Cara yelled in anger as Red's taunts prodded her temper. Almost screaming with rage, she drew back and threw both swords at her.
"Ed was my friend!" she yelled. "How could he turn on me like that? How could he turn on ALL of us like that? -

It was right next to GG, so... probably.
Your group of friends may be nice, but the same can't be said for all RPers. Nor can you say anyone who uses acronyms or smilies in RP isn't an RPer.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've come across nasty people in RP, and I've come across idiots in RP. You get them in ALL groups. As a generalisation though; the majority do tend to be nice people who don't bother others.
As for the smilies, I don't know of any RPers who use them, and when we come across the rare one who does, it's often handled thusly.
Me: Hi, nice to meet you!
Them:
Hey there lol!
Me: Um... why did you just say 'colon close bracket lol semi-colon close bracket'? Are you alright? -

How about the RPers that grief other players that does not grief?
[/ QUOTE ]
To the best of my knowledge, RPers don't actually bother ANYone... Of course, I can only speak for myself and the friends and people I RP with.

One of my characters was threatened with non-consensual sex by a couple of RPers recently.

ICly or not, that's... Not nice!!! I do hope it wasn't any of the GGers!

Cara dived towards red and a sword of flame forming in her left hand, another of ice forming in her right. She faltered a little as Red's siphoning abilities hit her, but her rage sent a surge of power (build up) through her ice veins. Screaming wordlessly, she flew at full speed towards Red; a burning missile of steel hard ice.
-
Cara swore as her shot missed, and floated up into the air as she maneuvered for a better position. As she moved, more ice engulfed the flames on the transport; snuffing them out.
Raising her left hand, a sheet of ice streaked across the ground underneath Red, making the ground slippery. A second later, she raised both hands above her head, and s rain of fire began to fall from the sky on to Red, just as she was preparing to fire the neutron bomb. -

RPer snobbery! Outstanding.
"Oh no, those arn't *our* sort of roleplayers. We keep the riff raff out..."
[/ QUOTE ]
Well... Yeah!
EDIT: But being serious.. What I was meaning was, the guy going "LOL", wasn't an RPer, he was someone taking the wee wee. The other one WAS the RPer.
-
Cara neatly sidestepped the bolt of radiation and raised her arms into firing position, taking careful aim at Red as she fled. Flames licked around her hands as the power built up, and suddenly a beam of white hot flame erupted from young girls hands, moving far faster than Red's fleeing body.
-
Don't go judging RPers by what you see in Pocket D. For a start, RPers will NEVER "LOL" or use smilies when it's an IC conversation...
-
Well... Thanks for verifying that for me TG! It's a relief to know it's the drivers and not my card, and bit annoying that I'll have to do without PhysX support for a while longer.
I do hope it's something they fix soon, because those drivers are WHQL candidates!
-
Cara nodded and took a step forward, her gaze locking on Wild Red and the cop she was still holding captive. As much as her anger was fueling her powers, her training still held and she sized the woman up carefully, judging the danger to her hostage should she act carelessly.
Ice crept across the ground towards Red; spreading out in an increasing circle from Cara as the temperature around her continued to drop. Abruptly, she raised her hand, and ice erupted around the womans captive, sealing him inside a block of the unnaturally cold ice and forcing her to either let go, or be frozen with him.
Cara's voice was cold as she spoke, and her breath condensed in the frigid air around her, forming clouds of steam. "You're NEVER going to warm again, Red. Do you know that? Never. I'm going to take your temperature down so low, that even a thousand years in hell wouldn't warm you up." -

Being yelled at for standing still whilereading mission description is not excactly "good manners".

There are dips in every part of the game. I certainly would be surprised if you got that without giving them a reason to. -

I wouldn't necessarily go as far as to say it's griefing, per se... But it IS somewhat annoying, and just shows a total lack of respect for others, and an absence of manners.
-
I think it all comes down to basic manners. There's just no way I would drop manners I have in RL just because I'm in a game; I just can't understand why anyone would ever do that. It tends to make me of the opinion that they're very likely like that in real life too (which is something else I don't get).

If it wasn't for the fact that using a computer requires at least a little intelligence, I'd think there were a load of chavs playing...

Am using Ultimate x64 but because of the nvlddmkm driver issue, I'm leaving my drivers at 169.25.
Don't fix what isn't broken
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but I want to get the PhysX stuff working for other games, so I HAVE to update the drivers if I want that... Hence I'm asking if anyone with Vista x64 Ultimate has tried these drivers with success!
-
You'll need to try a mayhem or safeguard mission (preferably mayhem), as those are the main places where the PhysX engine is used. There should be a LOT more debris from destroyed objects.

Cara yelled out just as Ed vanished down the manhole.
"What about in the eyes of God, Ed? Was everything you said, everything you did, a lie?! God's never going to forgive you for this!"
Angered almost beyond words, Cara's emotions flared up, and with it; her unique ability to transform her body. Her skin shifted and grew transparent as her body transformed into living ice, steel hard yet semi liquid. With the ice also came the fire, erupting around her slender body and transforming her into a flaming ice statue. The temperature around her fluctuated wildly, and ice spread out from her feet, freezing the spilled gasoline solid.
"I'LL FIND YOU, ED!" she screamed. -

So they're fine in XP? Hmmm....
[/ QUOTE ]
Fine in xp here with a gtx 280 but the phys x bit in CoH is still greyed out.
The nvidia physx maps for UT3 look alright though
[/ QUOTE ]
That'll be because it's AEGIA PhysX, not Nvidia PhysX. The PhysX engine in CoH will need to be updated for that option. Tried setting the particles to max settings though (the one that warns about needing a PPU)? -

Has anyone had any problems with these drivers under Vista x64 (or any other OS in fact)?
I tried them a couple of days ago, seeing as with the latest (leaked) PhysX drivers, the 8800 cards now support PhysX, but have found a problem that makes CoH unplayable.
DirectX games are fine, but CoH is totally messed up. From the loading screen onwards, the bottom right quadrant of the screen is shunted up to the top left quadrant. I can't see the login box, and when I try logging in anyway, I can tab to the password box, enter the password, and hit enter; but then it crashes.
Safe mode lets me see MOST of the screen, though it's shunted up by about an inch, and the mouse co-ordinates are off by about that much too.
It's definitely these drivers as when I revert back to the 175.19's, everything is fine again.
Has anyone else come across this? I've even tried the WHQL candidate version of these drivers, rather than the beta's, and the same happens. I'd REALLY like to try these as they enable PhysX! -
(( Cara's ice isn't natural; it's far colder than normal ice and as hard as steel. It doesn't last as long as natural ice away from her body, but it should last 5 minutes or so before melting as fast as it forms. Up to you if it gets noticed.
))
Cara glanced up at Ryan, then replied over her implanted cybercom. "Their guns are iced up, and I can freeze the gas; but I'll do what I'm told. I just HATE this!" -
Cara continued to walk slowly over to Ryan, her expression seething with anger and frustration. Arriving next to him, she mutters under her breath. "I can't believe we're letting them get away with this! You should have let me barbecue the lot of them, Ryan! Ed's gonna get away now!"
-
Cara looks down at the guns poking in to her chest, and lets herself be prodded down towards Ryan. As she walks, ice slowly begins to form inside the barrel of each weapon, unseen by the goons.
-
Burned Ice stared down the barrel of the gun pointing at her, then glanced briefly behind her. She looked back at the gunman, a scared expression on her face, and gulped.
Slowly, she raised her hands in surrender.
