Let this be another lesson to anyone that confidently posts "never going to happen" in response to a suggestion they don't like.
Add side-switching to the long list of things that were "never going to happen". I love this game....there is simply no such thing as "never going to happen".
[/ QUOTE ]I don't believe I ever said side switching was never going to happen... but I did say I didn't want it to happen. I still feel that way, but I'm torn, since the prospect of more canon regarding Praetorian Earth is enticing. (Also, more badges for my badger characters)
[/ QUOTE ]
How's that going to work, will keep our heroic badges if we go to villain side? I want to go red side, get all the badges I can and the swap back.
[/ QUOTE ]The badge will swap to it's other-side counterpart. For example, if you've got a Villain with the "Villain" badge, and switch to heroes, the badge will change to "Reformed".
The reason is because both Villain and Reformed are actually the same badge. The game just checks your hero/villain flag to decide what text and image to display. -

I see the badge complaint a lot but don't quite understand it. From my understanding there's already choices in game that lock you out of certain badges but it goes beyond this. They said that you can go from hero to villain to back to hero again if you want. What this means is that you can get all the hero based badges, become a villain, and then start getting villain badges which potentially allows you to get far more badges than normal.
Now.. if you can choose to be a Exemplary Hero instead you miss possibly one badge while having access to much more. As I said before. There's already choices that lock you out of certain badges. So if you're a badge collector the obvious choice is to go to the other side and have access to a plethora of other badges. You missed one on hero side? Switch back over and get it.
Or is there something I'm missing?
[/ QUOTE ]
You have it right actually. The devs have even said that there is nothing now preventing a hero/villain from obtaining the other sides badges except the inability to access the requirements for said badges. For example heroes could not get the longbow defeat badge until missions in the RWZ allowed heroes to fight them.
[/ QUOTE ]Well, there are things preventing people from gaining other-side badges, as proven by the devs preventing Heroes from getting Reformed, before reversing the change.
Also, before RWZ, Heroes could get Reformed by having a Villain confuse them in Siren's Call and then killing Longbow. -

[/ QUOTE ]There are only 4 badges you can ever get locked out of right now: Efficiency Expert (if you fail one of Efficiency Expert Pither's timed missions), and the badges for the 3 Patrons you didn't pick. -

Pretty much this, but if they do it right, I doubt I'll be all that upset in the long run.

So no to anything new?
[/ QUOTE ]Hardly. I was excited about Inventions, Ouroboros, Cimerora, and Architect Entertainment, for example. -

iirc, this is a bug
[/ QUOTE ]It's not a bug, it's the way the powers system works. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
if you ask me, most people would probably be happy to make the dmg res in Recon (and Healing Flames, and...Alkaloid...and...?) unenhanceable in order to have the set bonuses effect it (them)
[/ QUOTE ]
The powers system doesn't allow it. The way Castle explained it was that the unenhanceable flag would apply to the entire power, not just the resistance component.
[/ QUOTE ]That's incorrect.
For any given power effect, in order to make it unaffected by buffs, Castle can do one of two things:
1) Flag the power effect as both unenhanceable and unaffected by buffs
2) Flag the entire power as unaffected by buffs (allowing the effect in question to be enhanced)
If Castle wants a heal's +Res to be enhanceable (and in many cases, the self heal's +Toxic res is the only source of protection from Toxic the set gets), he has to mark the whole power as unbuffable. He could make the heal buffable by setting the resistance to be unenhanceable and unbuffable, but it seems he's unwilling to do that. -
I remember asking for a Medusa GM around the time Cim was released. Hell, we've already got an in-game model for Medusa's sister, Stheno

