I'm sure this has been answered already within the 81 pages, but I'm too lazy to look so I'm hoping someone will answer. Will the architect provide the ability to re-create existing characters within the game? Such as if I wanted Statesman or Recluse to be in it, would I be able to do this?
[/ QUOTE ]- When creating custom enemies, you're limited to the player costume pieces, so you wouldn't be able to re-create signature characters with specialized costume parts
- You cannot edit existing characters
- You can add existing characters as either the contact, enemies, or allies, though some characters (and I imagine Statesman and Recluse would fall under this umbrella) need to be unlocked first. -

I'm definitely hoping for Architect access from within an SG base, but somehow, I think I'm wishing in vain....
[/ QUOTE ]
you never know, the fire and ice crystals gave access to flash back missions in the SG base with out having to go to Oroboros, I hope they do something similar with MA as well.
[/ QUOTE ]pohsyb said there won't be base access to MA, at least not at launch. -
[ QUOTE ]
Will there be a way to have something spawn from an object? For instance, the glowie is a body bag and when you click it, a zombie appears "from inside"? Or there's a destructible urn, and when you destroy it, a genie appears?
[/ QUOTE ]Not directly, but you could have an ambush spawn when you do it (and ambushes can be friendly), and it might be possible for the ambush to appear where the mission objective was. -
[ QUOTE ]
A question:
I believe I read that we can include destructible items to our missions, similar to a Mayhem Mission, but will these items be available ONLY on those maps or can we include them in other maps.
I.E. the great missing hero mission(s) where you go and bust into a villain layer and destroy everything to stop their nefarious plans.
[/ QUOTE ]I don't believe that was even insinuated. We can have "destroy X" mission objectives and "defend X from being destroyed" mission objectives, but not random destructible objects around the map. -

Is the March 24th date a solid confirm? I'm putting this on my calendar. If so, what was the source?
[/ QUOTE ]
March 24th is just conjecture. However, they're apparently shooting for a March release, according to the information released by all the gaming news sites. Anything earlier than March 24th seems unlikely, given that Issue 14's not in Open Beta yet. Unless something goes wrong between now and then, I think it's safe to assume that Issue 14 will be released either around the 24th but not later than Tuesday the 31st.
[/ QUOTE ]They can go up to April 14th, since that's the current release date of the Architect Edition, which is supposed to accompany the issue. I am not saying I14 won't drop before then, but they've got more than just March to aim for.
[/ QUOTE ]The April 14 "release date" is far from set in stone, and they've said that I14 will drop before Architect Edition is released in stores. -

Just a nitpick, CoH is the first to offer user created MISSIONS, however Pirates of the Burning Sea has allowed user created flags and sails and even ships since beta. In fact, a good 30% or more of the ships were created by players during the beta and are named as such.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, Ryzom was the first to do player created missions. CoH is not the first.
[/ QUOTE ]Missions? Or quests? -

Q: Can we take a 'Normal' critter, (Like say a Council human) and give him diffrent powers/attacks?
[/ QUOTE ]I believe pohsyb said we wouldn't have editing of existing critters, so "No". -
[ QUOTE ]
Posi,
We know now that EB's and AVs are allowed in the MA, But will Monsters be allowed too?
Like how Kronos Titan and others are allowed in certain missions?
[/ QUOTE ]Might not be the answer you want, but there's very little difference between Monster and AV. I believe Monsters have a bit more HP than an AV, but have no purple triangles. -

That Cap Dynamic acctualy would chase me away not suck me in...teeeeerrible commercial or what ever it is...makes the game feel like its for toddlers !
[/ QUOTE ]Considering Rooster Teeth's standard audience is the Red vs. Blue viewers, I think "this is a parody" is taken as given. And I think it's an amusing parody, too. -

just about the only thing I could think of would be if they had an investor who was willing to put $100mil into COX, on the condition that Arcana be held out of Beta for 1 week.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heck, I'd sit out voluntarily for fifty mil.
[/ QUOTE ]I'd voluntarily stay out of beta for dinner & a movie! >.> -

Mark my words, because I've been saying it for a long time. This is going to be a lot bigger than I think even folks here are giving it credit for. I really believe that the release of Issue 14 will be the most important date in City of Heroes history since its original launch, maybe even bigger. It's going to affect all facets of the game, whether or not you're a content creator or even set foot in the Mission Architect building.
[/ QUOTE ]Regardless of how much the community accepts MA, it's a huge step forward for the devs. Previously, they had to create missions using a strange Excel spreadsheet format. Now, they can do everything they could do before (except custom maps/scripts) using their MA interface. Much easier, and probably much faster, too. The devs can use this system to create canon missions in the future, and more efficiently than they do now. That means they can get more stuff done, like more added content per issue. -

The ideal solution would be some sort of personal mode: you can write an arc, play it yourself (maybe with a team), but it can't be seen by the general public.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, the Devs have already stated that this is already in, and called 'Test Mode' where the server loads/runs the file from your local PC; and only you (or you and your team at the time) will play it. HOWEVER, in this mode, no XP, Skeeball Tickets, nor any other kinds of rewards are given - that's why they call it 'Test Mode'.
[/ QUOTE ]Apparently, there are badges which can only be achieved in Test mode, though. -

Wait, I'm confused. Press-Event? Is NCSoft actually spending some cash on marketing the game now?
There's not a comet about to hit earth that I haven't heard about is there?
[/ QUOTE ]
There was actually. It was the size of Texas and missed us by about half the distance form here to the moon....
I don't think it's related though!
[/ QUOTE ]Don't worry, the Replicators got Apophis in Season 5. -

