The thread's moved on a bit from your initial whingefest.
Quote:There is no mention of can you all please just turn off your powers while you are in the D. THANK YOU He ASKS that no one come and form a league in Pocket D period. He goes on to mention lag and people spamming powers but his original request is DON'T COME HERE!
Quote:Now first of all I was under the impression Pocket D suppressed most powers anyway. Secondly I have friends that are CAPE RADIO DJS so I have been there when there is actual GOOD music to tune into while you socialize. And then there is third..
Quote:I am currently running my Mastermind through the trials and I always rez my minons before we head in so I am ready for action when we arrive. Not so much an issue on the BAF since you get stuck watching the Cut scene before getting to even enter the door to the facility but on a Lambda you arrive on the steet and within a few yards you are engaged in battle. Are you telling me I shouldn't rez my pets because it adds to the lag? Then explain why its okay for an MM to rez them and then type in /petsay_all <em dance>. I can't prepare for combat but an MM that just wants to hang out and party can invite all his minons to share a beer with him/her? I don't think so.
Quote:Yeah I know people have a way of going crazy with auras... It drives me nuts too even when that start casting them to TRY and help as you get ready to enter a mission. "Gee that was nice but we are still recruiting members. That buff you just hit me with will probably just be wearing off as we hit the first mobs inside! brilliant planning!" Now on the other hand hitting me with buffs after we are ready to go so I arrive in zone ready to fight makes perfect sense and if we "BUFF UP" and then teleport to the Lambda Sector two minutes later how is that hurting anyone? Your role play experience was ruined by a two minute spike in lag?
Quote:The same day this individual made his "request" there were a couple of people RPing in one of the RWZs. I noticed the comments as I was leaving to head to another RWZ because out league, once again, couldn't all get into the one we started forming in. Now I have no clue if these two people were just RPing while they waited for their league to start up or of they were just hnaging out in the Rwz Role Playing. the point is no one went to a global channel and said.. "It may be crappy to ask, but we are having huge issues here in the RWZ trying to form league. In the future can you role players please stay out. Your taking up spots we need to get out people in."
Quote:This thread may go on for days and no one is ever going to admit they are right or wrong but let me just sum it all up for you Floating.. Until YOU or the joker that posted that comment in globals start paying my subsciption fees every month you have no right to tell me where I can do anything in game. 24 players showing up in Pocket D to form a league and then poofing off to the BAF is in no way a violation of the TOS and despite what you think is in no way grieving. So if you think any of you comments here are going to stop people form going there.. You are going to be a very disappointed man!
But sure. It's your buck, you can do what you like with it. Myself, I'll continue to consider the wishes of others and stop doing things that cause them problem when asked, even when its at the expense of my earning some iXP (which I have done). -
Quote:Someone else struggling with what emotes are for, then.No one any where in there was talking about power spamming or greifing or any of the sort it was about rpers wanting other people to leave "their" zone. It aint their zone and they have no right to ask me to leave simply cause .
-
Quote:Oh, I probably wouldn't petition immediately if people ignored a polite request to cut out the spamming... Not unless they got arsy..Then you would very much have a reason to complain and petition if they don't stop. I know I have petitioned some Thermal jerk at the BM when they kept spamming PBAoE heals and putting Shields on everyone. I never doubted that griefers do exist or claimed that you don't have a right to petition them. I'm just saying to universally ask everyone to turn off their toggles is somewhat unreasonable, especially when there are other plausible options available to you as I have mentioned above. That's all I'm saying.
-
Quote:B works fine, right up until the buggers follow you.
Let's also look at this from a probability point of view.
A. Asking 20-40 people on the dance floor to turn off their toggle powers.
B. Getting your group of folks to move 100 feet to an area away from the dance floor.
I personally think option B would win out every time.
And some of them DO. -
Quote:Actually, my PC can handle the burden fine. But I also RP with folks who's PC's can be prone to crash even during the average stress of a Rikti raid. So if we're not doing anything that needs the powers activated, I don't activate them; period.
I'm sorry but the self-centeredness in your posts are rearing its ugly head. Now I'm not saying my reasons for not wanting to turn off toggle powers aren't selfish but again, it's not my fault that your computer can't handle the graphical burden. For you to try to place that burden onto my shoulders is absurd.
As for buffing, I do THAT once I'm inside the mission. It's not like it takes long. -
Quote:I would say that anyone is free to run whatever powers or effects they like, right up until someone asks them nicely to stop as its causing them a problem. At that point, I would say that it's only decent and polite to accede to such a request and shut them off. It's easy enough, after all, to state OOCly that the effects continue even though they're not running. We do that sort of thing quite often on Union.Where is the line drawn?
I should limit that aspect because some few people may have lag?
If I am allowed to use those powers, due to the reasons outlined, who else is? Who isn't? Why?
Absolutely not looking to argue. I was honestly just curious for your opinions on those, considering your stance on this (with which I will not argue!).
Quote:If the no is not an acceptable answer... then it wasn't really a question.
Hell, during a BAF the other day, I was on the ambush team on my PB and someone said that the knockback was causing them problems. I immediately apologised and went off to beat on Siege instead, sacrificing my extra iXP so that I didn't inconvenience the team. -
-
^ Then respectfully, I suggest we agree to disagree.
-
^ If someone asks you nicely to stop causing them problems, and you refuse and carry on regardless, that's the moment you become a griefer; knowingly and intentionally causing other players problems by continuing your actions after being asked nicely to stop.
Your rights end at the tip of my nose. -
Quote:iI people are too caught up in THEIR wants to give a damn about other people, then the answer to THAT is simple too.So, what else are those with a problem meant to do, when polite requests to de-toggle problem powers are met by "Tough, suck it, lolRP!"?
/petition Griefer
And no, no smiley this time. -
Quote:I'd agree that telling them to get out, or even asking them to get out, wasn't the right thing to do. As people have rightly said, everyone pays their subs and have the right to be there if they want.I can't argue for or against that point because honestly I haven't experienced any such lag. But let's not forget that this whole thread started with one person suggesting that other people find somewhere else to go besides Pocket D - to relocate rather than just be mindful of powerspamming the server to death. There's a big difference there and I think any reasonable person could see how that request, regardless of its phrasing, was GOING to ruffle some feathers.
However, I do not see it unreasonable to ask people to turn off their toggles to cut down on the graphical lag it causes. Think about it. Get 2 or more BAF trials starting up, with everyone messing around and power spamming, and you'll end up with the same issues that are commonplace on Hami raids.
Hardly nice to the folks who just want to do their thing, is it? -
Why does THAT matter? All that matters is that they ARE suffering problems due to all the power spamming, and then getting ridiculed and told to shut up when they politely ask people to stop doing that.
-
Quote:Nobody is saying nobody else is allowed in to PD. People are just asking the games to cut out all the power spamming which lags the hell out of the zone and causes problems for those NOT doing the trials. In other words, you feel more entitled to be in Pocket D - especially more than someone not playing CoH the way *you* prefer to play it...regardless if they are a paying subscriber with no more or less right to be there than you. OK.
I guess expecting people to have an adult, live-and-let-live attitude in this game is just too much to hope for.
I don't think that's an unreasonable request. I *do* think it's unreasonable to say no, get pissy, and accuse people of people rude when the ones doing the power spamming are the rude ones.
But I guess expecting people to be adult, respectful and mindful of other people is too much to ask for. -
Quote:Using that logic, the Incarnate trials are Praetorian content, set in Praetoria, so why don't you start them in Praetoria? you have all the facilities there that you need. No, the RWZ is for people who want to run the RWZ missions, Vanguard TFs and Mothership Raids. It's popular as a launching pad for Incarnate Raids because it's easy to get to, has all required facilities and is co-op but that does not make it a "raid zone".

