At any time, without telling us, they can run a script which free the names of characters who:
- Are under level 6, and
- Are on accounts inactive (unpaid) for over 90 days
A character whose name is freed loses that name if someone else tries to take it. If nobody takes the name, the name is secured again by logging into the character. If the name does get taken, the character is given a free rename.
We don't know how often they have run or will run the name-freeing script, just that they can do it at any time. -

I'm gonna guess not, since Pets are Pets in the game's coding, IIRC.
I could be wrong, but I don't think they can distinguish between the powers that are called "pet". Plus, which are the "non-problematic" ones?
[/ QUOTE ]I believe the OP is simply asking for those pet's to have reduced base recharge times, not to only allow buffing on those pets. -

Uhm...letting your team mates die when it could have possibly been avoided by a heal is generally a bad thing, FYI.

For both players and NPCs, the game actually forces an attack to auto-hit occasionally. That means true 95% damage mitigation isn't really possible
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes it is. Streakbreaker isn't just random, it has a system.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you for pointing me to that nice little article. After a couple years absence and being lured back only by Architect, I had been having a really hard time finding some of my old data sources. It definitely looks like I don't have to worry about the actual Streakbreaker code. Just the soft and hard caps. So 90% damage mitigation from defense alone is at least possible. (5% low-end capped to-hit * up to 1.5 accuracy mod for purple targets * 1.3 accuracy for boss types = 9.75% to hit. Or maybe just 9% if those accuracy mods add instead of multiply.)
That's not quite convincing me to drop Radiant Aura from my build just yet, though. Getting that level of defense is going to be tricky for anybody but a force-field defender, multiple defenders, or a defender buffing a tanker or scrapper (or substitute corrupter, mastermind, controller, or brute as appropriate if you prefer.) Even then, having 1 out of 10 attacks hit can still hurt.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't drop Radiant Aura, or any heal for that matter.

Rebalance endurance use so it is relative to damage output.
[/ QUOTE ]Endurance cost is already a part of the balance equation.
[ QUOTE ]
That is, if it takes 1% endurance to do 5 damage, it should take 1% to do 5 damage for everyone. Tankers will use less endurance, Defenders will use less endurance, Blasters would use more.
[/ QUOTE ]That is, frankly, a stupid idea. It essentially removes the need for Blasters and Scrappers entirely. The balancing equation the devs use currently is based on the power's damage scale, not the actual damage it does. That means that the endurance cost is unaffected by the AT's ranged and melee damage modifiers, meaning there can be AT differentiation apart from simply power lists. -

Considering how rarely you'll actually see anyone slotting any of the resistant heals for +res, I'm pretty sure that there would be a significant shout for joy if he made the resistance unenhanceable and unbuffable and allowed the heal to benefit from outside buffs. But I doubt he will because that would be a buff to */regen and */fire.
[/ QUOTE ]
Keep in mind that making the heal unbuffable also makes it un-debuffable. Quite welcome when fighting things like mitos. Not sure that I would welcome the change on my /regen or /fire if it meant that Reconstruction and Healing Flames were now subject to -heal.
[/ QUOTE ]
You sure about that? I'm pretty sure I recall having Recon and DP reduced to nothing by green Mitos during Hami raids already.
[/ QUOTE ]Mitos don't have -Heal, they have +Res(Heal). They don't reduce your heal's effectiveness, they make you resistant to healing. An Empath hit with some Endocronic Blasts healing someone that was unaffected would heal for the full value, despite the "debuff". -

Let this be another lesson to anyone that confidently posts "never going to happen" in response to a suggestion they don't like.
Add side-switching to the long list of things that were "never going to happen". I love this game....there is simply no such thing as "never going to happen".
[/ QUOTE ]I don't believe I ever said side switching was never going to happen... but I did say I didn't want it to happen. I still feel that way, but I'm torn, since the prospect of more canon regarding Praetorian Earth is enticing. (Also, more badges for my badger characters)
[/ QUOTE ]
How's that going to work, will keep our heroic badges if we go to villain side? I want to go red side, get all the badges I can and the swap back.
[/ QUOTE ]The badge will swap to it's other-side counterpart. For example, if you've got a Villain with the "Villain" badge, and switch to heroes, the badge will change to "Reformed".
The reason is because both Villain and Reformed are actually the same badge. The game just checks your hero/villain flag to decide what text and image to display.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I figured those badges would remain but I thinking about the task force badges and such. Would I lose the Task Force Commander Accolade and its benefits?
[/ QUOTE ]I imagine you'd keep the badge (The badge[censored] community would probably have Positron for lunch if it were otherwise), though I don't know what they'll do about the accolade power. If I had to guess (and I do), I'd say you'll keep the power, but you won't get a second power if you get the other-side equivalent of the accolade (eg: if you're a Hero with Task Force Commander, swapping to villain you'll still have +5% HP, but getting Invader wont' get you another +5%) -

