Quote:11am for Paragon is 5/6pm for UK/Europe. THAT is the end of the day so complaints are completely justified.I believe you misunderstood what I meant, TrueGentleman. As I said, I agree that people are perfectly justified in complaining about getting their points later than their renewal dates. (Though I do not see much point to it.) What was unjustified was complaining at 11am of October 12 that the points had not been awarded yet. That is just impatience.

My points also have turned up, however also no reward token and my vet reward date IS my billing date, so I should have gotten that as of the 9th as that was the end of my previous billing cycle.
-
UK's distance selling regulations apply to all online transactions, even when outside the country. UK laws have precedence as the transaction takes place in the UK, no matter where the sellers are located.

Quote:Exactly.Penny Arcade has a humorous insight into the power of the word "free":
Quote:Incidentally, it's the 11th, but the promised VIPer's "free" Paragon Points for those on the first third of the monthly billing cycle have not been received. Apparently this is because of yet another internal problem with the billing department, which is supposed to be fix ASAP.
At what point do these kinds of problems indicate a bigger one for Paragon? At what point are more than apologies needed?
I'll be honest here. I've run out of patience with Paragon Studios. Their continual mistakes fly in the face of ANY sensible company, it's almost as if they're trying their best to chase off customers. -
Quote:This is why I like fighting him on my PB. One good punch and he's in the lava anyway. It's not quite as easy as it used to be ... he finally realizes he has the Synapse Lighting Blast power & uses it as soon as it recharges if he can't reach you.
Also, it feels like they've tweaked his AI to not run willy-nilly into the lava quite as much any more ... but that may be just me.
Of course, that also means a Void Stalker spawns right next to him... -
Quote:Sorry Z, I know it's not you're fault but I REALLY am getting fed up with this kind of incompetence. Seriously, are you lot TRYING to chase loyal customers away?Apologies for the delay in responding to this. We've been waiting for confirmation on the exact situation.
Here the situation: The script to award your monthly stipend of Paragon Points on the 11th was scheduled to go up with a billing publish that was slated for Monday. Unfortunately, this publish did not happen on Monday. This means that the script will go up during a billing publish tomorrow, 10/12/2011.
I know many of you are eagerly anticipating your monthly stipend of points and very much so appreciate your patience.
My apologies for the delay.
-Z
My approval level of Paragon Studios used to be on 11/10. Right now, it's down to 2/10. Good going, there. -

My billing date was the 9th, no points awarded today, yet.
C'mon Paragon, sort it out. Some of us are wanting to get the StJ set. -

Quote:If it was the same guy, after 3 rabid generics like that, you can bet he ended up with a 3 day suspension.I saw three Doc Holidays get gen'd in one afternoon last week. Pretty sure it was the same player each time. Costume was identical but the character name and global name spelling changed each time to get around the ban.
Although WHY he got generic'd for a historical figure I have no idea! That's... Silly! -
EULA's have zero bearing on retail law.

