What the hell is "aglutinate", and why are you trying to do it to French players? I'm sure there's laws against that kind of thing...
-
Quote:The other solution is to transfer all the EU players to US servers, however there are several BIG problems with that.Do you really think adding 4 empty servers to a list where there are already 8 empty servers (all bar Freedom, Virtue and Infinity) would really achieve anything?
Well, NCSoft would probably make some insta cash when everyone started moving chars to Freedom/Virtue leaving EU servers even emptier, but besides that, can't see any other benefit.
1. Global name clash. Do they tag everyone with _EU and _US? We saw how well THAT went down on the forums! EU people lose names? Many would just quit if that happened.
2. Character name clash, see #1.
3. Localisation. French and Germans would completely lose localisation
4. Destination servers. Which servers do they move us to? You can bet it would NOT be Freedom or Virtue as those are already heavily populated. I for one would want ALL of my Union characters transferred to Virtue, as they're RP characters.
5. Stigmata. Every time a game merges servers, it gives the market the impression that they're struggling to survive. This is NOT good for garnering new subs. Merging the server LISTS, however, doesn't have that stigmata. -
Quote:Merging the servers themselves WOULD have that negative effect, yes. Merging the server LISTS, however, would not.
At the end of the day, everytime seems more and more obvious that a server merge would be most beneficial for the game, though not having done so before Champions release could now be perceived as a sign of weakness though let's face it, as bad as CO is, it has had a certain impact in CoH playerbase whether we like it or not, but that's a different story. Regarding the merged server lists, I'd personally rather a character transfer like the old US-EU transfers so I could aglutinate all my chars from my two EU accounts into my two US accounts. -
TBH, one of the main reasons for us having our own server farm in the first place, was maintenance times. Now they've shafted us on that, and gotten shot of our own NC office, what REALLY is the point of having EU servers anymore, hmmm?
Just merge the sodding server lists and get it over with. -
I don't usually leave anything alive long enough to worry about taking much damage whilst form shifting.
In fact, all I'd like them to do now is fix it so that when going from Nova to Dwarf (or vice versa), you don't drop to human first.. No need to speed the transform up or anthing, just get rid of the silly swap to human first... There's no real advantage gained in doing it, it just would LOOK better. -

Quote:Ah, but we can't DISCUSS it there, and they didn't make a discussion thread for the announcement..Pointless post is pointless. We can read the announcements page.
Anyway, it's pretty clear they're getting closer and closer to unifying everything, so I say to them, just get the sodding server merge over and done with, will you? Getting fed up with things now. Everything is done to convenience the US players these days, and EU gets disregarded as usual because we don't have enough numbers to count anymore. -
Quote:Yup, I was in the beta and nope. It was Issue 3 but without the Council/5th battles.Edit: bah, I need to read the thread, and each post, in order, before responding
Really? I guess my memory is bad, I thought they were in the beta at a minimum. So, were you in the beta? Did it have Striga and stuff in it, or was it like, Issue 2 with Council instead of 5th?
Quote:No, I'm remembering statements about them being in the EU version of the game, either beta or live. Obviously these statements were either false, or I'm falsely remembering them. However, I would not have confused EU people playing the US version with this, because I have had a native German, playing on my US server from Germany, in my SG since October of 2004. -
Oh, I definitely approve of Win 7 over Vista.
NEVER do an upgrade though. Microsoft have done a lot to improve that process, and it's generally fine these days; but really, if you're upgrading your OS, you want to start with as clean a slate as possible, so go from clean if you can.
Aside from the video driver model upgrade (which is being backported to Vista anyway), there are no driver differences between the two. A Vista x64 driver will work fine on Win7 x64. What MAY be the cause of your problem is something like motherboard/chipset drivers. It's probably a good idea to get those fully up to date, same for your audio drivers as well.
There are some changes to Win7's network stack that might help as well, but I don't actually notice any difference between the two OS's when it comes to network performance. -
It's extremely unlikely that Vista is the cause of your lag. I've certainly never experienced anything like you describe and I use Vista x64 AND Windows 7 x64 RC. Both run sweet as a nut.
I'd be looking at some other cause for your lag, such as your ISP or perhaps a driver related issue. -
Quote:As has been said many times, the server status page is NOT reliable, so why bother to look at it?I've had problems logging in this morning, although the server status is "up" i couldn't connect to the login server ... maybe there should be a status for the login server as well
If you can't login between 8am and 10am, that's the scheduled maintenance time slots. -
They were removed from the game before the EU launch went live, before the EU beta too. We EU only players had never seen them until Orobouros was introduced.

It's not a bug. it was posted about by the Devs at the time.. It's intentional and a test of swimming.
-
Don't get TOO excited. It's just a pool in one of the Cimerorororororora cave maps... They did it as an experiment, a proof of concept. IIRC, one of the new devs at the time worked it out in a quiet afternoon, almost by accident.

How about a story arc like the Midnighters one, that opens up an undersea domed base crawling with Fifth Column and Coralax? That'd give you a mini-zone sort of like the Roman one, with the possibility of missions outside the dome, actually in the water...
They have the tech to do it... We've all seen that map where you can actually go underwater for a bit. -
Looks like someone lost their boss farm!
I suggest you get out of the AE building and try some proper missions. Much more fun to play, and the XP rolls in. -
Quote:I remember it well! I was at the back of the crowd, turned around, and there you were! A quick poke to everyone and w00t! We have a Z!I'd come 300 or so miles to see these people, and was about to let my disorders get the better of me and rob me of their company over dinner and the rest of the evening. And at that point, -I- decided not to give in. I made a choice to stand up to myself, turn around, and bolt back down after them, caught up to them and had a great evening.
Always remember. YOU made that decision, hun; no bugger else. It was YOUR determination and strength of will that overcame your fears, and out of that, gained a whole bunch of really nice folks as friends.
IN YOUR EYE PRE-DETERMINISTIC BULLPOOP! -

Quote:Would be a good excuse to reuse that rather nifty submarine base map in Fautline. Reskinned, of course.Edit: Just think about it, theres all that water/islands up there unused, they MUST have something planned for it or at least considered it. Would be my personal placement of a 5th base anyway. Within reach of everything that they need!

Quote:Here here! It really is about time these people shaved their beatnik beards off, got off of their lazy rear ends, and went out and got a job.The reason philosophers really don't get jobs is that they not only talk a load of balderdash, but they insist on talking pointless balderdash.

OK.. I have 2 things to say on this subject.
The first is that anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of physics knows that determination is a load of rubbish. It's is an observed feature of the universe that chaos is a fact. It is not merely hard to predict with certainty. the future form of the universe based on observable data, it is impossible. Probability zero. If the probability was non-zero, then you would KNOW whether Schrödinger's cat was alive or dead before opening the box.
Some maths.
Things like Boyles Law are pretty good at predicting what gases will do, but it's not perfect. There is still a zero probability that things will not act in a statistically expected manner.
Translation: There is a zero probablity of predicting when a non-zero probability event will occur, making the universe non-deterministic.
The second is this. Listen well, young padawans, and comprehend. There is no way anyone could have predicted it. -
Something else I've noticed since the merger too. Avatea now talks to us even LESS than before (if that's even possible).
Seriously, take a look at the community digest. There's been no mod posts of ANY kind in the EU lounge for weeks and weeks... Nada.. Hardly any in the general discussion channel either...
