Plus the fact that the majority of the moderating would eventually be done over in the US, do you think that all of the EU moderating team would be kept?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Given that we're not a moderating team and that moderation is only a partial element of our jobs, nothing would change in terms of staffing within the community team .

    [/ QUOTE ]

So... If you're not moderating the forums most of the time, what DO you guys do all day? I mean, the website isn't getting many updates lately, and we've not had any official events, other than a few exhibitions, in aaaages (and doesn't Rockjaw sort them out?)... So what else do you lot do all day?

EDIT: Forum is already hosted at USA, so data is already available and the law is broken.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No it isn't. The forum may be hosted in the US, this is true; but NCSoft US are not able to access the EU accounts database. Hell, half the UK government websites are hosted in the US. Geographical location of the data itself is irrelevant. Who can access it, is.
  6. This has been gone over many times before, and the reason they can't is down to the SAME reason we can't access the US servers, and vice versa. NCSoft EU and NCSoft US are two seperate companies and are not allowed to share financial data between the two due to UK and European data protection laws.

Accessing the forum requires an account check to see if your account is valid. They cannot do that.

EDIT: Also, this belongs in Suggestions. In fact, it should really be a frequent suggestion by now, as it comes up regularly!

As I mentioned above I can use TweakCOH already, the problem is due to the length of the demo I often have to wait for it to capture thousands and thousands of screenshots until it gets to the part I'm interested in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's been a while since I did any demo editing but could you not delete all the unwanted parts from the start of the demo file? (after backing it up of course)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ^ This.

On the rare times I've done demoediting, I usually either only start the demodump just before the action I want, or I set a text marker by saying something in local, or I look for the event I'm after, such as a specific mob spawn. No need to play the entire demo if I just want a bit at the end of a 2 hour dump.

Technically, he doesn't count as you can only encounter him during the task force. Besides, Issue 10 came out July 24th, 2007. I would say 1 month shy of a year qualifies as "Quite some time".

Well, for 2 issues anyway - U'Kon Gr'ai, the Rikti GM in RWZ, was added in I10

It also buggers up their 3 issues a year thing too!

  11. Depends what you mean by GM really...

Forum GM, like GhostRaptor, or the new boy, Palladium?
Support GM, like GM_Chuck and his buddies?
    In-Game GM, like Palladin?
  12. Check your game shortcut. Odds are, it's pointing to the US updater instead of the EU one. Make sure the target of the shortcut is the file name "Cohupdater.EU.exe". If it isn't, change it. If it tells you that file doesn't exist, browse to your game folder and rename the "cohupdater.exe" file in there.

    P2945.....?

That, my good sir, is what's known as a P-String!

Basically, all text in the game is identified by a P-String. This then is used as a lookup in the game PIGG files for the relevant language text. Sometimes, there's no actual text for the string, so you just see the P-string instead.

Very very VERY old error, but you should /bug it so they can correct it (yeah, right).
  14. Cya!

    Can I have your stuff?

There is as far as im aware no official word on weather or not off line or stand alone costume creator could be released for city of heroes people who state there is are assuming this based on the fact that there was a limited costume creator released in Korea (also i believe there was one given away at some of the conventions)but this same costume creator was not released out side of Korea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, going by what Bridger said to us when the Korean version first went live and this offline costume creator became known, there HAS been official word that they cannot release it in the US or Europe for, what he said at the time, were "legal reasons". That's all he said. We can discuss and argue until the cows come home, but Bridger told us the facts at the time. They cannot release it to use due to "legal reasons". Make of that what you will.

He also said that this designer was NOT, in fact, written especially for the Koreans, but it was in fact written specifically for taking to various exhibitions before the game was actually finished.