Personally I think that some folks are even getting too worked up about the Going Rogue expansion, expecting it to be out around the same time or soon after Issue 15. I think that's not very likely, and the real time frame will be more along the lines of June or July 2010.
[/ QUOTE ]I think a release date in the Christmas/New Years time frame is more likely than a full year (and then some) from the announcement.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was thinking Halloween release. What better reason to change costumes than flipping sides?
[/ QUOTE ]That's also a good candidate. I was thinking more towards Christmas time, since this will more than likely be another new box on the shelves, and that'll be a good time for sales.
Then again, a Halloween-ish release would mean it's still "New" for Black Friday. -
Right. The two options are "This power cannot be buffed", and "This power effect cannot be enhanced or buffed".
Reconstruction is the former, which lets you put in Resistance enhancements. Alkaloid is the latter, which prevents you from doing so. -

Base portal suffers from two drawbackes:
1: the 30 second animation.
2: 24 months vet award , not everyone you're playing with is likely to have it (90% of time, 99% in Pick Up Groups)
[/ QUOTE ]You don't need the vet reward any more. Base teleporter is also a Day Job power. -
My project is just modifying the existing Help menu in the game. So, I can have text, text formatting, some images, and separation into categories and one level of sub-categories.

The Guide to Paragon City's Network of Contacts
The Guide to the Rogue Isles' Network of Contacts
Edit: It's not entirely up-to-date. It still doesn't have Faultline, for example, and some missions in the 40s CoV still haven't been filled in. -

There's a huge difference between sideswitching or fallen/redemption and creating a brute and entering Atlas Park from the character creation screen.
[/ QUOTE ]
You sure we won't be able to enter Praetorian Atlas as a brute and shift over after running to the new portal corp building there at level 1?
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty sure. I'm guessing you'll have to run the Praetoria missions and make "choices" that affect your alignment. Only once you've moved your alignment to the appropriate heroic or good level, only then will you be able to enter blueside.
--NT
[/ QUOTE ]
But if you can go from Mercy directly into Praetoria, and go Good by lvl 5, effectively it's the same thing as rolling a Brute blue-side directly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which you should be able to do. There is no reason why I can't roll up a villain blaster or a hero brute.
[/ QUOTE ]
But you won't be able to do. GR is an expansion, and you must have COH/COV to play it. Meaning the same game systems are in effect as now, except there's an expansion that allows you to modify your alignment =after= you've created your characters.
Read the official description again without the "I wish" glasses on.
--NT
[/ QUOTE ]It's possible for an expansion to modify your character creation options. For example, when CoV first came out, people who only had CoH or only had CoV were never given the popup to choose Hero/Villain, and had fewer character slots. People without CoV couldn't enter SG bases. You could also look at Guild Wars and its expansions, though that's starting to stray into foreign territory of another developer. -

How about if you report the arc so they get banned ... It's what I do to arcs that don't work (ie old rikti comm officer maps)
[/ QUOTE ]If the arc doesn't start at all, you can't even report it. -
[ QUOTE ]
BTW, Memphis_Bill, valid reason for in-game demorecording? I've demorecorded at least two dozen separate animation/map glitches to send to GM support when stuff has gone wrong with the game. It's a rather valuable tool because then the support guys can play it back and see exactly what I'm seeing.
[/ QUOTE ]I believe M_B's point was that /demorecord doesn't affect gameplay at all, yet it exists anyways -

how is it that Alkaloid is Power Boostable if it has an enhanceable resistance component...wasn't that the whole point that was just discussed?
[/ QUOTE ]... Alkaloid doesn't have enhanceable resistance. Which is why he power itself can be buffed. -

I love wailers! I mean, they have incredibly weak attacks, give just as much exp as other mobs, and spawn in huge, easily-dispatched hordes... Even the bosses are a breeze to take out... and they give twice as much exp as any other boss! (Except maybe freakshows... except that while freak tankers MAY wake up, wailer kings seem to ALWAYS do so.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Initial attacks by Wailers may be "incredibly weak" but these are Sonic blasts they use. If you don't defeat them quickly, they'll stack -Res debuffs on you and you won't think them too weak when the fight goes something like this:
1st volley - "heh, that kinda tickled but my health is still over 90%"
2nd round - "whoa, that was a big dip to yellow health"
3rd round - "I think I'll rez at the base to pick up some purple insps..."
This is especially pronounced when you team on that mission and YOU happen to be the ambush's target. If they get the drop on you
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah. Using a MM is fun, though. You've got 6 meatshields to help keep you alive -
[ QUOTE ]
For an example less related to a rival franchise, when do you imagine the developers will cave in and admist that stamina is a requirement for 99% of player-characters and not an "option" and simply give it to us for free?
[/ QUOTE ]Well, according to Positron, they'll remove endurance from the game entirely before giving Stamina away for free.
