Quote:That's pretty much a certainty. They probably decided that they need a new tutorial AND only have enough resources to fully remake once zone. With Galaxy being the far less popular starting zone, it drew the short straw for being axed and now the same thing is going to happen to Dark Astoria.I suspect that one of the decisions leading to blowing Galaxy City into rubble was to get around either a) having new players *****, moan, and whine about how crappy Galaxy City looked compared to Atlas Park if they picked it for their starting zone, or b) having to expend the same amount of work they put into the Atlas Park revamp to rework Galaxy City before the issue released.
People have been asking for that to made use of for YEARS, and now they are, they're taking it away from everyone except the level 50's. IMO, that sucks and just serves to make the game that little bit smaller. -
Quote:The point is, the "Coming Storm" has never really been a firm plan as far as the lore goes. It's never been anything but some vague piece of future content they wave at us from time to time, dropping hints here and there which, a year or two down the line, they'll completely contradict when they drop some more. And the Praetorians were nothing but a mechanic to add TFs, SFs, and Incarnate trials; and set the stage for side switching and F2P.
i'll bet we could do this with every bit of lore added since launch if we really tried.
I don't believe we'll EVER see them before the end of the game. -

Quote:Until the Coming Storm actually DOES arrive in game, it's nothing but a carrot on a stick; so get walking, Mr Donkey... Gotta follow that carrot.4 years. And you're wrong, Prometheus has specifically said that the Battalion is the Coming Storm, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they're next after we defeat Tyrant.
-
The Coming Storm is nothing more than a carrot they've been dangling on a stick in front of our noses for the past 7 years, like we were donkey's on a treadmill, endlessly trudging onwards towards something we'll never ever reach.

Quote:We never asked for the Echo, and it's totally useless for our regular RP meets because in the game world, Galaxy City is destroyed. We can't just go back to the Echo and pretend it never happened.Pretty much. Some said they met regularly to roleplay there, but somehow couldn't imagine incorporating its destruction into their stories. Of course I have yet to see another person in the Echo, but that may be a function of server.
We weren't even THAT pissed off at the destruction of Galaxy. We were annoyed at the complete removal of it as a usable zone, making the game smaller and depriving us of a meeting spot we'd used DAILY pretty much since EU launch back in 2005.
As for the game lore... The devs stopped caring about that a long long time ago. -
CoH isn't big enough to justify the expense in setting an authenticator system up.
-
Honestly? I wouldn't even try. Playing a prejudiced person isn't generally a pleasant thing as you WILL get people who'll take it personally and can end up being quite upsetting OOCly.
Plus, assuming you don't hold similar prejudices yourself, it's REALLY REALLY difficult to do it as it just... doesn't feel right, y'know? -
Quote:Well, I dunno. Depends on the business dynamics between the developer and publisher, really. One's awesome, the other's an a-hole (can you guess who it is?By the time you get back, maybe the irritating issues in your new MMO will be getting old-hat, and City of Heroes will have replaced theirs with shiny, BRAND-NEW irritating issues.
)
-
Which is effectively what I am doing. Taking a break, playing a different MMO, possibly coming back in the future (but only AFTER they've fixed the irritating issues!)

Quote:No, they're not BIG problems. Big problems I can deal with.I have been an MMO subscriber of one sort or another since November 1997. You guys think these are big problems? These aren't big problems.
This is a good game.
What they are, are lots and lots and lots of little problems that just go on and on and on and never ever get sorted out. Those are much harder to deal with as they build frustration over a LONG period of time until something finally has to give. -
Nope, and that's another bloody thing they've don't seem to care much about, either.
-
What, a crappy helm that none of my toons would wear anyway?
I won't miss them at all... -
Peronsonally, I thought it was a buggy croc of <bleep>. Kept crashing on me so I just gave up. What I *did* see of it looked OK, but I really can't be bothered to keep trying at something that just kills my client.

Quote:Nor mine either, and for me it's now reached the point where I can only really do one thing and vote with my wallet. But that doesn't change my professional opinion on the situation.
So I have.
It's not a ragequit, I'm not raging; quite the opposite in fact. I'm not even really completely quitting, I'm just dropping to Premium. I actually feel really really sad that it's gotten this far, but c'est la vie. PS have made this bed we must all lie in, but I'm sick of paying for dreadful room service. -
Just thought I'd let people know, tonight I cancelled my sub. I'll probably still be around for RP for a bit, but I won't be able to post on here from the 9th.
Those that need to know, know where to find me.
Sick of all the problems lately, and other things call. -
Quote:Amazing? Maybe.. I'll let you know if the bloody thing ever works! This episode was totally amazing - there were loads of little details to flesh out the signature characters, and references to earlier events and missions - and some interesting new maps.
First try, I seemed to go into some kind of AE mode, didn't exemp down, couldn't open the door. Had to quit and restart. Lame.
Second try, got defeated, went to hosp, came back, click door, game crashed. Lame.
Did anyone test this bleedin' thing first? -
People were there when Ellie arrived at about 9:20ish...

Quote:Par for the course around here, Zwill.Yes, and this is my not happy face. We already had forum changes prepared and ready to go. Unfortunately a fairly serious issue popped up at the late stages of the maintenance which precipitated rolling the forum build back.
This is, as I was informed, a top priority to have addressed. -
Quote:The day customer service employees start putting paying customers on ignore for ANY reason other than abusive behaviour, is the day I no longer associate with that company or any subsidiaries. You are better off putting him on ignore than trying to explain things to him.
Speaking of which...
This is not an action someone like Zwil would ever consider doing. -
People care!
However, don't sweat it! December is usually a busy month for everyone, and RL beats RP every time. -
Quote:Scared of them? No.How´d you know what video I linked to?
So you suffer from Coulrophobia, that´s most likely not funny for you.
Not wanting to sound mean or something... but sorry, it´s just too hilarious (for me) when people really are afraid of clowns.
For your own sake, stay the hell away from me.
Creeped and weirded out by them? Yes. -
