Quote:It's always kinda puzzled me as to why there wasn't a Spanish server, at least on the US cluster...The other one I was thinking might be quite a popular idea is a Spanish speaking server. I know the US has a fairly large Latin population, and there's bound to be a percentage of them playing City Of...I might be making a redundant suggestion here, maybe there's already an unofficial Spanish server? But if there isn't and then one became available, would it be warmly received?

High above the carnage at Spankey's Boardwalk, a glittering sphere of energy drifted down from the clouds, finally coming to a halt a dozen meters above the churning water.
A woman's disembodied voice sounded from within the sphere, as if talking to itself. "Bloody hell, what a complete fiasco... What the hell are these idiots doing?"
The voice paused, as if listening to something, before replying again. "I suppose I should, but REALLY... Even rookie's don't put civilians in this kind of danger... God I hate this city..."
Energy crackled around the sphere as the voice stopped, and a second later there was a roaring crack of thunder and the sphere vanished, replaced with a slender, white haired woman with cat ears and a long tail. Surplus energy crackled around her white and black armoured body, making her instantly recognizable as a member of the Unity Vigil.
Eye's glowing with an intense light, she swooped down from the sky, grabbed the wrists of several civilians still floundering in the water and carried them to the relative safety of the beach.
Finally, with the last of the civilians beached, she turned her attention to the "heroes" that had caused this carnage.
"Just what the BLOODY hell are you MORONS doing!? You could have gotten all these people KILLED!" Energy crackled around her body as she raged at them. "Honestly, I've never seen such a complete and utter bunch of losers in my LIFE!"
Looking up at M221, she yelled. "Hey you! Robocop! Get your tin butt down here and do your bloody job of PROTECTING people!" -
Quote:Oh give me a break! I only dipped the penguin in it ONCE!The chocolate fountain is also well received. However as a result (of some of the EU forum members
) I fear we'll need a method of keeping the fountain clean. And mess free. Therefore I propose the following: A giant kitchen roll dispenser; a big plastic glove dispenser; hospital-grade hand soap; showers.

Quote:We've already got a butler, his name is Benson. We need penguins! Lots of penguins, they can earn their keep as butlers then amuse us with their amusing antics. We can turn the useless stables for the stupid useless horses into an ice pool thingy for the critters and keep our beers in there too! Also somewhere to keep any spare horse meat if it doesn't all fit in the massive freezer that has yet to be mentoned after their all slaughtered to feed us and make way for our flightless buddies!
But I don't mind the penguins staying. What are they like with BBQ sauce? -
Quote:Actually, I DO mangle grammer from time to time, however that last bit WAS somewhat of a BIT of hyperbole. I did get replies... Automated ones closing the log as, and I quote "You weren't online when we tried to contact you".Hmm...
So which is it? That's the present perfect up there you used. I get the impression that you're not one to mangle your grammar. I'm not accusing you of selective memory in order to support your griping, but...ok, I am.
Of course I wasn't online, they tried to contact me at 3 in the bloody morning... -

A double post!
So much for THAT getting fixed! -

*shrug* Maybe it's improved lately. I don't petition any more, haven't done for MONTHS, as I never EVER got a reply. Got sick of bothering, so these days when I hit a bug in a mission, I just drop it instead. Or go play something else.

Quote:I actually lived in Florida for 6 months, back in 1983/4.What's really funny, here, people who've lived in Florida for several generations are called 'crackers'. We even have a yearly 'Florida Cracker Festival'. Yet, anywhere else in the US, cracker is a derogatory term for either white people in general or redneck/hicks.
So technically, I'm a cracker in a good way to some and in a bad way to others. Heehee... it cracks me up though. I mean seriously, all I can do is laugh or go mad.Town called Holiday, just up from Tarpon Springs.

Quote:We get NONE of that, didn't even know you HAD Dev attended events on Thursday.
Be that as it may, if you are playing a laggy dev-free game with horrible GMs, then you have my sympathy. it must be awful. Lets hope they 'merge' server lists in the same way they did with the forums, eh? Then you'll be able to take part in Dev-attended events at 4:30am on a thursday in pocket D, experience the wonder that is Freedoms AP AE building on a double xp rikti invasion weekend, and use the admittedly great in-game US GMs (average time to respond In my experience 5 minutes).

As for GM response time, it's anywhere from a few hours, to your petition being automatically closed without even an automated email... In 4+ years of playing, I've NEVER had a GM get back to me in anything less than 3 days... -

Quote:Florida is my favourite part of the US... In Winter.Anyway, maybe the merging of the forums is the beginning of the end of the seperation issues? Hopefully.
And I truly hope it IS a beginning of the end of such issues, but things like this name issue REALLY don't help... -

Quote:To understand it fully, you would have needed to be a member of the EU community for a while. Part of the feeling is the almost non-existent dev interaction; something that's always kinda annoyed many of us, especially the more vocal forum members, another is that our suggestions are pretty much universally ignored, another is the fact that US and EU GM's run on different rules completely, with you having the much better deal.this is interesting to me, a Brit who's been playing on the US servers for 4.5 yrs now. Why do you say this?
The EU players get the exact same game, dont they? Is it purely the shortfall in server numbers Compared to the US game that irks you?
Is the UK game laggy or often down for long periods?
Who is 'some of us', btw, is it a signidicant enough portion to warrant NCSoft listening to from an economic point of view? I dont kbow about the UK game, but there are. Numbers somewhere that show that the US forumgoers are a tiny portion of the US playerbase. Is this different for the UK subscriptions?

In fact, on that side, one of our members carried out an experiment. He accidentally deleted one of his characters EU side, and was told by a GM that it was policy not to restore deleted chars. Obviously that annoyed him greatly as he KNEW that wasn't the case in the US. So, he created a US account, made a character, then deleted it and petitioned the GM's. His character was restored with no quibbles whatsoever. Nice, eh?
Another is that yes, our game IS significantly more laggy than the American one, and in fact, in the UK at least, we can get a FAR better connection to the US servers than we can to our own, which is ridiculous. Nothing has EVER been done to address this, despite MANY complaints.
Hell, we even got Global Chat nearly a full YEAR after it was launched in the US...
This thing with GrinningSpades name is just one more thing to add to it all. It blatantly sends out the message that US sensibilities are more important than EU ones.
EDIT: I'd point out though, that this isn't by any means, a universal feeling among EU players, but it IS felt among quite a few. -

Quote:Kind of a shame that our national team stink to high heaven though, thanks to all the big league teams spending a fortune on foreign players and not investing enough in local talent.I much prefer the way things are now. Premier League #1 (and I'm mainly happy about this because it means I can watch the best football in the world on terrestrial tv cause I'm lucky enough to be in the same country as the greatest football league in the world. Perhaps with the tiniest smattering of FFMesque national pride, irrational as it is
)
BTW, I loath and despise footie, so don't be expecting ANY national pride on my front when it comes to that silly game. -
Quote:Perhaps, and if so, then perhaps my feeling that this is more than just an issue over a name will be vindicated.FFM - i think you're going to be disappointed, then.

In which case, the EU community may be proven to be as irrelevant to NCSoft as some of us have often felt.
