Flipper's evil (possibly Praetorian) twin, Flopper? I know it *looked* like the end of him when Bud shot him in the eye with that harpoon gun, but since then there have been reports of a eye patch-wearing porpoise all up and down the Florida Keys. Coincidence? Somehow I don't think so.

Unless there's something about one or more of the underused zones that would make them excellent entry points for an invasion from an alternate reality.
  7. I watched 'Lie To Me' instead. And I'll do it again!
  8. OT aside: Wait, DC is doing another 'Weird Worlds' title? What's in it this time?

Oh - monsters as heroes. Garbage Man.

Back in the day they were doing decent adaptions of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Mars and Pellucidar series. At least for a few issues. Then it all went to heck.

    Anyway, yay for price drop.

Samurai Dawn's amazing skills and powers derive from collaboration with a strange otherwordly entity named Frupoq, who somehow managed to become trapped in this dimension in the form of white cotton panties that somehow managed to wind up in the glove compartment of Samurai Dawn's (now ex) boyfriend's car. Samurai Dawn was about to throw the panties out the window of the car when suddenly they spoke to her, promising to bestow great power upon her if only she would wear them. Although reluctant at first, Samurai Dawn eventually gave in and donned the talking panties. While wearing the panties, Samurai Dawn can summon a ghostly katana and is automagically proficient in its use. She also becomes exceptionally agile and is able to dodge almost all attacks except for those of extremely skilled opponents and occasional lucky shots. It should be noted that she is not actually a samurai, nor is her name really Dawn.

"Aw, man. Yeah. I bought this rockin' red '63 Gibson ES-335. Ain't no better guitar for rockabilly, now, don't let nobody tell ya no different. To pay for it I took this dullsville office job over at Pearl Labs, where they make these freaky newfangled magnets. Well, one night I took a pair of Inverse Phase Polychoron 9000 cryo-magnets and put 'em in the pickups on my 335, and believe me, the sound was out of this world. Then I spilled lemonade - that cool refreshing drink - on the guitar and it caused this crazy 'di-mensional redaction' event thing and now I'm all cool and electrified. So I figure I'll just keep on rockin' and be, like, a super duper hero on the side. Fightin' crime for truth, justice, and rock and roll. The good folks at the office came up with my hero name: 'He's Office Rocker!' I kinda like it. So, yeah. Rock on!"

  13. Here's what I'm shooting for. This is derived from ideas presented by Call Me Awesome and in particular from an Electric/WM build posted by Finduilas. Until recently I didn't have hasten or tough/weave as I like to stick with powers from the primary and secondary sets as much as possible, and that had been working just fine until the afore-mentioned Tip mission with Carnies (also had some trouble with Malta in one of those new ambush upon ambush upon ambush upon ambush deals).

My recently soft-capped Ice/WM tanker can handle Carnies, and so can my Invuln/SS. This Electric/Ice guy, though - yikes. Anyway, his defenses are still negligible with his current mostly SO build but the addition of Tough and Hasten has definitely helped.

Getting back to the merits, I was considering using them to slot one attack with Kinetic Combat, or maybe picking up the Miracle +Recovery unique and a couple of other IOs, but it seems like doing the random roll thing with Hero merits might be the way to go, selling what I can't use to finance the rest of the build.

  14. Thanks for the replies. I've never had this many merits on a character before and wasn't quite sure what to do with them. Going for the random Hero rolls sounds interesting.

Here's what I've got slotted so far:

Energize - 5-slotted with Doctored Wounds
Charged Armor - 4-slotted with Reactive Armor
Conductive Shield - 4-slotted with Reactive Armor
Static Shield - 2/4 Reactive Armor
Taunt - 6-slotted with Perfect Zinger
Power Sink - 2/6 Efficacy Adapter

Everything else is SOs. I have 4 melee damage attacks ready for Kinetic Combat or Smashing Haymaker, when I can afford them.

This tanker has been a lot of fun even with a less than optimal build, but the other day I started doing Tip missions with him and when he went up against some Carnies at +1/x3 with bosses it wasn't pretty. 2 respecs later, he's doing better.
  15. If you had a level 47 electric/ice tanker with 680 merits, how would you spend them? What IO sets or individual IOs would you go for?

In regard to Cleopatra/Washington, I think a fun option would be to have them swap bodies. With all the psychic-powered types running around, surely someone has that capability. Or, if all else fails, surgically switch their heads. Then see if they're still so confounded determined to kill each other. Or which one Praetor White would want to date.
