Publish the list on the forum or as a download on the FTP site.

Bwahaha, bang goes the Teen rating.

[/ QUOTE ]The "bad word list" is um... accessible. And theoretically changeable on your local machine in the same manner as Vidiotmaps, etc., but I've never tried, since I just turn it off. The list of names/phrases banned for use making characters/MArcs isn't available, to my knowledge.

If you really want to know what the bad word list contains, send me a PM and I can direct you to a copy hosted on one of my webpages, or search Google for "cebsnar.txt". I don't think the mods would appreciate me linking directly to it in the thread, though.

Which as the other poster mentioned is not worth while.

[/ QUOTE ]I disagree. mag 3 protection will protect you from all knockdown, and even most knockback. It won't protect you from everything, but it will protect you from a lot, and it's cheap

Black should be black opposed to semi-opacity white. And the inverse for white auras, they are like BLAM!

[/ QUOTE ]Black is 0x000000, White is 0xFFFFFF. Auras are additive.

Essentially, the appearance of a pixel for the aura is X (the color the pixel should be) + Y (the color of the aura), capped at 0xFFFFFF. X+0x000000 = X. X+0xFFFFFF = 0xFFFFFF. A pure black aura is translucent, and a pure white aura is solid. (The process is a little bit more complicated than that, but it's the gist of the situation)

The alternative would be to make auras multiplicative, but that would just reverse the transparency problem (black would be solid and white would be translucent)

This suggestion doesn't include Inflict Moderate Wounds, Charm Person, Slow, Charm Monster, Sleep, Fear, Disintegrate, Telekinesis, Finger of Death, or Flesh to Stone, so I'm not interested.

The underlying assumption of the thread is that Defenders have a problem that needs addressing.

I believe that assumption is hilarious

    [/ QUOTE ]

    fix'd

[/ QUOTE ]No no no. The underlying assumption isn't that Defenders have a problem that needs addressing. The assumption is that Defenders are awesome, and therefore deserve to be buffed at every turn.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
You can't. As soon as they come back, kick them off then.

[/ QUOTE ]Yep, did that on one of the Shard TFs a while back. One person was constantly AFK near the beginning of the TF, and then logged out. They logged back in right after we started the final mission, and I booted 'em.

    Passing down inf

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure how well that would work, given how low the inf. cap is relative to the prices folks are willing to pay at the CH. It would be nice if the cap was safely higher. Much much higher.

[/ QUOTE ]Smurphy was running a sort of inf investment firm for a while, taking money, and using it to make money on the market (and investors could withdrawl their money at any time, of course). He's got multiple accounts, is good at playing the market, and had some people helping him, but it's possible to achieve.

    Mob = 1 enemy unit
Mobs or Spawn or Group = multiple enemy units
Critter = 1 Non-attacking/Non-attackable pet unit (i.e. a Kitty Cat that follows your toon around OR found wandering around a map )

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which, honestly, all sounds so non-intuative to someone who's never played an MMO before...even many people who have played a few before.

The only one of those that is correct usage in the English language, according to Merriam-Webster, is the "Spawn or Group". I can see why many people get confused, when in hectic situations.

I feel that this is a 'live and let live' situation.

[/ QUOTE ]His definition for "critter" is also incorrect as far as this game is concerned. While MOB has its origins in the guts of the program, the guts of this program calls enemies "critters".
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I never understood the use of 'mob' for a single foe.

    <dictionary definition>

[/ QUOTE ]It's an abbreviation of programmer jargon from the old MUD/MUSH (Multi-User Dungeon/Multi-User Shared Hallucination: the precursors to MMOs, frequently D&D-based) days. In a MUD, both enemies and things like shopkeepers were frequently programmed to be "Mobile OBjects" (or alternatively: MOBiles, MOBile objects, or MObile oBjects). The abbreviation was picked up by players then, and has carried until now.

Bringing up the dictionary definition is useless. MOB isn't a word, it's an abbreviation.
  14. Several contacts have strange ranges. IIRC, if you flashback to Creed's arc, you'll malefactor to 8, not 9.
  15. Most likely, you got hit with cascading defense failure. Part of your survival as WP depends on Defense, and all the Cimerorans except the Surgeons have -Def in most of their attacks. And the Surgeons heal the others, making them stay alive longer to kill you dead-er.

  17. For subjects which are of specific importance to the devs (ie: your farming thread example), what benefit is gained from having multiple threads?

It's just like having multiple pages, except each page is harder to find and you're guaranteed to get repetition, rather than just a strong likelihood.
  18. Sure, I'll take a buff to my Defenders' damage. While you're at it, I'd appreciate adding a defense debuff to Petrifying Gaze. The combat spam says there's one there, after all! >.>

Rest assured that if anyone makes fun of you for not having a picture, they will be subject to the forum's wrath and derision, not you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's where you are wrong. People without pictures just plain shouldn't be in the forums. Buncha no avatar losers is what they are.

[/ QUOTE ]Also people with nothing else to do but post on the forums in their free time, accumulating tens of thousands of totally useless posts to their names. Those guys are jerks

Mid's doesn't help us Mac users who don't have access to Windows...

[/ QUOTE ]I believe one of the things they're looking into doing is getting Mids' working under Mono, which would then let you use it on a Mac or Linux box.

[/ QUOTE ]There's an online planner available here, along with Mids. It's not as awesome as Mids, but it's a lot better than nothing.

[/ QUOTE ]Suckerpunch's planner is so out of date I couldn't imagine using it for anything seriously. I don't mean that as a slight to Suckerpunch, but for build planning, it's just not practical.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
That would defeat the purpose of having to earn them.

    /unsigned

[/ QUOTE ]Nonsense. The Cyborg auras are only unlocked at lv1 because they're paid for, just like the Valkyrie cape. Adding the normal auras to the combat auras list would mean you can have any of the auras as a combat aura once you unlock auras at 30
  22. [ QUOTE ]
It makes sense devs and players would have two different jargons as player jargon is meant to aid in playing the game, and dev jargon is meant to aid in making the game.

[/ QUOTE ]Which is kinda funny, since MOB was programmer jargon in the days of the MUD/MUSH

I tend to use mob and critter interchangeably on the forums, and as someone else said, I refer to the specific enemy when I'm in the game.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
It'd be nice if the AT scalers for resistance were balanced by AT's with resistance sets getting some kind of -res debuff resistance... AV's get equivalent -defdebuff resistance to most defense sets. Why can't we get even half of that for resistance?

[/ QUOTE ]You already do. Unlike Defense, Resistances resists Resistance Debuffs.

While a defense set needs 90% defense resistance in order to reduce -def by 90%, a resistance set automatically reduces -res by 90% when you have 90% Resistance.
