Sooo.. Ummm...
Can someone tell me why the female "barbarian" outfit just looks like a kinky santa suit?
Seriously, devs... If you guys really want to know what your standard female barbarian look is meant to be like, just google "Red Sonja"... -

Interesting idea. Personally, I prefer the ePub format for my mobile devices, but mobi is fine; I can import easily enough.

Quote:This sort of thing gets enormously on my nerves as well. If you're going to write about something, have the decency to know at least SOME thing about what you're writing about! As a side-effect of all this research, I've become far less tolerant of lousy research in stories and almost intolerant of not bothering at all. With the Internet out there, there's no real excuse for not doing a bit of research to get your facts straight. (One character annoyed most of GG by being based on a premise about in-game lore which was (1) entirely wrong and (2) easily discovered as wrong with 5 minutes work.) Subverting facts and lore is one thing, just straight ignoring it or not bothering to find out... I'd rather read something done by an author who cares enough to put the effort in.
You wouldn't write a Dr Who story without knowing how to portray the Dr's personality (well, a decent writer wouldn't), nor should you write stories for an American character if you're going to use English terms for things (flat/apartment, trousers/pants, that sort of thing). It's irritating and distracts from the story. -
Quote:I've seen 2 dots on Union EVERY single night since incanate content was released, and it was NEVER like that before. Is it just me or does Union seem like a ghost town? I just got back from a break to find out that they (finally) merged the servers and that Union seems abandoned. I haven't popped into blueside to see how things are yet, but where's everyone gone? Has everyone moved onto the greener pastures of the Yankie servers?
So no, it's not empty. It's busier than it ever used to be. -
Quote:Ah, you didn't specify which, and as the first wasn't technically an in-game event, I presumed you meant the second.I will check into that but since I'm interested in the first day of the original invasion, I don't think that would be helpful for my purposes.
Sure, but it would have given you a guide as to who to see about contacting. -
The Second Rikti War was quite a big event on Union at least, and generated quite a lot of fiction on the boards. My own main, Tiger White, whas embroiled in a desperate battle in Gemini Park, trying to defend helpless civilians on her own. If you're interested, you can find the full story on the Virtueverse wiki here, or you can check the actual thread in the forums here.
If you look in the forums for around the same date, 24/07/2007, you'll find loads of fiction from lots of different folks, all covering what their characters were doing. -

If they charge VIP members for these new powersets... Members that are ALREADY paying a regular monthly sub and probably have been for years, I doubt they'll stay VIP members for long.
I know I sure as hell won't. Booster packs are enough, but paying extra for powerset when I'm already paying? Get stuffed! -
Quote:Yeah, we know, understand and even accept this. But like it? Not gonna happen! The loss of GG as a RP spot is a huge bummer and a sad day, but objectively how many people are affected, its such a tiny tiny %tage of the game population that the Devs are never going to look at other options.
I agree with you, but it's a damned shame that it is so. RPers are the people that will still playing the game even after the servers are turned off! We're THE most loyal bunch of customers a game like this will ever see and it really is a pity that, because we're a miniscule percentage of the overall population, that we get very little consideration. Especially now that they've moving over to hardcore gaming mode. -
Emotes, which mostly don't scale properly unless you accept default sizes. Costume parts which clip horribly. Booster packs with, again, costume parts which clip horribly (and we pay EXTRA for these), as well as usually either being gating to specific genders, or just being plain incomplete. Power customization was nice, but again, it's incomplete.
Seeing a trend here? Devs DO give us stuff from time to time; but it's rarely finished, and it's usually broken and hardly every gets fixed, even if its stuff we've paid extra for.
But we're getting wildly off topic now. Will RP change with Freedom? Not a lot. We'll get a few more a-holes bothering us, and those of us that are losing our long established RP location will have to move elsewhere; but otherwise, not a lot will change. -
Quote:You're entitled to your opinion. It's wrong, but you're entitled to it.Never claimed it to be such, but I did mean it as a counterpoint to FloatingFatMan's waving about of an incorrect absolute.
Hey, I don't like the gating of these emotes either, but I'm not going to stand by to such a ludicrous statement that started this discourse. -

^ Regarding the arena, they also took the extremely puzzling decision to make it impossible to use emote text...

Quote:Its not just GG though. Look at Pocket D. A zone seemingly designed just for roleplayers, and then the devs go and stick loads of PvE and PvP content in there. To play Devil's Advocate, in this case the changes to Galaxy affect one set of RPers on one server. With everything else they are doing, it can't be efficient for the Devs to actively look at making some sort of replacement. Especially as GG is basically (to an outside view) just a random spot on a zone map. Of course it sucks to lose a place with such a weight of history. But I don't think it can really be seen as an affront to RPers in general.
-
Yeah, we might have to pout or something.
Seriously though, Forse. Most of have known for many years now that if they have 2 equal options to do something in the game, one advantages RPers and one doesn't, they ALWAYS choose the one that doesn't. -
All the time. For RP plot, it never survives contact with other players so is guaranteed to go off course. For fiction, I usually start with a vague idea and then just start typing. Stories frequently write themselves, I find.

I started getting this a week ago after upgrading from the 11.5's to the 11.6's. I rolled back almost right away as it was so bad, but it didn't help in the slightest, even though I hadn't had this issue previously!
Just rolled back to the 11.2's, and now everything is fine again.I'm staying on these buggers.

But one question.. WHY!? Fun, but why?! -
Quote:Blame the market segregation for that... Silly NCSoft.I've just been looking at what I can see of the way y'all interact on Union, and realizing that's what I was looking for six years ago when I started, and couldn't find. Wish I'd known about you lot then.
You could still RP Cende on Union if you wanted... Many of us treat the different servers as alternate dimensions, so it's quite workable. -
Of course it's OK!

CoH has never been a game about the endgame content, unlike most of the competition. CoH has ALWAYS been about alts. You get to 50, you roll another character, you get them to 50, you roll another.
Incarnates have changed the endgame paradigm somewhat, but the old game is still there, and you're not meant to be using your new shineys IN that content... Anyone that does, and then complains the game has become too easy, is an idiot.
People that aren't happy with the repetitious raiding, that's your own stupid fault. Stop running them dozens of times a day in an idiot effort to get all the new shineys NOW NOW NOW, and stop using those new shineys in a part of the game that was NEVER designed to be used with them in the first place.
You want the game to stop being easy? It's simple.
1. Disable incarnate slots
2. Remove IO's from your build and return to SO's.
3. Set your difficulty to +8
4. Cry when you get your backside kicked -
^ Oh, it's not always "nice".. We have some LOVELY arguments from time to time!
