I personally dont' understand the point of farming. Making a mission to do over and over and OVER again to get the rewards, seems like a really REALLY dull use of time. Maybe paragon studios can come out with Virtual Paint Drying. I know the regular missions can become a grind and I take break from playing for a while when they do, but intentional making a mission for the purpose of boring yourself to tears seems masochistic IMHO. Then again, I have found i mostly ignore AE. It may make teaming a little harder, but it means the teams I do get will not be filled with people that I don't enjoy the play style of.

    To each their own.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You want a point to farming, check this out . . . Make an AE mission, outside, very large. I used City 02. Add as many protect object objectives as you can. Use a custom group which only has one minion. Add an ambush for every protect object, and run it with an 8 man team on invincible. I advise you make that minion as easy as possible to kill also.

I'm working on a mission like that, and intend on publishing it. Just not sure how to make it allowable without C/R infringement. Can't call the minions zerg, was thinking maybe Blergs? Got the idea from the forums

Edit: no wait, make those minions all masterminds ... hehe

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really don't see how that gives farming a point.. in fact it seems to me to reinforce how pointless it is. I don't play that often, only a couple of hours a week. Why would I waste my time doing that?

[/ QUOTE ]In Folonius' defense, my Zergling map is a lot of fun

Almost enough fun that Virtual Slayer isn't a chore. Almost.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Zergling Swarm:
    1) Create a custom enemy group that only contains one minion type. The minion can be anything, it really doesn't matter.
    2) Set the mission map to something large and outdoor. City 02 works well, particularly with its spawn points.
    3) Max out the number of "Protect" objectives. It doesn't matter if they're required or not, since custom critters suck at killing protect objectives. This is about swarming the player, not causing instafail
    4) Make sure to max out the spawns around the objectives

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Looks like this was corrected!

[/ QUOTE ]Not on City 02. I played my test arc again today with it (using it to work on Virtual Slayer), and it was still working as it had been.

Amusingly, I noticed that sometimes the ambush will arrive and then not do anything. They won't even try to run out of my Arsonist's fire patches.

I count 7 intangability powers. 4 affect the foe and 3 affect the caster.

    Detention Shield
    Sonic Cage
    Black Hole (takes intangible)
    Dimension Shift (takes intangible)
    Phase Shift
    Quantum Flight
    Nebulous Form

[/ QUOTE ]Fair enough, I should have said "foe intangibility". The fact remains that only 2 accept intang enhancements, anyway.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Intangibility(and Cage powers, but that's a whole other issue)... Yes I know there are only 2 powers that use the effect, and I know people generally hate them, but why deny set bonuses to the few people who actually take (and possibly even use) those powers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Cage and foe intangibility are the same thing, so there's actually 4 powers that use that effect. I think people mostly slot them for recharge and perhaps accuracy, though. Most people probably couldn't tell you what intangibility enhancements even do. It would be incredibly low priority, and the sets would be pretty much ignored.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, there are 4 intangibility powers, but only 2 of them accept intangibility enhancements.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
If you let the people get a hold of the ability to give enemies NO powers, then you create no-risk rewards

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not that they haven't already since it's quite easy to create enemies that have no ranged attacks. Just give 2 melee sets to a custom critter (avoiding SS and others that have ranged attacks automatically) and get flight (whether via the power or a flight pack). Virtually no risk (they'll try to jump at you and can kill you that way, but that's more player error).

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, flying against melee-only critters is counterproductive, since they'll switch into "I'm being griefed" mode and run away.

You want to fight melee-only critters and use AoE immobs on them.
  6. Got mine at GameStop right as they were stocking the shelves

My copy never even touched a shelf
  7. Well...
Thrill Seeker is an exploration badge in the AE building
    Customizer takes seconds to get
    Writer is account-wide
Ticket Master is account-wide if you don't claim 5000 tickets. Otherwise it takes just an arc or two to get

So really the only barrier to the accolade is Escapist, which doesn't take that long to earn.
  8. I think only the Zig breakout map is constantly at night. All of the others obey the game's current time of day.
  9. I played one arc where the contact was a box with some comic books in it, and each comic book was a mission.

Looking through the console, it had received:

    35 Fives
    8 Fours
    4 Threes
    8 'unknown'

    [/ QUOTE ]

How does one go about 'looking through the console' to see this information?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would like to know as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Mission Architect chat shows you everytime you are rated. You can determine 5, 4, and 3 rates from the number of tickets you get. Everything else is 'unknown' because they don't award tickets.

