Difficult to godmod something when there IS no canon.

Maybe you are unaware that you are doing it, but god moding doesn't just mean typing

    /e shoots $target. $target dies.
And you still completely miss the entire point of that story, despite having it explained. It was absolutely no different whatsoever to the myriad of other Orob missions in the game, and the thousands of AE missions available. Your failure to understand the intent isn't any fault of mine.

I'm pretty certain that the Well being the single source of power only applies to Earth and heroes from there, in any of its realities. What about those who aren't from Earth at all? Plenty of those around, there's even some canonicly, too.

And as has been said time and time again. Just because a person is using the Incarnate system OOCly, doesn't mean they have to use it ICly in any way, shape or form if they don't want to. Hell, they might just be using the game mechanic to make their chars as strong as they've always been RP'd as.

I really don't see why certain people are having such a major spaz over what some other people want to do with their chars.

  4. Ammon, quit telling people how they play their characters. If you don't like how they're interpreting Incarnate, DON'T RP WITH THEM.

It's none of your business how people do things, so take your unwelcome god modding elsewhere.
  5. It's become quite common since the server move to the US. It's likely down to your ISP's routing table sending you down a poor route to the servers
  6. It's the new shiney. Everytime there's a new issue, people want to use the new shiney in RP. It's only natural, really.

They don't, mate. Just ignore anyone telling you they have to be; they're not worth listening to. Only you get to decide how it works for your chars.

Now lets assume I get a character to unlock said Alpha slot (Very unlikly given my play style), what if I don't want said character to be anything like an Incarnate? And whenver I RP with said character they're within teh powerlevel they've always been defined as being and as such are not incarnate level powerful? Do I OOC have to accept that "No wait actually because I went and OOC did this, and never refer to being like that IC I still have to accept that like it or not that my character is an Incarnate?"
Dude, your characters are whatever YOU want them to be. Do the Incarnate arcs, or not. Use them ICly, or not. It's all good as long as you're having fun.

This. No matter what other people say, unless you're paying other people's subs, you get zero say in how they want to interpret Incarnates on their characters.

As long as people don't use the canon and then completely break what the devs have given us, I don't care HOW people do it. Just as long as everyone's having fun. Well, except people who don't like that. They can go boil their heads.

Honestly mate? That's totally NOT how she comes across when you play her. There've been plenty of times where she's made claims of being able to take pretty much anyone.

Then there's her Wolverine level regen, making her able to regenerate from pretty much ANY injury anyone cares to mention, right down to decapitation.

Not that there's a problem with ANY of that. There isn't, none whatsoever. Just pointing out that you DO do the same as everyone else.

No offence, but this was blatantly obvious before the servers were moved, and I really don't see what the problem is. It shouldn't be any more difficult than just updating the script to use the new server address and would take any competent developer no more than 10 minutes to fix and test! (Yes, I'm in the position to judge that; I'm a developer.)
  12. My needs are modest, my requests few. All I want for Christmas this year, Santa, is:

A Kheldian Sash to wrap around my waist.
The Kheldian eyeglow as an aura, so that I can better look like the NPCs do when not using their powers.

    Simple, modest, obvious!

Sorry Omy, but you really should have expected it. Whenever a new issue add a new mechanic to the game, people will use it in their RP and why shouldn't they? They ARE becoming more powerful, after all.

I could happily have Gunwitch develop ultimate cosmic gadget powers by coming to understand a magical ritual or artefact. The Origins are just lenses we view the Well through.
Now that i19 is in open beta, we can talk about how its implemented, story wise.

Basically, there are two types of incarnate. There are those who gain all the Well's power in one go, such as Statesman and Recluse. These types are "owned" by the power though, and are subject to its control. They essentially lose a measure of their free will.

Then there's the type we end up getting. The slowly slowly catchee monkey type. We tap into the well over a long period of time, through use of the Shards. These unlock the potential within us and grant almost the same level of power, but it takes much much longer AND we retain our free will.

So we will not be as powerful as the NPC incarnates. The mission you run at the start of the arc merely shows you a possible future where you likely took the fast route rather than the one you get pushed down.

The weird one would be technology or science Incarnates. I suppose in that sense, you just don't play it as an actual Incarnation of whatever other being.

PS. I'm now stuck with an image of Ellie doing a Pokemon-style evolve at the statue. o.O
It was a bit more explosive than that, but kinda, yeah. She was about 8 foot tall, heavily muscled and covered in razor sharp armour plates. Others generally described her as "scary", and she gave Gunwitch nightmares! :O Her initial transformation, though, held way too much power that her body wasn't ready for, so she went kaboom!

Good job is jolly hard to kill a Peacebringer without a Q-gun! She reformed and now is building back up to it. She's already transformed for a second time, during a sparring match with a superstrong tanker (Starborn), and went toe to toe with her. Technically, you COULD say she actually beat her, as she forced Star to trigger full rage and unstoppable, and STILL went toe to toe with her! She was still raring to go when Star powered down, though I'm more inclined to call it a stalemate.

Right now though, she's learning to control it better. Work out exactly when and why the change happens when it does, and what her capabilities are in that form.

As for method, I think we can all probably come up with great ways of explaining it for our chars. Science and tech is easy enough. Experimentation or gadgets giving extra abilities! Mutants can continue to mutate, naturals (if Batman type), can learn new skills or become better at what they do. The choices are limited only by our imagination, really.
  16. There's no spirit or magical baloney in my main's become incarnate. Simply an evolution of her development which has been building for quite a few months and "broke out" a week or so ago as anyone at GG at the time would have noticed.

Yeah I got fed up with waiting, but as an RPer, I don't NEED to wait.

  18. I doubt there'll be many RPers who follow the given story arc... It's just too limiting for most folks, especially those who don't have magic based characters.

    You forgot one.

Personally, I think that you're just backpedalling on a dumb post, but if you truly WERE running some kind of social experiment, well that's probably the biggest jerk thing you could do and places you firmly on my ignore list.

Sorry, I don't read gibberish, and quite frankly I couldn't give a flying monkey's rectum about your political axe to grind. This is not the real world here, this is the Paragon verse; where superheroes are an everyday occurance and any attempt at such a thing would be stopped by one of them immediately.

Leave your RL politics where they belong, in RL.

Don't care. As above, we're not in the real world. We're in Paragon City, in the USA. We play by rules set down by the game devs, and where no guidance is given, we work to AMERICAN law.

Well... In the evenings, i'm usually on my main level 50, in Galaxy City, roleplaying. How many level 50's do you know that are looking for an SG? I get a surprisingly large number of invites from people... And most have plenty of Vet badges, so really should know better!
  22. I deal with such things simply. If I'm on a char that's already in an SG, the person sending the tell just gets put on ignore with no reply at all. If they can't be bothered to check if I'm in an SG, I can't be bothered to reply.

If I'm on a free char, my response will depend on my mood, but it's usually just a simple "No thanks".

Sorry OP. You WERE being rude. You should have just dropped it when it was clear he wasn't interested.

That's because the commandline line, for the EU, should be.

    Code:
    /Applications/City\ of\ Heroes.app/Contents/MacOS/cider -- cityofheroes.exe -project eucoh

I had this problem for most of yesterday, and it was a routing issue for me. Sorted "itself" out by the evening. On the PC, you can run the main game EXE itself to bypass this, but that's probably not gonna work on OSX.
