside. It merged US servers at one point. Although it is still going.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, a better example would have been ANY game that has more than one server. EvE always has been, and always was, designed to run serverless. It's totally useless to try to use it as a comparison with games that have multiple servers. -
It's certainly a lot cleaner!

Over-ambitious launch strategies will do that to you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention the launch of a new expansion to that other game...
Oh, and being bugged to hell and back too... -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh and by the way since the server transfers WAR is now deemed to be in trouble Because you don't offer that sort of thing if your game isn't in difficulties.
[/ QUOTE ]
Having lost 2/3rds of their subs in the EU might have something to do with that perception too...

A Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it, and a "Yo!" to everyone who doesn't.

One thing that did concern me though was at 12.30 Sunday afternoon, I did a search for heroes between lvls 31 and 45 on Union and got a list of 50. That list wasn't truncated.

12:30 on Sunday afternoon, the last Sunday before Christmas. The last day a LOT of people have to get Christmas shopping done. Riiiiight...

[ QUOTE ]
This is not a suggestion to merge them, i just wanted to know why so many people are against it...

Then learn to read. -
Although not directly on our region, due to traffic rerouting etc, I suspect this might have something to do with the problems.

Isaac nodded, juggling the glass between his hands. "Sure thing. Just call if you want any company. I think Juan wants to speak with you later about something, and if you ever want to dance... well, me and Sophie are always up for promonading young women about the floor."
[/ QUOTE ]
Cara mumbles a hurried thanks and walked quickly to the doors, pushing them open and going out into the cold night air. A few moments later she stops not far from the Christmas tree and sits on the edge of a stone bench, taking deep breaths as she mutters. "Calmdowncalmcdowncalmcdowncalmcdowncalmcdown. .."
A few seconds later there's a bright flare of light just visible through the tinted lobby windows, and Cara's body shifts over into her Burned Ice form, flames erupting around her body in a veritable inferno. -

"Drink, Cara?" Isaac asked, holdig out a glass of water for her. The bar manager had a smile on his face, and in his other hand was his own glass of punch. "Usually serve up something a little stronger, but thems the breaks."
[/ QUOTE ]
Cara almost skidded to a halt as Isaac intercepted her rapid retreat and she looked up at him, that same frightened rabbit expression on her face just for an instant. "A drink? Oh, uh... No... No thanks... I uh... I really have to go."
She tried to dodge around Isaac, but found it surprisingly difficult to get past the slender man, and after a few seconds she stopped trying and let out a long breath. "Alright... I.. thanks..." She quickly took the glass and gulped the water down, a little steam escaping her mouth as the cold liquid met her rather hot lips. The temperature around her felt decidedly warmer than the rest of the room.
Handing the now rather warm glass back to him, she gave him a brief but thankful smile, "Thanks, really but.... I have to go... I need some air... It's stuffy in here, don't you think it's stuffy in here? I'm stuffy in here..." She moved to skirt around him once more, heading in the direction of the doors to outside. -

Richard grinned at the rejoinder, and began to dance - quite poorly - ensuring that his feet didn't encroach on Cara's person.
He succeeded quite well, for a while, until he spotted Cass off to one side, and all thought seemed to dribble from his mind, and he stood there for a moment, dumbly staring, before resuming his attempts at keeping a rhythm.
[/ QUOTE ]
As she danced with Richard, somewhat awkwardly, her thoughts drifted back to the events only a few minutes earlier, and the image of Leo swam into her mind accompanied by another hot flush, if considerably cooler than the one that had made her run.
Feeling Richard stop dancing for a moment, she glanced away in case he'd stopped because of her rising temperature, and spotted Cass standing at the end of the dance floor. Her feet stumbled briefly as she stared at the woman, and her heart seemed to suddenly race as once again, her temperature began to spike again.
Quickly, she released Richard and started to turn away mumbling. "Sorry, I... I gotta go... Do something..." -
Cara allowed Richard to lead her to the dance floor, looking rather nervous. "Um... Well, I'm not a lot better either... Just don't tread on my feet, alright?"

Yes, before you were thrown out

Pfft, you wish. I chose to move to Union because the people there were more FUN!

