Yet, I fear whatever cometh our way, I14, 5th anniversary (I15?), will cause me and many more to say "Meeeh, neeext!". Lagfixes, new gfx engine, bubble corrs, claw brutes, more high level content/TF/SF will go a long way, but most of us has prolly been here for too long. CoX has become an oool' friend of ours, like the wife...
...can't live with it, can't live without it!

If your other half reads that, you are SOOOOOOOOOO dead.

Apparently the 5th column make a comeback for the 5th anniversary event, it was in an interview, i forget where though. They said something along the lines of "we're looking foward to something special from the 5th......anniversary" subtlety obviously not being a prerequisite of press releases.
I can't find the quote now though.
(in other news, 1st post!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah that, yeah. Vaguely remember that...
Oh, and welcome to the forums!

5th aniversary event, coming in April or May.
[/ QUOTE ]
Has this actually been officially confirmed though, or is it still rumour? -
	[ QUOTE ]
Agreed. For me it was when they took an existing game mechanic (Respecs) and rather than making it easily more accessible by making the last trial reward repeatable chose to charge for them instead.
[/ QUOTE ]
Who wants to bet you'll be able to buy purple recipes before too long?

Ya know what ya could do - just let it go - an alien concept on these forums, but theres always a 1st for everything.
[/ QUOTE ]
What, and let him get away with falsely accusing people of being elitist? That wouldn't be very elitist of me, would it?

        		 -
	[ QUOTE ]
Oh dear gods, is that a bible quote?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, it does have SOME useful passages in it.
        		 -
What I personally think would be better would be to have two events for each of the holidays, and alternate between them, so one year you get the current valentine event, and next year you get something else, then the year after, back to this one.
At least it'd make them get stale a bit slower... -
I never once said I *wasn't* elitist, at least at times. I just think it's hilarious that you're accusing people of such, when you're absolutely NO better at all.
Judge not, lest ye be judged. -
	[ QUOTE ]
There is no double standard because i simply know i am not elitist in anyway shape or form. I don't think myself better than anyone else, i use my knowledge of the game to help others. If i thought i was elitist in anyway then i would not have made this thread because a) that would make me a hypocrite and b) it would not qualify me to make the judgements i have already.
If anything the behaviour your now expressing proves my point that in-fact some people on here are on a high horse and can't express an opinion without throwing around accusations to make themselves feel better
[/ QUOTE ]
And I say again, a little clearer this time. ANYthing one person can do can be seen as elitist by another, and vice versa. As for you being qualified to make such "judgements", why are you any more qualified to make them than anyone else here, including myself? See, again, that's an elitist attitude you're taking there. You can judge people as elitists, but they can't do the same. So who's the elitist?
Don'tcha just LOVE turnabout?
As for me being on a high horse, actually it's quite a low swivel chair, and rather comfy too. I'm no more throwing around accusations than you are; less so in fact because I didn't consider myself qualified to judge other people and call them elitists. You're the one who did that, all by your lonesome. -
	[ QUOTE ]
Any insinuation that i am in any way Elitist is frankly, offensive.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wasn't. As JawDropper said, I was merely demonstrating that such an attitude can easily be SEEN as being elitist. That's just the way the world goes. You see certain peoples behaviour as elitist, so you made a thread saying so; then you take offense when someone else points out that something YOU do could also be seen as elitist.
See the double standard there?
Oh, and JawDropper.. You're not one of my fanboys? I'm hurt!

Meh.
Found a link to the US forums about it
Linky
Seems to be exactly the same as last year.........wow, that's dull

[/ QUOTE ]
This is why I don't bother with the annual events much anymore. All I did at Christmas was the new ski run and didn't bother running Snaptooth at all... I won't bother with the valentine one either. -
	[ QUOTE ]
Fortunatly we have used Global Friends for Aurealis's friend and also our SG. We now have a tight core of people who team regularly together which makes the game fun. It's all about finding your niche.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thing is, this in itself is actually very elitist as you're saying you don't want to play with other people, just the ones you consider to be fun and good to play with.
Elitism goes more than one way.
        		 -
	[ QUOTE ]
Nothing is acbsolutely required, but there a few hints that will almost universally make playing a toon a lot more fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
So slap a hint for it on loading screens, like current hints are. Certainly no need for it to be a popup message when you load. That would just be seen as a failure on the devs part to not make it an inherent. -
	[ QUOTE ]
there are only a few Stam - less builds ..and try explaining End Reduc Enhancements and slotting takes way longer , as such slotting will change across levels .
Hmm may be i am a Stam elitist ..na couldnt be ..
[/ QUOTE ]
Couldn't disagree with you more. Hell, I took a PB all the way to level 50, as a triform, with neither Stamina OR EndRedux enhancements. Sure I had a little downtime between fights, but it certainly wasn't a problem. -
	[ QUOTE ]
Why are people arguing about charity?
[/ QUOTE ]
Give people half a chance, and they'll argue about ANYTHING.
Folks, if you don't wish to donate to EveryChild, then it's simple; don't buy the sketchbook. It's common in industry these days for corporations to nominate their own charity, so why should NC be any different?
@deathkitten
If you don't like the sketches, you're free to get some professional comic artists together to produce some sketches for you for free and then publish your OWN sketchbook, to support YOUR favourite charity. No one is stopping you...