[/ QUOTE ]Doesn't it only tell you if you're online when it gets rated, though?
  11. [ QUOTE ]
I think what makes flash arrow different is that its autohit (I think), and you're useless if you're blind. Other sets aren't as bad. In your example, willpower minions you can still fight, and rad blast LTs you can still fight.

[/ QUOTE ]Radiation Infection is pretty bad, too. Autohit, and it drops your hit change and defense really low with jut a single application.
  12. Ninja Blade is almost identical to Katana, and in fact use the same weapons.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Working assumption is that 30% give random ratings and don't know about 0 stars so they rate a 3 average. This means your arc's at 4.4 if the remaining 70% all rate it 5. If you can get a temporary influx of "sane" people (through word of mouth or whatever) then your arc can crest above 4.5 but after that influx fades the randoms will drag it back down. Or you just get a small stretch of good random luck and you go above 4.5, but then as more people play you hit a bad stretch and drop back down.

[/ QUOTE ]You don't need to be above 4.5 to get HoF, you need to be above 4.0.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Why is it set up so that if you choose not to rate an Arc, it counts negatively towards the Arc?

    [/ QUOTE ]Um... it doesn't

In order to rate an arc with 0 stars, you have to click 1 star twice. If you never click any stars, it doesn't count for anything.

Additionally there are the mezzed badge series.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Technically these badges are not directly counted as Malta as you say. Sappers are just used to farm for them. You could use other if you wanted to, like Illusionists.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, but Sappers are least likely to be capable of ever killing you, since they have no damaging powers.

For my purposes here, a Mary Sue is a character of either sex that a) is an obvious stand-in for the author, which is adequately demonstrated by the character being one of the author's PCs or an Expy (thinly disguised version) of such, and b) is being repeatedly glorified by the arc, constantly telling us how powerful/intelligent/wonderful/special/etc. the character is.

[/ QUOTE ]I realize that's your personal criteria, but I'm just going to chip in here and say for me, only that second condition is necessary for me to consider a character a Mary Sue. Making the Mary Sue also be the author's character just makes the problem worse. (There are a couple of descriptive words I would use for it that would probably end up getting modded - suffice to say "pleasing to the self")
  17. My current understanding:
    * Drops off of enemies are based on enemy rank, and each rank has 3 possible amounts of tickets it can give.
    * Mission complete bonus is based on the number of tickets earned during the mission (I'm uncertain if it's just doubling the number you got from drops, or based on it in some other way)
    * Mission #2 completion bonus gets 5% extra tickets. Mission #3 gets 10% extra, Mission #4 gets 15% extra, and mission #5 gets 20% extra.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
HOF missions losing their status is ridiculous.

The bar is high enough that getting over it represents a major achievement and a guarantee of a certain level of quality- where's the logic in 'losing' them at some future date?

    Stupid, stupid, stupid.

[/ QUOTE ]Any arc that deserves HoF will keep it regardless of what happens. If HoF can be lost to bad ratings, HoF arcs that achieve that rank through means other than deserving the status will drop off the list.

However, regardless of what happens to the arc, the author should keep the extra slot.

Plus controller and dom pets are, for the most part, permanent. (Long, LONG duration, so functionally permanent.)

[/ QUOTE ]In point of fact, Controller/Dominator pets last the exact same time as Mastermind henchmen. 27+ hours.
  20. Hey, when did they sneak that in? O.o

I remember getting a patch note about it, but it didn't actually happen.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I think being able to change costumes and sexes of the mm pets would be cool.

[/ QUOTE ]Please search for "Power Customization". Because that's what you're suggesting here.

You are told after accepting the mission that you might want to get help.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Is that really a big deal? It's not like you're stuck with MA missions taking up a slot if it turns out you can't beat them.

[/ QUOTE ]I think it's a style thing. "You should bring friends" should be in the mission briefing, not in the sendoff.

Okay, apparently arcs that enter the Hall of Fame can lose that rating due to down-votes (I'm now back in the Hall of Fame, but probably not for long). I have the extra publishing slot so long as the arc remains in the Hall of Fame, but once it's voted out, I lose the extra slot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If this is working as intended, then it's insanity gone mad (possibly hyperbolic, that, but i like using the phrase ).

HoF should lock once its acheived, in my opinion. If the Devs intend fot it to NOT lock, then I can't believe that they mean for the extra slot to vanish too. I'd believe that's a bug rather than think that's what they want.

    Eco.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't think HoF should be locked, but I do think that the author shouldn't ever lose the extra slot.
