Quote:LoLPvP!A long time ago, I would PvP a lot in Warburg and Recluse's Victory; something which I hope people remember the good things (being good) and not the bad things (getting angry at losing/other people). The following is either an exact retelling of that memory or the story shifting so dramatically that it sounds amazing when it actually wasn't.
SOMEone had too!! -
Sidestepping the rather pointless blocking/console argument... If anyone wants to give CO a try with full access, give places like Amazon a look. I just picked up a box copy for £1.80 including postage and tax. That's 30 days game time for pennies.
-
Quote:If "discussions" are going somewhere, that might not happen.Meanwhile, the dev team atrophies and goes to find other work, and the AMA will eliminate any suspense and surprise from future content that may be developed if/when the game is saved.
On the contrary. I think it'll bring us closer together as a group; not counting the few jerks that are around. -
Quote:In the EU at least, no contract can take away statutory rights under any circumstance.Guys, the EULA you agreed to when adding paragon points or setting up a game subscription clearly states that there are no cash refunds.
It sucks, but legally, I don't think you'd have a leg to stand on with NCSoft.
Disclaimer: IANAL, I just read EULAs compulsively. -
All three of them are awesome, but Miss Lackey's offer is mind slappingly fantastic!! NCSoft would be biblically stupid to ignore that!
-
In the EU at least, I don't think they can legally refuse to refund you.
-
I don't think I would. Although I love CoH, its community is what makes it such a good game and why I'm still here after 7.5 years.
-
I reinstalled CO yesterday and tried to log in to my old old account, but it seems all is not well with the accounts system.
Tried to link it to an equally old old Perfect World account, and now it just refuses to accept my password, even after resetting it.
Still waiting on their support folks to reply to me. I might have a loooooong wait. -
Quote:Dark_Respite can probably help you loads, there.Ha! Thanks to Arcana starting the thread for Figure Printing, I already had some demo's started for some of my characters. I'll grab those files over the weekend and post them here.
Now, does anyone have a good tutorial for editing demos? I've already figured out how to replace emotes in them... -
Assuming we DO finally go dark on Nov 30th, how would people like to go out?
If it's possible, it would be great if the Zwill could get the server guy to turn on a final mass Rikti invasion, and spawn motherships over every zone, then pull the plug right when the load is as its highest... Just like the end of CoHBeta! I think that would be the BEST way for us to go out! -

1. Can you publish the entire lore bible you apparently had for Kheldians, pretty please?
2. Why did Kheldians never get power customisation; was it ever going to be on the cards? -
So, say one of the efforts going on managed to save the game in some form or other, but some changes were needed to increase revenue... How much would you actually pay per month to keep the game alive?
Myself, I'd go up to double the current monthly sub. -
Quote:Believe what you want. Cryptic themselves have stated, numerous times, that's it's a wholly new engine.... you talking the graphic shaders. You don't even need a new engine to add shaders.
The server/client code for Champions, STO and CoH is the same at the core, with many evolutions on each paths after the forks.
But shading, thats just a small text file you pass to the engine along with the material so OpenGL knows how to draw the object on screen. -
-
STO uses the same engine as Champions. Only CoH uses the CoH game engine. Cryptics other games all use the new engine they wrote for CO.

Quote:Two words.Really? Because when I met Katie at the Player Summit, she sure didn't seem like a bean counter to me. When she was singing karaoke with us, weirdly enough, I didn't see any knives being surreptitiously plunged into any rib cages.
Brighton office.
NCSoft used to have a mid-sized office in the UK, in the coast town of Brighton. The staff there were GREAT! They really pushed the game as hard as they could, they ran great player events, organised meet ups (several of which I went to), they ran regular competitions on the forums, and they TALKED to us.
Then one day, they went in to the office and were greeted with something similar to what Paragon Studios faced on Friday morning. Most of them were fired (not on the spot, due to UK employment law, but as fast as they could manage).
Avatea used to be one of our community reps; she was lucky, she was able to relocate to the US and work with the Paragon Studio's people for a while, but for the rest? Unemployment.
They did similar things to Auto Assault, Tabula Rasa, Exsteel and several other of their MMO's. They have a LOT of previous to condemn them, so please, stop talking like the sun shines out of their seating areas. They're a business, period, and a very ruthless one at that. The instant they see one of their properties as a liability, they execute it on the spot and to hell with the players and the employees. -
Quote:NCSoft are nothing but a bunch of bean counters. They provided the cash to run the game, but they're just enablers. The ones who ACTUALLY did all you say, are the dev team. Starting with Cryptic and ending with Paragon Studios. THEY are the ones who deserve respect. More so now because although we got knifed in the back, THEY got shot in the face. But all of that speculation aside, one thing I'm certain of is that they are a very intelligent company, and people should treat them with the respect they deserve. Even if November is the end of the line, I could never repay them for the eight and half years of fun they've made possible, the friends I've made, the skills I've learned, and the imagination they've fostered.

Sorry Tony, but I disagree.
Sure, NCSoft have done a lot for us; but last Friday, our good buddy snuck up behind us, and stabbed us in the back. -

Quote:If PW bought it, the first thing they'd do is double all the market prices... At a minimum.Sigh.
I was afraid of that. 8-(
I suppose there is a chance that Perfect World might consider picking COH up, but from what I hear it's not too likely as they already have CO. Plus side is you'd pick up a bunch of people who aren't going to play CO and don't have to pay to license your own engine. Downside would be having two fingers in the same pie for what I gather is a smallish publisher ... -
Wonder if any of the devs could pipe in with "suggestions" on making this process simpler?
