.. Care to expand on why, or are you just gonna leave the rest of the universe in suspense?

Personally, I've always seen "queer" as a derogatory term for homosexuals, and would never use it, no matter what popular usage makes of it.

Relieved of the massive strain of holding a whale and several dozen tons of water in the air, Tiger White was finding it MUCH easier to hold the field in place now that they'd been moved into the water.
So much so in fact, that the intense glow surrounding her had faded as she was now able to keep the field at minimum strength, just enough to deter the whale from leaving, and had now turned to face it and was, in fact, singing.
But it wasn't any kind of song a human would recognize. It was high pitched, lilting, and sounded rather a lot like the sounds you'd hear on a Discovery Channel program about ceteceans...
((M221's database would show Tiger White (Ellie Stoneberg) as a long serving and very well known hero of Paragon. Her record indicates she doesn't take well to authority, and less than a year ago spent time in the Ziggurat penitentiary for assaulting a civilian in a nightclub. Further data on her is classified. Her current status shows her as having been inactive for several months.)) -
Tiger White's voice protrayed the strain she was under as she held the huge mass of whale and water within her field.
"Whatever... Robbie. I.. don't know.. your name... so it's just... something.. to call you... alright? Now.. How about you.. shut UP eh? I'm a bit too.. busy... to chat right.. now..." -
I tried root beer once, quite possibly the second most vile thing I've ever tasted in America.
The first most vile was American bacon.. URGH! No wonder they have cholesterol problems! -
Pff.. All these silly dates.
The world doesn't end until *I* say so! And right now, I'm having WAY too much fun with it! -
Quote:Tiger White looked at Vox, her expression unsure. "Let's find out, shall we? Probably a good idea if people get out the way though..."Vox watches Tiger White move towards the whale.
"Can you get some of the water already around Krill Killer in the forcefield with you? Can your forcefield hold water?"
Splashing into the water, she moved to a point about halfway down the whale's body and spread her arms out to the side. Energy began to arc furiously around her body, until she dissappeared within an almost blindingly white aura of Kheldian light energy, and a huge energy field flickered into place around the whale.
Indististinct at first, the field flickered a few times as Tiger White struggled to stabilise it, she'd never tried to create a shield this large before, and the water she'd trapped inside it sloshed over her, covering the whale up to the open wound in its head.
Her voice sounded from within the bubble, a slight echoing timbre to it, and a definite hint of strain there too. "I'll open the top.. Fill it, quickly"
True to her word, the top of the field puckered inwards, forming the promised hole. -
Hearing the urgent request for a forcefield, Tiger White pushed past Kip and his girlfriend and hurried towards Ibuprofen.
"I've got it, miss. If we can move him carefully into the water, I'll raise my personal shield around us, seal him in with me. I can keep up the healing too whilst I'm at it, but I'm only rated as a field medic, not a full empath."
Glaring at M221, she snapped. "Will that suit you, Robocop?" -

Yep, there sure are!
But it's not the games MAKING them disturbed, they were already disturbed. -
I remember it well. It was REALLY "hilarious" when it turned out the guy that did it had never even played Counter Strike...

Quote:Then I hope they seriously lock down exactly what constitutes a violent game, because correct me if I'm wrong, but whilst CoH isn't an FPS, you DO get to run around gunning down humanoids...No DeathKitten, this Intiative in the German Parliament is targeting purely the title is conciders blatant ie: Crysis, Farcry, MoH, etc, basically anything that buts you in FPS mode gunning down humanoids. Its supposed to stop lunatics being inspired to play their fantasies out in real-life and I believe the whole intiative was started after a german university rampage killing.
And it has a FPS view mode too. -
Quote:In 4.5 years and 17,609 posts, you're the ONLY one who's ever misunderstood them. Or rather, to be more accurate, you're the only one that's SAID they don't understand my meaning.you assuming that your smileys convey to anyone what you think they do. They don't.
Or at least they didn't, until I asked you to clarify.
Now everyone knows for example that if you send them a wink, you're not flirting with them.

Maybe it's just you, hmm? -
I refer you back to an earlier post of mine, where I said that ALL my posts should be taken as an IMO.
I have never, and never WILL, claim that what I say applies universally, so quit attempting to insinuate that I am, if you please. -
Not to mention the complete loss of the entire German community in the game... That would also suck.
-
Quote:Perhaps, but if they did relocate them; it would cost almost as much to do as setting them up did in the first place...They'd just move the servers to the UK and all the better for it I bet they'd be run better than the joke we have at the moment where the lag is less for european people on the US servers than the EU ones...
Oh well... I suppose it could be incentive to shift us all to the US. -
Quote:Well, that's the question, isn't it? It's certainly not something that could happen overnight; it'd need contracts with hosts negotiating, not to mention finding hosts with enough capacity, and it'd be really expensive too... I believe all of NC's EU served games are hosted at the same datacentre, including Guild Wars, so it's not a small task...They're planning on doing what?! Geez :s
Um, if that legislation passes, wouldn't it just mean that the servers would be moved to a different nation instead of being shut down? Or at least that's what I imagine would happen - it would be just plain daft to outright shut them down :/ -
OK, I couldn't resist the title, sorry. However, I came across some gaming news today that COULD have a rather drastic impact on us as EU CoH players.
Here's the article...
Crytek will leave Germany if country bans action games
Now, whilst Crytek leaving Germany has no immediate affect on us directly, what DOES worry me somewhat, is this legislation could well kill EU CoH if it passes.
Why? Because the EU servers for CoH are in Germany, and CoH is a game which comes under the "violent action games - or ones that involve violent acts against human or human-like characters." classification.
IF this legislation passes, it would mean that the EU servers would be shut down by law...
What do you folks think? -
Quote:I assume that people apply the meaning to a smiley that the smiley is designed to convey. Winkey's or Tonguey's are usually used to convey humour. You assume that everyone applies the exact same meaning to a smiley as you, do you? you come across to me (others might see different of course) as quite arrogant, sometimes, you know.
Quote:I'm not trying to start an argument, FFM. But some people might assume that the poking tongue was directed at the Germans.
Thanks for finally clarifying, anyway.

You say you're British. Surely then, you should know that the towels on the sunbeds thing is very much a standing joke in the UK? It's no different to the ones we fire at the French, or they at us us in return.
In truth, the ONLY thing I dislike about Germans, is actually their government, and then only that they're trying to ban computer games that feature any violence even remotely directed as humans, or human-like targets.
If that legislation goes through, the EU CoH servers are GONE. They're HOSTED in Germany! -
Quote:Unlike some people, I don't misuse smilies. If I use one, it's to indicate whatever emotion the smiley shows. In this case, it was poking out its tongue, indicating a joke.Charming. Why you feel the need to avoid answering a simple question and insult me as well, I've no idea.
I don't know you well enough to know if the smileys appended to your comments were intended to note that you were joking or that you found the thought of throwing other peoples towels into the pool funny.
Which is why I asked for clarification.
