Some are good folks, some less so. However, I have a well publisised hate of vampires OOCly, so the further ANYTHING vampire like is away from me, the better!

    That goes treble for elves!!

Really, I'm a Virtue player myself and I don't see that many vampires. Of those I have spotted even fewer allude to that particular franchise that must not be named. Of course, I tend to spend my time smashing bad guys in the face rather than roleplaying.

There's hundreds of the things on Union. Luckily, most of them hang out in Pocket D so they're reasonably easy to avoid.

That's not evil. It's merely a malfunctioning machine that needs to be scrapped.

As for "going there", why not? He's ragging on someone for poor grammar, then uses nonesense PC "words" that aren't even real.

It's usually considered "bad form" to correct someone's BIO. Not everyone is as skilled with the English language as you may be.

Except... Well, I'm now going to point that one should not throw stones when one lives in a glass house, hence the highlighted words from your last paragraph.

If you're going to dictate English usage to someone, then you should use it correctly yourself.

There's a world of difference between a troll or griefer and someone who's not great at roleplaying but actually tries. Surely it's better to give them the benefit of the doubt; especially when chat is flying past at high speed, it's easy to miss the context of a remark or misinterpret its meaning.
Oh no... These are people who HAVE been given the benefit of the doubt, often many many times. They are generally the "n00b" of roleplaying and are beyond any kind help. Frequently, they're actually nothing but griefers who attempt to hide their true intentions under a veneer of "learning to RP".

    A New Sidekick

I has seen pics (Not Pix!) and he's an adorable little boy. Most newborns are like "Dayum!", but Baby Shad is clearly a "D'aaaawwww".

All I can say is, lock up your daughters, people!

Said it already in person, but now for public record, Mucho congratulations Pix and Shadowe!

    Ahem!

So, the last few nights, the GG meets have been taking place in the Ski Chalet, as is our wont at this time of year, and once again, I've been reminded why I don't generally RP in Pocket D.

This hasn't anything to do with the regular's there that do. At least, I'm pretty sure it doesn't anyway! But really, What the hell is it with some people and the just downright "NOOOOOOoooooooooo!!!" that goes on in there sometimes?

First, the people we "lovingly" call tools. These people don't RP, they think RP is silly, and they decide that because it's silly, they're going to go annoy people doing it. Either by standing right in your face, or spamming powers or just generally being disruptive. Ugh!! WHY do they do it? (Yeah, I know. Internet+Anonymity=Jerk). Please, if any of those are reading this, please leave us alone? We don't mess with your fun, why mess with ours?

Then there's the "casual-bad" RPers. People who try it out from time to time, but really have little clue. These are the people who will say or do completely outrageous things that usually just make people ignore them instantly. Last night there was a good example of this. Some one (I will not mention names!) said "I once ate some people", seemingly totally out the blue... WHAT!?!?!? Hellooooo ignore list!

Next comes the "casual-good" RPers. Again, people who try it out from time to time, and usually do OK and have interesting characters I'd like to know for more than a week. Please guys, don't go away once the season ends! We like you and want you to stay. I promise to only bite if you ask nicely.

And then, finally, there's the people I lovingly call the "groupies". I'm a groupie. I tend to RP with a group of characters and don't often interact with others. These guys are great. They love their RP, they're in to it, they don't want to cause problems with other RPers nearby. Everyone wants fun. Super. Smashing. Great. So what's wrong with them?

Size, that's what's wrong. Last night there were a couple of reasonable sized groups, and we were all within local range of each other, and the chat speed was going bonkers! It was REALLY hard to keep track of conversations as you'd start to read a line, but before you finish it, it's whizzed off the screen because 8 other people said something too! Gah!

Sooo... Why am I posting this? No real reason I guess... I just wanted to have a bit of a mild steam, and the above are things I get a little steamed about at times. Is there a solution to any of them? Not really... Shooting idiots is generally frowned upon, and no one wants to quit the nice chalet so they can get out of others /local chat range...

Anyway... Minor rant over! So, what gets you guys steamed about RPing CoH?

Maybe he does? After all, it's well known that he dislikes "animal" costume pieces and doesn't intend to make any more. Judging by the complete lack of us getting any since he said that, I'd guess he got his way.
  13. The video is OK, well put together and all that, but honestly... Am I the only one who's rather underwhelmed by the winter event?

No decorations in the city, no change to the NPC flavour text, no NPC's bundled up against the cold and carrying gaily wrapped packages. Not even any frozen lakes which we KNOW exist as resources as they did it for the very first winter event. Absolutely NOTHING outside of the ski lodge to give the game that holiday feel. In fact, I'd go so far as to say the video is a little misleading as it seems to show more Christmassy stuff than you actually get.

Sorry Paragon Studios, but you missed again.

For some reason a lot of people have looked this particular gift horse in the mouth.

Yes, you can take new powers in place of the Fitness pool, but you'll have to find slots for any slotting you want to add to them beyond the default slot.
I can appreciate people's frustration there. More powers, but no extra slots does make things a little tight.

Still, try having a Kheldian... It's WAY worse, then...

And then have a complete paddy when we stereotype girls.
  16. I've found that in CoH, 99% of the "evil" characters I've come across just make me want a) put them on ignore and b) scream "get away from me you terrible roleplayer!" at them.

Really... Many people try and miss by a mile; ending up making a pshychotic sicko that REALLY makes me wonder about the players own state of mind.

As we keep saying... Irrelevant. You can do everything under the sun to maximise the CHANCE of getting a drop, but you can't do a damn thing to actually assure yourself increased drops because at the end of the day, random chance wins out.

You can kill 5.000 foes and not get a single purple drop. That's what random means ; but you're extremely unlikely to kill 50.000 foes solo and not get a single purple drop. That's what probabilities mean.
Speed and skill have bugger all to do with anything. If you're running +0/x8 that increases the odds of getting shards, but it's stil controlled by the RNG.

But then, I see you're in the same arrogant school as the op and think skill has anything at all to do with playing an MMO, so I'll just treat your posts as if you were the op.

Skill has nothing to do with shard drops. There's been several times where I've ran tip & contact missions for a few hours and received NO shards at all, and others where I've ran a single mission and received a couple.

It's random. That's what the R is for in RNG

The Carnival of Light issue will probably get explained in issue 20, when more Praetoria content arrives. However, in the meantime, we are left with story inconsistencies and to be honest, this one is just a little one compared to some of the others.

Hell, Issue 19 has introduced a completely massive story inconsistency all on its own. We're are war with Praetoria.. Kings Row and Steel Canyon have been heavily damaged, the Freedom Phalanx have fallen before the might of Emperor Cole and his forces.

OK... So, can anyone point me to anywhere in the game world where this has actually happened, outside of the new story arcs, that is.

This just smacks of either laziness, or more likely, a "Neuron" style to development where the new shiney always overrides fixing the stuff that the new shiney breaks.
