A lot of the problems I noticed have been addressed: The insane leveling curve, the overly-zealous Debt mechanics, the lack Enhancements that don't decay with levels, the complete uselessness of Scrappers, and so forth. However, there are still big, huge problems that are keeping the average gamer away- the biggest being the entire Bridging/Doorsitting/PLing nonsense. Normal gamers won't play a game with those issues. But instead of fixing it, as it should have been fixed on Day One, the Devs ignore it.

[/ QUOTE ]Uh, have you played any other MMO, ever? Our "insane leveling curve" and "overly-zealous Debt mechanics" are a drop in the bucket compared to the grind and death penalty in most games, not to mention the fact that PLing and farming (or something with similar effect) will always happen, in any and every game, no matter what the developers do to try and prevent it.

Games are a time sink, MMOs doubly so.

    15 characters sure

but how many of those are alts?

[/ QUOTE ]Well we all know Positron's just a octopus multi-boxing, so that cuts out half of them right there.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
    Teleport could be "POOF".

[/ QUOTE ]No, it is going to be "vworp vworp".

    Looks great.

Do you think we could ever get the ability to save costumes? That would be the tops.

    [/ QUOTE ]

too tired/excited to read the whole thread to see if anyone else mentioned this yet, but...

check out the last screenshot in the announcement. see what it says there as the costume name? nothing from the list of presets.. nope. it says "custom".

    [/ QUOTE ]

As mentioned above, if you're not choosing one of the preset costumes, then you're making your own custom costume. Choosing 'custome' means, you move on to pick individual pieces. Nothing about that implies saving the costume except for when you finish the character creation process and enter the game with it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Correct.

[/ QUOTE ]The head shape is the same way - you can choose things like skinny, square, etc., but if you open the sliders and change things, it becomes "Custom"

Yes, our dear City of X has been summed up as "playing Barbie dressup".

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It wasn't before? O.o

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, I have explained this game to people as "Barbie Dressup with super powers".

What does the Real Numbers windoid show for minions and pets, out of curiousity?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It shows what powers they have. If you click one of the powers in their list, it expands to show all of its detailed information too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Folllow up question.

Does it show in Tier 1 Thugs that even though defense debuffs are able to be slotted they have no defense debuffs in their attacks?

    Poison Pill

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought they had a burst type attack the did a bit of -def but i could be wrong, is that incorrect?

[/ QUOTE ]No, the tier 1 Thugs have ZERO defense debuffs.

  8. Am I a bad person if I voted the google and wikipedia pages as "yes it's a rickroll"? >.>

Edit: Worse if I add a tinyurl link to their DB that redirects back to their own site?

FINALLY!! A good use for those gaint lag-inducing screens in Grandville!

Ya know, April 1st is just around the corner, they should pop that up on those from time to time.

[/ QUOTE ]Those video screens aren't inducing much lag actually.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    The puppy has a point.

[/ QUOTE ]Hehe if they were playing AVIs, yea they would, but I believe they are either playing animated GIFs or another type of file, I can't remember exactly, but they are heavily edited down to like maybe a quarter of the actual frames the scenes are comprised of (from the actual CoV video to).

[/ QUOTE ]Single image which the game pulls rectangles out of per frame

    Essentially, a sprite animation sheet.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Or did you replace whatever file in the game .piggs that has Recluse's speech video with a the rickroll footage, so you actually see that on the screens in-game?

[/ QUOTE ]That would be against the EULA. The data directory is much safer
  12. Definitely the second best rickroll ever.
The best, of course, being awarded to xkcd

    * Inspiration Conversion: Right click an inspiration to convert three of that kind into any one inspiration of another kind.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am worried about what that means.. If it means Making say 3 Low level greens into a low level Wakie, for example.. Cool..

But if it means Making a 3 Low level greens (Or blues) for example into a Mid Level Green, that could create a broken situation of infinite Influence for absolutely no risk, and abuseable at level 1.

[/ QUOTE ]Posi(? could be wrong) already stated there's no up-tiering. It remains the same tier.

So what order to the INSP get cast? Hopefully the Awaken hits before the Break Free so you are up, full health, full END and ready to go....

Its going to be one of those big inspirations anyways, the big wakies dont stun you like the smaller ones do.

[/ QUOTE ]You get revived by the heal, no need for the wakie to be cast.

I calmly explained that DW did a thorough job of debunking that myth on the forums. To my dismay I had several people flatly state that it was a bug that they had PROVEN and knew it to be truth - completely disregarding DW's statement here.

[/ QUOTE ]If it happens again, suggest that they send a PM to The Dark Watcher with their proof in order to get the bug resolved

I'm confident his inbox won't overflow.
  16. Any chance we can get a "Dark Watcher reveals Vanguard Intelligence on Rikti Invasions!" link in the updater in the near future? I'm sure there are a lot of people crying DOOM about stealth powers that will never look at the forums otherwise.

    NO to above

    [/ QUOTE ]
Please clarify: If you are saying that we will not be able to access those costume pieces, I strenuously suggest you remove them from that promotional image or, preferably, make them available to players: Don't lie to us.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. You already have half the player base excited about this, and now we are being told, nope, cant have specific pieces that are shown. Thats not right. Dont tease the players with stuff we wont get. How about show us what we WILL have access to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think he meant "No, its not Statesman..." which was the original question.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    JLove's post is:

    "NO, to above"

Which is an unquoted response to Radmind's post of:

    [ QUOTE ]
So, wait...in the picture with the gladiator armors, is that Statesman in there?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That does look like the Statesman cape and Helmet. Do we get access to those???

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which makes JLove's response seem to be:

'No, you will not get access to those costume pieces shown in the promotional image.'

I state "seems". That would mean that the promotional image implies a lie. That is what I am asking to be made more clear.

Edit: I am asking for clarification because this would seem to be the first time that images promoting a new issue were inaccurate. I am assuming that all costume pieces are shown as they might be used on a player character, not an NPC, but JLove's post is unclear.

[/ QUOTE ]Seems to me he meant "No, it's not Statesman pieces"

Also: I guess we were wrong about Chimemora (or however that's spelled) *just* being the modified Ouroboros zone for the Wedding
  18. My jaw dropped as I was reading these additions
  19. I think some time in the near future I'll be making an update to this guide, including information about Base Defense revealed to us by the attribute monitor - base defense added to all defense types, and only affected by PFF and defense debuffs
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I'll admit up front that I haven't read the entire thread just a few of BaB's posts really.

I work in software development for a Graphics processing application. We develop a RIP (raster image processor) whose job is to process and print images. Involved in this is a color management layer. I have no real idea about how colors are calibrated on a game but I figured I'd toss this idea out in case it might trigger some chain of thinking on your part which might lead to an epiphany type moment.

In most CMS (color management system) implementations there is an option for "spot color replacement". What that does is it replaces a particular Spot color (and all it's tints) with another. Given this concept you would have to change the Power colors to be named spots rather than straight RGB. So rather than a color be defined as RGB 255,0,0 it would be something like [charname]_[powername]. Then as a costume component you could have a table outlining the color values for every power. EI: [charname]_[powername] = default,255,0,0

When a non default color value is found you go through the spot color replacement process when you paint that power. So everything that is colored by [charname]_[powername] gets replaced by the new color.

All this hinges on whether you have a CMS currently wired through the application at all.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't pretend to know exactly what you're talking about, but the concept sounds a lot like a vertex or pixel shader, which (I assume, without knowing their code and thought processes) would be the first place they went when thinking of how to implement power customization, or at least color changing.