Cara looked up at Richard, looking for an instant very much like a frightened rabbit, then visibly forcing herself to smile, she nodded. "Uh, sure... Why not."
-
Cara spotted Sophie waving her over, and managing a smile, walked to the edge of the dance floor near where she was dancing with Isaac and watched her dance for a few seconds before waving back, then turned around to look for a seat.
-
In the thankfully empty ladies room she's burst in to, Cara stood in front of the sinks, her hand either side of the ceramics as cold water gushed from the tap, instantly turning into steam as his hit the hot ceramic. Clouds of steam billowed up, fogging the mirror as Cara muttered rapidly to herself, "Calmdowncalmdowncalmdowncalmdowncalmdowncalmdown. "
After a couple of minutes she let out a long breath and the steam began to subside as she reigned in her pyrokinetic abilities. Panting slightly, she stared at her obscured reflexion, her mind in a turmoil... Why had she said that to Leo? What was she doing!? She'd not lost control of her powers like that for years, but seconds after talking to him she'd almost... She shook her head, not wanting to think about what she'd almost done, or what Leo had also said to her. He didn't really think she was pretty did he? No, he couldn't! She was too young, too short, too tomboyish. Someone like Leo would NEVER see her like that, would he?
In the sink, the cold water finally stopped flashing into steam and the sink began to fill. Taking another deep breath, Cara shut the tap off and dipped her hands into it. Instantly, the water began to boil, but soon settled down again as it cooled her hands.
After a few more moments, Cara straightened up and checked her dress. Fortunately for her, Ellie used sturdy materials, and knowing Cara's abilities, had used a heat resistant material; the dress still looked perfect, as did her tights and shoes. Leaning over the sink, she wiped the condensation clear and stared at her reflection. Her makeup was still mostly intact too, just a little smearing around the eyes.
Taking a paper towel, she wet the end and carefully cleaned the smeared area, then looked back to the door, just as a couple of other students entered. They stared at each other for a couple of seconds, then, feeling a faint blush returning to her cheeks, Cara strode quickly from the room before the girls could ask her why the room was full of steam.
Outside, Ryan had long finished his speech and the prom had got going properly. The lights had dimmed outside the dance floor, and with the area now crowded, no one seemed to be paying her any attention.
Letting out a long breath, she started to skirt around the dance floor, away from her former table and any chance of bumping into Leo again, and towards her team mate Sophie. -

Leo coughed slightly and smiled politely.
"Thank you Cara and that dress is lovely." Leo smiles "You know you're really pretty when you blu..."
Leo stopped himself to late. His jaw dropped open for a few seconds. He had no idea why he had said that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cara froze, and the blush creeping up her her face suddenly rushed through her entire body. In her hand, the glass of punch she was holding began to bubble and fizz as the liquid inside started to boil.
Her gaze suddenly dropped from Leo's face to her hand, and she let the glass go with a gasp just as Ryan began his speech. "I... Sorry.. sorry... I... I have to go... to... to the bathroom." She managed to stammer out as the embarrassment hit her like brick, and she jumped to her feet, knocking the chair over in her haste. A second later she was little more than a red blur as she dashed across the dance floor, heading for the nearest ladies room. -
[ QUOTE ]
Leo saw Cara seating herself at the nearby table and wondered over to say hello.
"Hey Cara." Leo beamed a smile at her.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cara smiled and looked up at Leo, "Oh, hey there Leo! You're looking yum..... uh..." A deep crimson blush runs up her cheeks. "Nice suit..." She finishes, somewhat weakly. -
Cara finished loading up her plate, if you can call 3 canapés and 2 sausage rolls loaded, and turns to look for somewhere to sit. A table not far from Leo seemed unoccupied, so dodging carefully around the growing crowd, she made her way to it and sat down, setting her plate and glass down as she did.
-
Cara shrugged then smiled, "I guess so, and thanks; might just do that."
Taking another sip of her punch, she looked closer at the dress. "I hope none of them come undone, some of those pins would REALLY hurt if the got stuck in to you!"
She turned around again, looking over at the buffet, and the amount of food Linda had already taken. "I gotta get me some dinner before all the grubs gone, I'll see you in a bit Sophie, yeah? Laters!"
Giving her a little wave, she headed to the buffet, dodging carefully around Tabby and the others as she passed.
(( Also away for a few hours folks, cya later! )) -
Cara grinned in response and shook Mina's hand, "Cool, so your Sophie's AND Juan's girl? That's kinda... confusing!"
Releasing Mina's hand after a moment, the young woman took a sip of her punch and looked around, "Sure looking busy already, and almost everyone's got dates too..."