Quote:You're in a bar having a pleasant evening with good friends, when a drunk walks in.Suggesting someone should "go elsewhere" is rude, no matter how politely it is phrased. Period. Only someone with an extraordinary sense of entitlement would think otherwise.
The drunk is loud and obnoxious. Said drunk stands right in front of you, between you and your friends, and starts yelling, using the flash on his cameraphone, pees in your beer, and generally making it impossible to ignore him.
You move to another part of the bar but he follows you and does exactly the same.
You leave the bar and try one down the steet. Another drunk turns up in THAT bar, and does the same thing
Do you:
A) Ask the drunk nicely to leave you alone and go away?
B) Give up and go home, bringing your entire evening to an end?
C) Punch him in the face?
D) Speak to the bar staff and get the drunk thrown out?

Someone needs to read posts more carefully, and work out what smilies are for.

Quote:The world just ended... Satan's skating to work, pigs are being shot out of the sky and aliens have just kidnapped the royal family.I'd like them to implement actual power suppression in Pocket D, just like the quite rooms in AE buildings.
I agree with you. -
Quote:The simple answer there is: "You're on the designated RP server, in a designated RP area. Go away."Either deal with the fact that other people play this game - not always in a way that you care to participate in - or find somewhere else to go and/or something else to do. This applies to RPers and non-RPers alike.
-
Quote:Fortunately, we don't usually see a lot of that. Normally, when we do, it tends to come from the kind of people who enjoy griefing RPers when we're quietly minding our own business. But yeah, a bit of common courtesy, and not telling people they are 'playing the game wrong!' would go a long way.
You know, the sort we tend to get in the chalet over Christmas time... -

Quote:You know you can change the colour of chat text, right?I wish I could turn the colours off. What baffles me is the choice of colour for League chat. Instead of using a hue similar to Team chat, such as a Darker Green, they went with a confusing hue that is very similiar to Supergroup Chat. The hue is so difficult to differentiate from chat noise that I have had to make an exception in my screen layout and waste space just for a separate league chat tab. It's an eyesore.
-
My only REAL problem with the multi-group content for the Incarnate stuff (apart from the WoWism of it all), is that really, TWO trials? That you have to repeat again and again and again to get your shineys?
It makes absolutely NO sense, story wise, whatsoever, to repeat the same mission again and again, ad nauseum. It's the continual ignoring of making the game story make any sense that grinds my gears more than anything else.
They need to either give us way more trials to run for our incarnate progression, or they need to expand the areas where incarnate rewards are granted (ie, ALL level 50 content should give drops for all types of incarnate slots.)
Oh, and as for the "IT'S WAR!" comments earlier. Until we actually SEE this "war" in the general zones, I can't consider it as actually happening in Primal Earth. Kings and Steel aren't heavily damaged from Praetorian invaders, so those missions must be on some other Earth that we're helping out. -
Quote:Some of that happens on Union's PD, but nothing like you describe. It's generally just folks enjoying some downtime after a hard day fighting crime.Definitely not how it is on Virtue, for the most part. Anytime I go there I find ERP, drama llamas, ridiculous RP that'd be better suited in another setting, or gods standing around comparing e-peens with other gods. Not often I find folks just hanging out and doing typical bar stuff.
Once the server lists merge, come check Union out.
As for the topic at hand, this sort of thing happens all the time. The devs introduce an area ideal for RP, such as Pocket D, then they fill it full of actual game content. Us RPers can never have anything nice for long.
