Males have 2 models, females have 1. Males get one set of clothes that works on both models, females get 2 sets of clothes that works on their only model.

    Sounds pretty fair to me.

Thank you so much for this, and all the other parts! And if I can be cheeky... I don't suppose you can try to fit the hat that went with the Baron jacket into your todo list, could you? That hat is soooo awesome!

And many of us would rather our own characters have their own stories and be well known or even famous in their own right (something very likely in Union's shared RP'verse), than be Statesman9845, or Numina3894. You can't all be that big name NPC, and so none of you should be. Anyone claiming to be such WILL get vilified or just ignored.

Caveat: There's a minor, sort of exception, to this. Tribute characters. There's no problem with having a character who was inspired by the NPC and chooses to have perhaps part of their unique look incorporated into their own, but not direct rip offs.

There's also no problem with knowing the NPC's ICly, but you don't get to be their best friend or lover or what have you. That's just you wanting to be that super special snowflake and you know what? There are whole sections of TVTropes devoted to such characters, and not in a good way.

I am, however, not a godmoder. I made the name on a whim and while feeling derpy. If it becomes something serious, then eh. Most likely won't though
OK, I'll gladly backpedal on that and apologise if this is the case.
  7. Definitely agree on the locale. I was a long time member of the Galaxy Girl crew on Union, untill the devs blew it up (man, were we steamed about that one! 6 years history down the tubes! ).

We tried relocating to Founders, but since Christmas, have ended up in Pocket D with everyone else. You get used to it, but I miss our old spot.

Cool. Another godmodder to put on my ignore list and warn people about. I hope he enjoys only having you to RP with, because no one else is going to.

I suggest you read up on Zeus, the Well and Kheldians, because you got all three so utterly wrong that it's not even funny.

Now... Regarding god characters in CoH. The game lore makes it quite plain that previous gods on Primal Earth were incarnates who achieved their full potential, and became sources of potential themselves. None of them are "God", the big guy with the big G and the beard etc, there's just humans who became incredibly powerful that they effectively became god-like.

The lore also tells us that all races have a Well, which is nothing more than the potential of a race, and therefore all races will have incarnates who achieved this same status. That gives us plenty of wiggle room for making any kind of god we want.

However, and this is the key point. God characters are utterly BORING! They have ultimate power, they are perfection itself, have no problems, can do anything they want at the wave of a finger, except that actually... they can't. Why the hell would anyone in their right mind want to play a character that has no growth potential, and who the hell would play WITH such a character. I know I sure as hell wouldn't.

In fact, when my characters come across such "gods", their usual reaction is to call the men in white coats.

Follow the tank is a good default to avoid wipes, unless the tank is being an idiot and going over his aggro cap all the time, but for many toons and teams is unnecessary.
Kinda difficult to get squishies killed when I a) generate more threat than squishies on my PB, and b) don't leave the mobs alive long enough anyway.

In other MMO's I've played, when running through tough dungeons, if a squishy class runs ahead of the tank and pulls initial aggro he's apt to die quickly. If the healer tries to keep him alive the healer will often gain heal aggro, meaning the tank now has to pry the mobs off of the healer. I've seen too many team and even raid wipes that happened exactly this way, even caused by people who have played long enough to know better.

    So... follow the tank.
Who needs tanks? I don't follow anyone slower than me and if the team is too slow to pay attention to where I've jumped too next on my PB, they don't get to complain that I haven't left them any mobs to kill.

    So, Floaty's rules.

    1. Have fun, always.
    2. Kick arrogant jerks and whiner babies off the team quickly. These people are not fun.
    3. No vacillating. I REALLY hate when a team just stops for a breath, and then no one takes any initiative about getting going again. The team can rest if they want to, *I'M* gonna go hit that bad guy over there.
    4. See #1.
  13. There are two very good reasons why you really shouldn't do it.

    1. The devs can and do change canon at any time, which could easily totally invalidate your character.
    2. You'll be known as a "super special snowflake", because you're placing your character into canon, a level higher than ANY player characters can attain. This is not a good rep for a roleplayer.

People don't like being godmodded, fella. If you don't like the attitude seen here, stop telling people how to RP. Nobody is going to go along with your silly ideas so I suggest you either drop them, or RP solo. Either way, you're heading down a lonely road right now, and that's not a good place for a roleplayer.

Why would that ruin our day? It's just pathetic and stupid. Why don't you use your imagination and make your OWN characters and stories instead of badly godmodding the devs?

Assuming you HAVE an imagination, of course. So far, I'm not seeing it.
  17. I'll counter these "tips" with some of my own.

    1. Always keep names on and target the player you're going to talk to. Whilst your at it, absolutely DO check their bio as there's likely to be important info in there. It's quite possible that the character you're about to interact with is well known enough to be recognizable on sight and that's info you'd need to know. It's important, though, to remember the line between OOC knowledge, and IC knowledge.

    2. Never, ever, EVER try to be one of the game NPC's, or anyone related to a game NPC, or even a close friend of an game NPC; not even dead ones. This is godmodding of the worst kind. Just don't do it. Many RPers will just walk away from you at best, or vilify you at worst.

    3. DO use the lore, but do not make it your own. Never EVER make yourself the centre of canon storylines. Instead, use the lore to help your character grow and develop and make your OWN story. You can be the centre of things when it's your own story and though you might get people calling you a grandstander if you go ITT, you won't be called a godmodder.

    4. Don't disrespect other RPers by forcing yourself on their conversation. Assess the RP around you and only jump in if it seems appropriate to do so. Nothing annoys people more than random strangers just butting in on them. Consider this, would you walk up to complete strangers and force yourself on their conversation in RL? No? Then it's probably not good to do it in RP either.

    5. Counter to point 4 aboove, when involved in RP, don't just walk away from them as if they don't matter, it's incredibly rude! Would you do that to someone you were talking to in RL? No, I didn't think so. Sure things can happen in RL that mean you have to afk, but it only takes a second to type "AFK" or "BRB". Try to remember that on the other side of that character you're talking to is a real person, just like you, who is hopefully enjoying the RP.
  18. One thing I will add to this, when playing a prejudiced character, remember this is not Marvel. There is no general prejudice against mutants, meta's or even aliens in the CoH universe. Individual prejudice happens, but I've seen people refer to a general hatred against them and there just isn't any in CoH.

Because the last time they tried to drag data out of the game to the website, it was.... *not good* for the servers? (See also City Vault.) And that was just viewing character data.
As a professional developer myself, I had doubts about their reasoning behind why the City Vault was scrapped. There's just no way a simple SQL read query would affect game performance. I suspect it was more likely security concerns. I know our customers REALLY wouldn't like their database anywhere where a web browser can get at it, even as read only..

That said, kind of a silly change, but not quite end of the world either.
The time is long past where a lot of people help others just for the sake of helping. I've even seen people demanding inf for their help...

It's not just this MMO either, it's all over. The golden age is over, now it's all about self.
  21. One thing I don't really get is, well... Why a coyote!? With all the wolf based costume parts in the game, it seems only sensible to me to do a wolf travel power, to give the werewolf characters in the game that full on final transformation vibe...

  23. The idle animations are WAY too fast, just like they are for the german shephard pet. Also, the run animation is far too fast as well... All you see is a blur.

They need to look again at these "travel powers"... Considering their price, they are WAY to inconvenient to be worth the money. Maybe if they didn't detoggle and suppress everything.

Anyway, meh. If it had been a tiger or other feline (preferably a tiger!), I'd have paid in a second.