The game's help menu is very outdated. Sure, whenever a new feature is added, a section is added to the Help documentation, but the old stuff is never updated, and sometimes the new stuff isn't even right. The hero version of the help says that you need 3 IOs to get set bonuses, and the villain version say you need the whole set!
However, the errors can be rectified, in the same manner as Vidiotmaps, Vanden's Power Icon Fix, or my own QuickChat menu customization. By adding help.txt and v_help.txt to the correct folder in your CoH installation, using the correct file format, you can override the game's default Help menu.
And there's the kicker. There's a lot of information in the Help menu, correct and up-to-date or not. I would like to develop a new version of the Help menu, to distribute in the same manner as the other "mods" we've got for the game already. But I'm not up to the task of creating such a thing for every aspect of the game in anything approaching a reasonable amount of time, especially since some areas are things I don't do much (PvP, base building).
My solution, then, has been to create a development area on Paragonwiki. As a sub-page of my user page, I have up up a wikitext version of the current help menu. I'll be working on modifying these pages over the summer, but I'd like the help of as many people as are willing.
Some points:
<ul type="square">[*]Don't be afraid to vary from the structure that's set in the game. You can have major categories (Tab in-game, separate pages on the wikii version), and minor categories (Topic links on the left side in-game, section headers on the wiki version) in any combination. I recommend keeping the minor categories short, as they can run over the edge if they're too long, but other than that, the sky's the limit.[*]The help menu allows a limited subset of HTML. What exists in the files currently are <b>, <i>, <table>, <color>, and <img>. Please just use wiki formatting, and I'll worry about the conversion.[*]While images can be added, only images which are in the pigg files will work, not any arbitrary image. Therefore, avoid adding an image unless you know it's available.[*]I've included the Hero/Villain distinction to the pages just to note the current differences between the versions. As noted by Area and Merit Rewards onwards, it's certainly possible to write Help documentation for both sides at once. I'd prefer that Hero and Villain versions be identical, as it makes maintenance easier.[/list]
I'm watching all of the pages in this development area, and I'll be working on them myself as well. So pleas,e help as you see fit.
----------
Again--
The Goal: To create a complete, coherent, and up-to-date version of the Help menu to be distributed to players as a mod
How: Visit The Development Area I've set up on Paragonwiki user page, and just edit it like any wiki
Keep In Mind: Limit your fanciness. The game currently only uses bold, italic, color, table, and a few images in the help's formatting. I'm not certain what else is possible -

You actually zone into the AE buildings
[/ QUOTE ]No you don't. The interior of the AE buildings is actually within their exterior, in the normal game world. Depending on your graphics settings, you can even see clearly though the windows into the zone around you, and watch other players fly/run/jump past. For a while, Rikti dropships would even fly through the AE buildings in some zones during raids, and due to the kill-field within the building, explode.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? I didn't understand that was how it worked. Thanks for educating me F_W. I was assuming that because no one outside the building was affected by the interior Power Suppression room that the interior of the building wasn't in the same "zone".
[/ QUOTE ]If I had to guess (and I do), they force the power suppression in Studio B to stay there by creating an invisible entity pulsing the NoPowers aura, and they flag that entity's power to require line-of-sight. Since everywhere outside Studio B is outside LoS, it doesn't work anywhere else. -

Improve the game engine.
[/ QUOTE ]This is so vague as to be useless. Improve WHAT? "The game engine" covers quite literally everything except the database/files storing missions, characters, and market inventories. Saying "improve the game engine" is like saying "make the game fun~!"
What the hell does that even mean? -
Joy: Yes, though it seems to occasionally not work, since the heal is based on summoning a pet, which needs to inherit the short-term buff from you. If the timing on the set bonus is just off, it's possible to have the set bonus not apply
Enerix: Yes, with a condition. Yes, +Heal affects self heals. However, some self-heals also have +Res (most often Toxic). When the +Res is enhanceable, the power must be flagged as not accepting buffs, otherwise damage buffs will buff the +Res. For powers which do not accept buffs, +Heal will not affect the self heal.
Rule of thumb: If you can slot the power with Heal enhancements and with Resist enhancements, +Heal set bonuses won't apply to it. -

It means they want programmers with racing stripes. Preferably red racing stripes because as we all know, red = GO FASTAH
Alternately, perhaps they want RATED ARRRR SUPERSTARRRR programmers in order to increase the awesomeness levels in the office.
[/ QUOTE ]No, the most effective go-faster stripes are blue on a white background. -

You almost have to rate Granite separate from Stone, since it's incompatible with the other armors and makes such a drastic difference. If you're considering Stone Armor as a whole, though, obviously it's going to come in #1 for survivability, trading a lack of maneuverability and a hefty recharge debuff to get that #1 spot (though that can be largely mitigated with Speed Boost).
[/ QUOTE ]Outside of Granite, though, I'd place Stone below Inv. -

I can guarantee you, other than suggestions for existing features during GR beta, you are months too late to suggest anything for the GR expansion. -

The way I look at it is the game costs $14.99 per month per player and should be able to play and have fun since this is a GAME.
[/ QUOTE ]It may be a game, but it's their game. And if we want to play, we have to play by their rules.

This new ticket cap is totally bs. With NO drops during the missions a player should be able to get one gold recipe roll of thier level atleast.
[/ QUOTE ]Are you seriously suggesting that MA should give you in one single near-risk-free mission the same reward as a multi-mission team-required TF or Trial? -

Methinks MrDestiny does not know what "QOL" means. I'd really like to be able to double-click characters, too. When I was a newbie, I kept double-clicking and thinking it was broken because I didn't even notice the button on the lower-right.
[/ QUOTE ]
What does "Quality of Life" (yay for google), have to do with adding double clicking to the interface? Are you truly going to sit there and say that your "QOL" is diminished because of the lack of a single feature that is indirectly connected to actual play?
[/ QUOTE ]No, they're not saying QoL is reduced by not having this suggested feature. They're saying QoL is increased by adding it.