I still have it on my HD somewhere, but I can tell you now, it is hopelessly out of date. All the costumes in it predate issue 6 and it's really not worth bothering about anymore.
  16. The error should tell you in what driver the error is occuring. Odds are, it's one of the nvidia driver files.

    is this any good?!!!

my bro buikds these things i just play on it

    [/ QUOTE ]

So this coincided with the release of issue 12, May 20th to be precise? If so, the solution is likely the same one that has affected a fair number of people, your water detail settings have been set to high by the update. Click the Safe Mode checkbox on the launcher, that will set all video options to minimum and should allow you to get in to the game. Then increase them one by one, making sure you leave the Water setting to Disabled.
  18. Personally, I think it would be a better idea if we could save a costume to disc, and reload it on another slot when needed. That keeps the thing in a purely online, in-game context, but allows you to copy costume designs to other slots or even to other characters (obviously, body type would need to remain the same).

That, I think, is a far more workable idea that would remain within the rules of any legal agreements. Even more so if they encrypt the save file, though that wouldn't really be necessary.
  19. Hi Scarlet. It seems possible that you're suffering the same BSOD that a lot of nVidia owners are getting lately, especially with the last few batches of video drivers. The main cause of the problem seems to be to do with the old drivers not uninstalling correctly, and requires a manual driver removal to fix. I've posted the procedure elsewhere, but I'll repeat it below for you.

    1. Uninstall drivers. Do NOT install the new ones at this point.
    2. Reboot and start Windows in Safe Mode (Tap F8 after the computer starts to get the Windows boot menu)
    3. Open Explorer and search for *nv4*.* These are the nVidia driver files.
    4. Delete all files it finds.
    5. Reboot Windows back to normal mode
    6. Install the new drivers.

Hopefully, this will resolve your issue.

Incidentally, the automatic restart is a default setting in Windows when a Blue Screen occurs. You can stop this by turning the option off, which will enable you to actually see the error message, and confirm if it is the nvidia drivers crashing (most likely scenario). You can do this as below.

    1. Right click My Computer and choose Properties from the menu.
    2. Go to the Advanced tab and click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery
    3. Uncheck the "Automatically Restart" option. This will disable the automatic reboot, but you will have to power off to recover from the BSOD.

    I hope this helps.
  20. One should not that before installing new drivers, it's important to uninstall old ones first. It's quite common for old files to get left behind and cause conflicts. ATI have the decency to offer a driver cleaner for theirs, but nVidia don't appear to have one.

It's easy to uninsall them manually though. Try the steps below:

This will give you a completely clean system and hopefully resolve the problems you are having.

And thanks for your kind comments. I just want people to have the same gaming experience I get, which is trouble free, so I do my meagre best to help.

If you decided to move the game files from SSD to HD, there is no need to uninstall and reinstall, with the huge download that constitutes. Simple MOVE the game folder to the new driver, make a new shortcut to the "Cohupdater.EU.exe" file in the game folder, and run it. The game will ask you where to install. Just pick the folder above your CoH one and it will rebuild the registry entries and start, without the need to redownload.

eg. If you copy the folder to C:\Program Files, so that the full path reads C:\Program Files\City of Heroes then just point the installation path to C:\Program Files.

As for Stase having the same issue, I suspect she has something in her system that's similar to yours, perhaps the driver update procedure will help her too. It IS known to resolve blue screens in game in most cases.

Just out of curiosity, I tried booting the game with Safe Mode ticked and it exited ok without crashing. What exactly is Safe Mode? I didn't go all the way into the game in this mode as I could see that the video settings had clearly been reduced from my usual settings.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Safe mode merely resets the video settings to all minimum.
  22. You need to install the latest drivers for your card. The ones shipped with Vista only offer the most basic OpenGL functionality and are not suitable for gaming.
  23. Nah, it's not yet. They'll announce it before the do it, just thought I should give people a heads up as I totally missed that in the release notes.
  24. I was browsing the US forums, as I'm wont to do, when I came across this post from Ghost Falcon.

    [ QUOTE ]

Actually, the two free slots that were launched with the Character Slot service / Issue 12 *will* end at some point in the future.

If you have not claimed or assigned those slots to a server, then after the window closes, you won't get those two free slots.

This was noted in the Issue 12 Release Notes.

We have not yet announced when the window for claiming the two free character slots will end, but we will give advance notice prior to ending it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, for the 2 slots granted with i12 (not the Veteran ones), you should use them before they close the window. What we don't know yet, is how long that window will be open for, or whether the system uses the free slots before the veteran or purchased ones.