Your account will collect tickets when others play your arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Stoked, but curious. I cant think of anything off hand that works like this in the game. How/Where will a collective mass of tickets be accesible by any/all of my characters? (any server too?)
[/ QUOTE ]Read Positron's tickets clarification. When you play MArcs, the charater you're playing will earn tickets. When other people play your MArcs, tickets will be added to a global pool, which any of your characters can pull from. -

Rikti portals were originally designed to give exp when they were defeated. On review the devs decided the exp should come from defeating the Rikti who summons the portal, and not the portal itself primarily so you don't lose exp by doing what any sensible person would do -- drop that particular Rikti before he has a chance to open the portal. I don't remember exactly, but I think the total amount of experience awarded for the portal and summoner combined decreased, since the increase in the exp for the Rikti wasn't as much as had been awarded previously for the portal. I don't remember this being described as an exploit when they changed it, but I'm not particularly sensitive to the word, either, so I may have forgotten. I do remember a number of people posting that they liked it the way it was, and equally many saying the new approach made better sense.
[/ QUOTE ]Wasn't there also some kind of tactic about destroy the portal for the xp, let the Rikti summon another, destroy it, and so on, ad infinitum? And that was considered an exploit, and part of why it was changed?
(It was all before my time, so I'm going on what I've heard around here.)
[/ QUOTE ]The exploit was running out into the RWZ, aggroing a comm officer so they summon the portal, tag the portal with a single attack, run off, and get full portal xp when it despawned on its own. -

Will missions be marked for specific factions? Hero, Villain or Either?
[/ QUOTE ]Yes, you can flag the arc as one or another, but you can't prevent people of the other faction from playing it. -
Amazon claims April 14th, and I think some other place on the web claims some time in March.

200 merits is 5 Lady Greys and a Katie if that takes you 8-12 months you are to casual to have a forum account.
[/ QUOTE ]Me thinks yall dont know what casual actually is. Casual gamer wont have time to do a tf/sf/trial. You looking at 30 to 45 minutes at best for their time played a few days a week, now spread the play sessions across multiple alts. Now you see how this can end up taking months or years for IOs?
[/ QUOTE ]
And before merits those people who did not have time for a TF were only able to buy a Numina's with 50-80 million influence. Now they still can still pay 50-80 million influence OR they can get one every year through merits. Whats the problem?
Merits are better than the system they replaced. They are not perfect.
[/ QUOTE ]And on top of that, you can still go for random rolls for a tenth of the merit cost of one of those expensive top-dollar recipes. -

[ QUOTE ]
I didn't see this question answered (not sure if it was asked actually) but will trial accounts be able to rate missions/arcs?
[/ QUOTE ]Hopefully not, lest we get flooded with arcs full of RMT ads. (I had to have this pointed out to me, I must admit.)
[/ QUOTE ]Or worse, creating multiple trial accounts to rate up your own arc. In the worst case, creating 1000 trial accounts to give yourself Hall of Fame. -

I think just for giggles I'm going to make a mission/arc that has all the signature heroes and villains. In one mission. All together. In one group. With Malta and Vanguard as the grunts.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's exactly the kind of mission I sugested the test before publishing restriction for.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would want to play that mission normally...
[/ QUOTE ]
Have you ever attempted Lord Recluse SF, that's hard enough with only the 8 Signature heroes there, what you're talking about is crazy.
[/ QUOTE ]I don't think we've had any indication that we can put multiple AVs in the same spawn. Also, AVs should be downgrading to EBs just like normal arcs. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's just alphabetical order, and yes, it does appear to be every single item in the game, as I said in my other post, which is what I've always heard when people complain about how the market loads.
[/ QUOTE ]I believe the market defaults to "For Sale & Bidding", so the Huge List O' Everything won't include items that have no bidders or sellers. -

Is I14 just the MA? No other features or bug fixes included?

And you can't publish a mission that can't be "beaten". It might be hard, but the error checking makes sure that whatever you make is possible to complete.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not that I don't believe you, but once this goes to Open Beta, I intend to attack the MA with hammer, drill, and demon posessed rubber duckies until I prove you wrong. It's one of the aspects of MA that I've been planning to go after as soon as I can.
I figure it will take me one day, at most. By then, I'll have either broken it, or been distracted by some shiny new toy in the MA and be trying to break that instead.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it could be very easy to create a mission that players can't succeed in. Three AVs, one item the player has to protect in the middle of them, said item might be able to be set in terms of HP, have the AVs aggro on the item as soon as the player enters the map / gets within 'range' (preferably a long way away). Or a 'Prevent From Escaping' mission where you put the door near the mob that shouldn't be allowed to escape.
Can't be beaten and easy to fail are close equivalents.
[/ QUOTE ]I'm quite certain it will be possible to make a mission where you're guaranteed to fail. Making a mission that cannot be completed, on the other hand, is another matter entirely. -

So I am thinking that Issue 14 should be called: "Mission Architect" (a.k.a. Touch my Awesome Button)

Looking better all the time but I didn't see an answer on the statement below. (I could have missed it, lots of posts!)
At what level s the MA useable?
[ QUOTE ]
City of Heroes
Issue 14: Architect
snip......
At the high level we allow you to create your own stories and share them with others in the game.
snip.......
[/ QUOTE ]
(Yes, not everyone has a level 50. I played too many other games over the years!)
[/ QUOTE ]"High level" of the concept, not the character.