	[ QUOTE ]
the problem is trying to explain you have to get to level 20 to be able to get Stamina ..
..now that would make a good Vet reward ..stamina with no pre req's
by now you thing it would be on the first splash screen .. GET STAMINA ....
[/ QUOTE ]
Why should it? Stamina is useful sure, but by no means essential. I've made plenty of successful builds without it, so telling people they NEED it is just another form of elitism.

	[ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry but i don't agree. I'm not getting into the whole name and shame game but there are a few people on here that facilitate this behaviour quite often.
[/ QUOTE ]
A "few" people do not constitute a problem.
[ QUOTE ]
Seriously if a duplicate thread were a problem then GR would remove it, But he doesn't. Going over the same ground with new people is an inevitable part of forums and will always be. There is really no need for people to be arrogant or be a self appointed moderator about other people's posts in my opinion.
[/ QUOTE ]
GR *does* remove them; however by far the greater majority of them occur on Friday evening, after GR has left for the weekend. As for the "elitism" you think exists over some particular subjects, things like the server merge threads for example. Almost everyone on the forums were getting sick of them, and certain people, who themselves could easily be called elitists, completely ignored GR's instruction that these posts stop. -
Alas, no. After the tanker left, the only other (IMO) decent blaster also decided to leave, losing the level 38 scrapper his SK so he'd have been facing +4's, and it had already taken 2 hours by this point. I was on my level 50 fire/ice blaster, exemped down to 42, so couldn't SK him...
 -
	[ QUOTE ]
While I'm sure there are people who think they know all and have a serious case of elitism I think it's unfair to say that it's that bad on this forum.
I'm a total noob when it comes to how to play stuff in this game.I hit random power buttons and most of the time it works out well enough...(okay...you do learn a thing or two after so many months) and I never felt that people on here treated me as a noob or thought of me different.
So, while I'm not saying there aren't people on here and in the game who are elitist I think some of you are exaggerating the problem.
Imo of course.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly what I'm saying. There might be a few individuals who portray such behaviour at times; but it most definitely is NOT a problem here. -
	[ QUOTE ]
Now if I forgot to say don't press the red button then its my fault, I expect people to not go right ahead and do things they have no idea of what the consequence will be of, but every so often someone adds to the plan and faffs it all up. Because I have already said but the warning went unheeded at everyones expense its time for a disciplinary hearing..
So ya see not like work at all

[/ QUOTE ]
I had an ITF a bit like that the other night... Such fun when you have a tanker which:
1. Doesn't have taunt
2. Doesn't speak to the rest of the team, except to say "AFK" in the middle of a rather large mob of elite bosses on lag hill.
3. Doesn't listen to the rest of the team when we say how we're going to handle a particular mob. (and in fact, decided to go annoy the Minotaur and the Sybil right after being told specifically to keep the hell away from them, and triggering the rather large waves of Nictus that ensue...)
4. Is suffering from a seriously bad case of scrapperlock
I lost count of the number of teamwipes we had before he decided to quit at the start of the final mission... -
	[ QUOTE ]
But that just isn't true. EQI and EQII, GW, TR (RIP), and Warhammer (to an extent) have perfectly friendly, welcoming communities.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of those, I've only played GW and TR there's no way would I ever rate them as newbie friendly as CoH. I like how you had to qualify Warhammer. Either a game is friendly, or it isn't. "to an extent" really is just you saying it's not very friendly.
[ QUOTE ]
WoW and EVE have bad reputations, sure, but they hardly run new players away (due to the community, gameplay can).
[/ QUOTE ]
Clearly, you've either not read or taken part the WoW forums, or tried to go beyond the tutorial in EVE.
[ QUOTE ]
CoH/V may have a friendly reputation, but we're not the only one; and when we do have flamewars, by god we go the whole hog.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't call the flamewars we've had here flamewars exactly; not in comparison to many other MMO's. Flameskirmishes, maybe. -
	[ QUOTE ]
I would have to agree with the OP FFM.
I don't - and have never played - WoW or EVE but elitism certainly does exist in this game and on these forums.
Personally speaking, the worst possible place I can think of to send a brand new player to would be here.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you think there is an elitism problem HERE, don't EVER try those two games. The "elites" there will chew you up and spit you out in about 5 seconds, and that's on a SLOW day. -
Gratz to all! Especially DD who's a friend of mine.
        		 -
	[ QUOTE ]
I'm not really meaning to rant, I just genuinely want new people to feel welcome and not have to worry about advanced game systems simply because someone with attitude thinks they should be using them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thing is. CoX is THE most new player friendly MMO on the market, without exception. Try being a newbie in EVE or WoW and see what kind of experience you get.
Personally, I think you're seriously overstating this perceived "problem" of elitism. -

[ QUOTE ]
Elitists? Naaaaah, not around here mate.
You're completely and utterly wrong, get off my forums.

With or without smiley, OP point proven!

Oh shut up and give us a kiss you big smelly smurf!
