Regarding the "Special Links" (if you're using Firefox)
-
I'm pretty sure that's not intended. Did you try to /petition a GM about it?

Quote:A seamless world in this game is impractical with current mainstream hardware and internet connections, and anyone who understands how seamless worlds work and has played this game would know that. (Hint: The average gamer's computer and connection can't handle a seamless world at the speeds we move in this game. There's a reason characters in WoW move so slowly)The war walls like ultimus said was to make the game seamless instead of loading from zone to zone.
The "War Walls coming down" developer comment was apparently in reference to the Rikti invasion world event (when the War Walls come down to let the dropships in), and there is no hint that the devs have ever actively developed towards a seamless world for this game.
They have mentioned that seamless world is a "pie in the sky" goal, but that's far from saying that they're developing, or even thinking about developing it. -
Quote:There's a cap per day? I noticed you can't give rep to the same person repeatedly without going around to others, didn't realize there was a per-day limit.Okay then, what do "they" say about the size of a woman's rep-metre?
Drat, reached my cap for giving out rep for the day. Oh, well, I'll start again manana.

I guess I'm not nice enough to people to hit the limit?

Quote:And you can use petselect for pets, but you still can't cycle either with a macro. You can, however, use /teamselect 1-8 to target teammates.
You're probably going to have to use bindloads to do this.
It would be something like push button a, fire power, load keybind 2. Push button a, fire power, load keybind 1.
Unfortunately I'm not at all talented with writing something this complex so I can't help you beyond that. -
I think Kinetics would probably be pretty hard for a death = delete character. It's only available on squishy ATs, and mostly requires you to be in melee. The heal is small compensation.
For anyone considering death = delete and doesn't want a super hard core challenge, Mind/FF controller is extremely safe
-
You can't get a macro to fire off two click powers, even with multiple clicks, and you can't get a macro to cycle through pets or teammates, except with /targetcustomnext... and that only works if they're on your screen.

I have two beefs with the new forums, one of which I know it shared by at least some others:
1) You must click a small linked image to get to the newest unread post in a thread
2) The "Forum Tools" popup menu (required to mark a forum as read) is painfully slow to animate
So, I have created a Greasemonkey script to alleviate my issues.
If you've already got Greasemonkey installed (requires restarting Firefox), you can get the script from here:
CoH Forum Mod
(Just click the "Install" link, and the Greasemonkey install dialog will open for you)
What the script does:
- The "Forum Tools" button is removed. It gets replaced by a "Mark Forum Read" link.*
- The "Mark Forum Read" link will mark all posts in the forum as read, and move you to the parent forum.**
- Any thread links which follow a new post arrow, which shares the post ID with the new post arrow, will have its link modified to go to the new post. Threads without new posts will remain unchanged (thread link takes you to the first post in the thread)
- The forum skin remains unmodified
I've tested this with both Hero and Villain skin. The only problem I can foresee occurring would be caused by catastrophic errors in the forum layout, which is far beyond my control.
Here's an example: The thread title with new posts in it is being hovered over with my mouse, and the url at the bottom will take me to the new post:

Note that the script will only be active while you're viewing a forum on these boards. It will also work on the search page, as well as on subscribed threads in your user CP.
* Yes, this does remove a handful of things you can do in a forum, like subscribe/unsubscribe to the whole forum. But I don't think there's anything in the popup that is both used frequently and not found elsewhere. For the things used infrequently (eg, subscribe to forum), you can temporarily disable the script. For things found elsewhere (eg, New Post), you can access them elsewhere anyway.
** This behavior is slightly different from the Mark Forum Read option in the Forum Tools popup, in that the Forum Tools version keeps you in the same forum. However, this is apparently accomplished with a redirect in the PHP code, which I cannot prevent. Besides, if you're marking the forum read, you're probably not going to be reading more threads there. -
The attacks are extremely skippable once you're past level 12 or so. For Robotics and Mercenaries, the utility power (Repair and Serum, respectively) is pretty skippable, too. Several secondaries also have skippable powers. All in all, Masterminds have plenty of room to make variety.

Chat bubble colors are broken (except the color you can set in the options window)

Quote:You coudl increase the size of the post box even on the old forumsI'm excited that replying to a message opens up a REAL text editing space, instead of a postage-stamp sized quadrant requiring constant and annoying scrolling for any post longer than a couple of lines.

Right, pet recharge already can't be buffed (SB), meaning Kinetics MMs just get a heal (Dark already has an identical heal, and Transfusion would probably have a nerfed radius like Twilight Grasp. In fact, with Fluffy, Dark has the heal twice), damage capped pets, and if you like, pets which will run all over the entire map without any possibility of control from you (have you ever seen a Ninja with SB?)
And even with damage cap, the only real problems would be Arsonist and Assault Bot. -
Quote:I am not saying creating a duel command would be that hard on its own, nor that making it only work on a single server would be that difficult.I suspect it wouldn't require near the developement time you are suggesting.
What I am saying is that once it's done, further changes to the game will take longer if /duel only exists on a single server. This is because they would then be running two distinct versions of the server code, and on top of developing in both environments, they must test both environments whenever a change is made. -
Aside from the glaringly obvious problems with abuse this suggestion has, there's the issue that ambushes in this game are dumb, and most people outside missions are either standing in AE/WW/BM (where there's an insta-kill field), or moving too fast for the NPCs to follow. In the former case, the suggestion is free badges, especially for people running AE missions all the time. In the latter case, other people have to deal with your assassination ambushes.
It's also monstrously unfair to Mastermids, who need henchmen in order to have their full combat ability, and those henchmen don't zone with you. -
I'm just saying there are more effective things to spend inf on than travel HOs for Hover
-
It's another part of the searching system. You can click a tag and get all the threads that have that tag.
According to the FAQ, the tag link text is supposed to change size depending on how much that tag is used throughout the forum, but I haven't noticed them being different sizes, even ones that have already been used a few times. -
Now people will want a hero skin version. You've dug your own grave, Zombie

Quote:You have to run Hover for 16s to make it even cost the same as Neutrino Bolt...It's great to slap in Hover, increasing flyspd as well as decreasing end, which is very nice indeed since the characters for whom I get Hover, I usually have perma-Hover, so combat is nasty with no endurance reduction slotted in Hover. Travel-Os and dual-aspect set IOs make that much easier.
-
Yes, rep is apparently anonymous in both directions.
-
While it might seem thematic for the set, there isn't any other MM primary whose utility power is unrelated to the henchmen.
Necromancy: Works on defeated henchmen
Mercenaries: Buffs a henchman
Robotics: Heals a henchman
Ninjas: Lets the henchmen crit
Thugs: Summons more henchmen -

Why do you need a link to a secure version of the home page? It still doesn't give you a secure login to the forums, and you get a secure link in the NCSoft store no matter what.

Quote:I doubt it would be difficult to create the /duel code. But trying to maintain multiple codebases across servers just slows everything in the development cycle down.Would it be difficult to allow this already-existing flag to be turned on in any zone and/or to limit this capability to one server? I'm not a gaming programmer, but I am a programmer nonetheless, and I don't think it would be difficult at all.
Sure, they could give us /duel on just one server. But would you be willing to have that if it added another month or two to the development of every issue, and weeks to every minor update?
