so, no, it doesnt answer that one. preset points:
can you choose a subset of preset points ?
is it random ?
is it all of them ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, it does answer it, quite clearly...
[ QUOTE ]
Likewise mobs will spawn on the maps at preset points.
[/ QUOTE ]
Spawn locations are preset; you cannot control them at all. This only makes sense really as, if you COULD control them, you could load a specific point on your map with spawns and effectively make the mission impossible.
A little more digging in other posted information will reveal that each map always has a "boss room". As players, we're more then familiar with this concept as we see it all the time. This "boss room" is where your custom created boss is almost certainly going to spawn, and it's extremely unlikely that we'll be able to designate which room IS that boss room.
This DOES reduce the capabilities of the mission creator a fair bit, as well as not having ambushes as well, but a little creative thinking should be able to work around it.

hey wow. the censored bit in my post above makes it seem much ruder than it was intended to be. Sorry FFM, its not actually a rude word. think of an alternative way of saying intelligent or well dressed pair of buttocks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your question was somewhat of a silly question though, just leading people (well, me) to believe that you were too lazy to actually look up the information yourself and just wanted spoon feeding. If you'd actually said that you were unable to view the thread at the time, that would have been a different kettle of crocodiles. -

Some people love reading the stories and get very bored by doing the same, familiar missions again and again. MA is for them really. (... and the people who want to write the stories!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Damn right! I'm just hoping what I want to do will be possible! From what we know of it so far, I think it should be.
Probably going to need to use two arcs though.. Part 1 & Part 2!
-
[ QUOTE ]
Do the published arcs give full rewards?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not as far as I know... Or do you mean the ones promoted to the Hall of Fame? I believe I read somewhere than any promoted to that would probably get full rewards, as they'd become canon. -

[ QUOTE ]
The only fly in this particular ointment is how to fix a bug in a successful arc? Imagine you've written an arc and it's really popular. Lots of people have given it the thumbs up. Now someone notices a typo or something. You could just un-publish, fix the typo and re-publish but that will lose all the thumbs up. Maybe you'll just have to ask a GM to fix it for you.
[/ QUOTE ]well i think your going to need a gm to fix the typo if they rip it from your grasp and put it in the hall of fame as you won't be able to do anything to it then
[/ QUOTE ]
I highly doubt any bugged MA arcs would get into the Hall of Fame. Not without those bugs being fixed first anyway. -
[ QUOTE ]
I don't see how it could be a farmers paradise, since aside from selecting WHICH villan group you fight, you seem to have no control over what is spawned. So, for instance, if you are designing a mish to farm, say, Banished masks, since the MA decides what groups are spawned where you'll still only get the normal number of masks you would in any other Banished mission. Since we don't have control over what mobs are spawned, or where they are spawned, you can't load-up the mission with badge-granting baddies (or goodies for the villans).

[/ QUOTE ]
Because having control over the faction DOES allow you to farm... You can guarantee there's going to be clones of old favourites like Dreck, but with no timer. So NC make doing that less attractive by removing drops, making them only good for farming XP or inf, which is far less of a problem. -

While in an Architect mission, players will NOT get: end mission bonus, salvage, recipies, or enhancements.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like the MA but not the above. The mission bonus and the enhancemnets I can live without but not getting the normal rate of salvage and recipies. Too bad and boring in my op.
[/ QUOTE ]plus you missed of badges in there too
[/ QUOTE ]
But if you think about it for a moment, they really had little choice; otherwise the MA is just going to be a farmers paradise instead of what it's MEANT to be.
Plenty of people will use it, even if there weren't ANY rewards. They'll use it because of the stories. -

Just saw a bunch of them all with guns, never seen that in two years here, seems like fire breathing can wear on the old lungs after a while ... made me smile a little
[/ QUOTE ]wait until you got to cap and see Luddites using computer and talking on the mobile phone
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you'll find that's just more humour, in keeping with some of their dialog such as "Does this mean I have to give up my PSP?" -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, that's easy sorted, add a flag to the mission showing that it has cut scenes, that way people who don't like them can avoid them. Same with other things, like GMs or SG only missions, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why stop such people playing the mish though? Just add a flag to disable cutscenes! -
Problem is, your auto-ban suggestion is too easy to abuse.
No, sorry... I strongly feel that any decision to ban needs to be made buy a person, not influenced by board pressure. The trolls are nowhere near problematic enough to implement such a draconian feature, and your very suggestion is probably making them laugh; not to mention boosting their ego's.
The ONLY way to deal with a troll is to hit "Notify Moderator", followed by "Ignore this user". End of problem. -
[ QUOTE ]
any word on the ability to customise the map or if we can actually set teh spawn point for enemies instead of "front" "middle" and "back" of the map ?
[/ QUOTE ]
If you read the linked thread, you'd know the answer to both these questions. -

This is not done by the engine.. I found a post by the one who did all lip synch animation by hand. To make it look cooler.
The engine cant do this.
[/ QUOTE ]
the engine CAN do this, even the oldest 3D game ever can do this.
it's not the engine, it's if they want it in the game at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
How do you know? Have you seen the engine source code and are intimately familiar with it's capabilities; or are you just throwing a pot of hyperbole into the thread with your wild guesswork? -
I wouldn't count on being able to create factions... Unique bosses sure, but a complete faction would be WAY beyond the scope of such a tool...
-
Why should a new player, even if they're on a trial account, be restricted from taking part in the forum community just because one or two morons are making waves?
If people just didn't respond to the trolls, they'd eventually go away out of boredom.

[ QUOTE ]
Hmmm can we write the boss things?
You know what they say upon seeing you and while you battle them....
[/ QUOTE ]
It would be silly to NOT be able to do that, don't you think? -
I doubt any GM's in missions will be GM class... Probably an AV at best...

Also, while I may have an active WoW account, haven't played since November time :/ Just fell out of the mood for it, got in a CoH mood, now not leveling in CoH and not sure what mood I'm in.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, you done the "Breaking Linux" mood... How about a "Need to go shopping and buy kinky leather boots" mood?

Always possible, but fixes for this issue went in to i13 as far as I know, and they didn't help. I'm really surprised the hotfix isn't working for you, as everyone else is reporting sucess with it; which leads me to believe the issue is with your system.
-
Indeed. Another likely cause for this kind of thing is the motherboard drivers. Well worth updating those.
-
Check your shortcut. If you've only just installed the game, it's possible you're trying to start the wrong one. It should be pointing to a file named "Cohupdater.eu.exe". If it's not, you'll find this file inside the game folder.
-
Hmm... Replacing the card is an expensive solution; there really should be a way of resolving this without that need...
What driver version are you running with? Could you try the latest beta's, 181.22; making sure you clean out all previous versions first. I recommend Driver Cleaner for that. The latest version is pay, but version 1.5 is still available for free and works well. Make sure you reboot after cleaning the drivers.
After updating the video drivers, reapply the hotfix. Probably not necessary, but it can't hurt, right?

NOTE: With driver cleaner, I always do a normal uninstall from the control panel first, reboot, then run driver cleaner to tidy up, followed by another reboot. -