Quote:The subscription packages CHANGED. What subscribers get now is a different package to what was available before Freedom. As they are included in the price of a subscription, they ARE paid for. Just because you don't compehend that, doesn't change reality. No, you're ASSUMING that you paid for them. Guess what, your subscription fee did not increase, so unless you're getting a receipt or an extra line on your CC bill saying you paid for them, then it's a free gift granted to you for extending your patronage.
And seeing that Paragon OWNS all the content you're paying to access Paragon saying it's free points holds a lot more weight than you saying it isn't, especially when you say they're breaking the law in your claim.
And I didn't say they're breaking the law, so quit making nonesense up in a pathetic attempt to back up your rather weak argument. I listed a FACT under UK law.
When you buy something, UNLESS they state up front that part of what you buy will be issued at some point AFTER payment, they are legally required to grant EVERYTHING you paid for a the time you paid for it.
Whether Paragon are actually complying with that law or not I really can't be bothered to check because, as I've already said several times, I'm not particularly bothered by the small delay (my payment date is the 9th), and I don't plan to ever buy anything from the store that isn't covered by the points I already pay for as part of my monthly subscription fee. I'm merely adding my 2p's worth to the debate. -
Quote:You need to work on your reading skills. not once have I claimed any entitlement whatsoever. And I will say again. You didn't buy those points, they were free.
http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/freedom/about-freedom/
Right there, on that chart, first line below Account Features it says Free Paragon Points. You don't get the option to say "I don't want them" and get a discount. So guess what, that law has no bearing to this situation. There's no mention that guarantees the Free points will be delivered exactly when your billing date rolls around.
Now they're aware of the issue and trying to fix it. Stop trying to claim your entitled to some extra reward because a freebie wasn't delivered exactly when you want it.
And no, they're not free, no matter how much Paragon say they are. They are part of the package you PAY for as part of a VIP subscription. If they were free, you'd get them as a Preem or Freem, too. -
Quote:Actually, when it comes to player characters, the devs always err on the side of caution and generic you. If you don't believe me, ask the character that once went by the name of Persil, a popular brand of washing powder in Europe that has zero connection to superheroes in anyway and is ACTUALLY French for Parsley. The name does NOT count.
Names like Deadpool, Batman, or Superman would count, because they are names that are formed by combining words not normally found together.
A name like Inferno, or Ricochet doesn't fall into the same category, because they are simply words.
If you create a Ricochet that does not have the same look and backstory/powers as an existing character, there is nothing that can be done about it, because you cannot copyright or trademark a common word.
Example: http://marvel.com/universe/Ricochet_%28Johnny_Gallo%29
Now, there is a Praetorian character known as Ricochet. It is allowable because the characters share nothing other than the name, which is a common word (common word: found in the dictionary).
The DEVS can use names that trademarked characters share because they are in complete control of the use of that name, and can avoid any trademark violations. They don't allow US to use them because they can't control how we use the name, and trademark violations are sure to arise if we were allowed t use them. -
Quote:Generally, when one buys something, one usually gets what you've paid for at the time you pay for it, no?That actually is a good point but do you mean that as an annual subscriber should get all my 14 months' points in 2 weeks when the next payment goes?
Of course, if it's laid out clearly at the time you buy it, on the page where you pay, that it's spread out over a time period, then that's fair enough. If it DOESN'T, then UK law at least requires that you should receive all you paid for at the time you paid for it. -
Quote:Just a point I'd like to make, these things are NOT a stipend. A stipend is a form of salary and that's absolutely NOT what these are.So you're saying that the point was to gather all people's Stipends on the same day so that they can release new shop items ten days earlier? And they needed "nefarious schemes" to achieve this instead of simply appointing a game-wide stipend date because? Seriously, if Paragon Studios had said "Everyone will receive his or her monthly stipend on the 15th of every month." would that have been "evil," too? Because - surprise of surprised - that's precisely how my employer pays me my salary. That's exactly how my cable company requests I pay my bills.
They're a paid for item that we get as part of our month subscription, and as such, it should, by rights, be allocated on the day our subscription is paid.
Not that I'm anything other than mildly annoyed by the delay or anything, though I do roll my eyes at their lack of programming ability to issue the things when people pay their subs. -
Quote:The EU version launched on 4th Feb 2005, so even though he got his dates a little mixed up in his particular case, he WAS also partly correct.City of Heroes released on April 28, 2004 (A few sites incorrectly list it as April 27, 2004). It did not release on the 4th as you claim. My sub renews near the end of the month as it always has, not near the beginning of the month.
You may want to check your "facts" before posting things like that. It makes the rest of your post look suspect. -
Well, it's not a long delay so I'm not THAT bothered, but really Paragon... this is pretty simple stuff to code... Doesn't engender a lot of confidence, y'know?

Quote:I use "txt speech" a lot as well as spelling a lot of words wrong. The only exception when i take effort is when im helping a player out.
I'ld be on majority of your ignore list it'ld seePersonally i dont see why people think "oh he cant spell so i'll ignore him", not very nice now is it
Whatever happened to the nice nature of the world!
The only time I might ignore someone for doing that sort of thing is if they did it during roleplay, but even then I'd be more likely to treat them as a lunatic or someone with a speech impediment. -

The only thing that annoys me about poor spelling in chat, is spelling Nazi's.
Those people need to seriously get a life. -
Quote:The end of the Kheldians happened because Twilights Son BETRAYED them to save his own worthless tentacles.
Conjecture: If the Kheldian known as Twilight's Son is to be believed, in the far future the Coming Storm wiped out his entire race (using them as power sources for their ships), with himself being the last one. I don't know if this was in fact the Coming Storm that did this (the descriptions never name TS's "masters"), but seems reasonable, as Twilight's Son is an Ouroboros Mender, and the Menders show considerable wariness about the Coming Storm.
Personally, I hate this particular story line, mainly because my main is a PB.If she ever finds out what he did ICly, she's going to want to kill him!
