I can't check the version numbers right now as I'm at work, but for the other problem, when does it crash exactly? On loading? On clicking one of the buttons? (Next or Agree). It's possible a video setting might be causing that, so click the Safe Mode checkbox.

Well, it'd require some co-operation; from some more than others. Sent you a PM, but had a board error so don't know if it arrived or not. Can you check?

The CohUpdater.EU.exe file is only a few hundred kilobytes, not 2.6gig. If the game is already downloaded but not installed correctly, it WILL, on first run, ask you where to install, but as long as you point it at the correct place, it won't download anything other than minor patches.

If the game is installed to C:\Program Files\City of Heroes, then you need to point the install location at C:\Program Files. This will locate the game files, created the needed registry entries, and check the file versions. If it's current, it will load; if it's not, it will update. In no case should it redownload.

Be aware, many people mistake the patching process to be the downloading process. Downloading is usually fast; patching CAN take a fair amount of time, depending on the speed of your PC and the number of patches to apply.

Well, CoH is known to have problems with SLi configurations; you'd be advised to disable the second card when playing it. It's had THAT problem for ages...

Had my second one last night, display drivers crashing again. Definitely looks like an nvidia problem.

The "Ask a Question" page IS the direct link to support. However, you can easily create a new support account as they're different from your PlayNC or game one. Try making a new support account and getting hold of them that way.

Personally, I think it's gone beyond the point were people should be giving MMOArt any kind of benefit of the doubt. He's failed to respond to customers who have paid a LOT of money up front for work, so has essentially defrauded them. IMO, customers of his need to consider contacting the authorities at this point.

The man is running a business, not a charity, and thus has certain legal obligations.

Just make sure your shortcut for starting the game is pointing to a file named "CohUpdater.EU.exe". If it's not, change the shortcut. If the file cannot be found, rename the "CohUpdater.exe" file or download the correct EU one listed in the sticky at the top of this forum.

You can rename the file as GG suggests, or you can click the link in the original post of this thread to download the correct client; it's a very small download.

And I'm not getting ANY crashes!

That's very unlikely to work. Most modern applications won't actually let you copy text from a password field these days; so you're likely just pasting in "***********" instead of what the password actually is.

Signature character powers always have some unique abilities; so don't expect to get that on player characters any time... ever.

I had a problem like this a couple of months ago.. A driver update was causing CoH to crash, so I dropped the game to safe mode so I could reset. Since then, I lost DoF and Bloom options, and setting shader quality above medium crashed the game totally (it worked fine on high before that). I removed the drivers and went back, but it didn't help.

After a LOT of fiddling, I finally got DoF and Bloom back, but not high shader detail... That just wouldn't go above Medium any more. After much swearing, I upgraded from my X800GTO to a HD2600XT and got full quality back, but 2 days later my CPU started to fail.

Still don't know exactly whether that caused the problems or not; but I ended up getting a new PC and rebuilding my old one into a new case for my son... Which then failed to POST when I turned it back on... No beeps, nothing... Fans run, power LED came on; but no POST...
