A wart-draped rocksqueezer?
Really, if I wanted to call you a Knuckle-dragging Uni-brow, I would! So there!
*muttering* Warts is okay, but what the heck is a rocksqueezer and why is it insulting? Just Silly!

Hello, friends, I'm looking for a bit of advice. I've cultivated my Dominator as well as I could and grown him to L15, but then a friend said, 'Come hang out with me a while' and while we were chatting about 'stuff', she packed 12 levels on me! So, now I'm 27... and I have no idea where to go!
When I searched for guides and builds, I did find an excellent guide to Electric Control, but all of the builds that I've seen are practically un-usable to anyone who is not already L50 Purple-Incarnate with a billion inf to spend. If you have such an awesome build, I applaud you, really! But please bear in mind that it is of absolutely no use to me, now.
Scale back, think smaller, but still effective. Can you help me fill out to level 27, on SOs?
An SO build will get me back in action, while I work on the market, for the IOs.

I only have... maybe six local/server friends. The rest are all @Global and I'm out of room! I have a dozen or more characters on every English-speaking server and new people want to friend me every day! (Yes, I'm just that cool.

Feel free to gut the local list for More Globals!

Quote:Heh, Techbot, you're so right! If you want to get into 'old assets', I could put together a presentation on 'Texture Discontinuity' - there's a reason that people wear belts and necklaces! Granted, the issue is partly exacerbated by the ever-increasing power and size of graphics display systems - GPUs & Monitors. The 'problem' might not have been Visible a decade ago.I think 90% of the current costume options can be covered under 'old assets' Dink
And this is why I keep harping on and on about Revamp being better than 'New Shiny!', because it serves double duty.
On an unrelated note, it has recently come to my attention that there are 'Robotic Arm' options in the Fire & Ice set and they're pretty cool! Only one problem - they are all Only available under the one setting. Asymmetry is really cool, but Symmetry is cool too! I had an idea for an earthen 'Construct' that had crystal arms, powered by the crystal 'backpack', but there's no Fire & Ice assets under 'Robotic Arm 2', so I was forced to go with something else.
It's hardly the first time I've run into this sort of problem, so I'd like to introduce a new 'buzzword' - can we get some 'Costume Set Proliferation'? It's like the designers came up with something really neat, found a niche for it, and never bothered to follow through with other, possible applications. And yes, I know it's more work that lacks the initial 'Cool Factor' of making something neat and making it work in the game, but _I_, for one, would like to be able to Use that cool asset in ways that the initial designer might not have thought of.
Costume Set Proliferation, please!
Be Well!

Quote:Thanks, Dink!Fireheart: Sending it off to QA, tested it on my machine, same thing, wow, very old assets also.
I've had this issue for a while, submitted it to Jay's thread a long way back, but didn't have good Pics. Also, I suspect it's a corner situation that only shows up with my preferred 'Super-trim Huge' body-style, so... low priority, or something.
Still, I'm glad to have confirmation from somebody that it's not just my character having this issue.

Is this where we report costume things that are still broken? I've looked all over and not seen a costume bug thread. Please, if there is a better place for this, please move it!
So, I bought the 'Bat Wings' recipe for my 'dragon' character because it made sense for my back-story and it meant that I could see in 3rd person, without big wings getting in my way. After applying them, I really like the quirky 'attitude' of the wings - they're not static, but every time I Moved... there was something strange about them. The wings appeared to 'break off' and kite along, 'about 6 inches' behind my character, only to reattach themselves once he stopped moving!
Upon close examination, I realized that they are Not Attached to the character at all! They appear to be attached to some invisible plane, 'an inch or so' behind my character's back. Surely, that can't be WAI?
Just so you don't think I'm nuts, I have Pictures. Hard to find a place with good lighting for these.
And, so you can easily duplicate the effect, here is the costume code:
Code:Any chance of getting this corrected? Is it already corrected - if so, how do I apply the fix?{ CostumeFilePrefix Huge Scale 25 BoneScale -1 ChestScale -1 WaistScale -1 LegScale 0.02 HeadScales 1, 1, 1 BrowScales 1, -1, 1 CheekScales 1, Fireheart -
Heheh, okay, you're quite right about that and, since I often play Tankers, I should be used to it. I should clarify - it's not the Aggro that I mind, so much as the (somehow) still significant damage that they turn on me. I can throw out HT for the debuff, or to raise a teammate, and the next thing I know, I'm scrambling to stay alive. It seems like HT will override all other aggro... Or it could be that I'm just not running with a Tanker who can hold on to the hate.
In other news, Yes, I am seeing that I've underestimated Fearsome Stare. I Definitely need to pile on the Slots/Enhancements and make that a core part of my routine.
Be Well!
Fireheart -
Alright, that makes sense. The low effectiveness of basic Dark Pit is the reason why I skipped it in the first place. I was just looking at having a response for when Howling Twilight earned me more aggro than I wanted. Tossing in another quick stun-bomb made sense, but I can certainly see holding off on that to the 40s... Or just waiting for F-Stare to recharge and stopping them that way.
Be Well!
Fireheart -
I appreciate the feedback and thank you!
From what you're saying, I could reinforce those cone attacks and Should do so as I progress. Also, I should wedge Dark Pit into the build, for synergy with Howling Twilight. All of these should be enhanced for secondary effects - which makes sense, since every time I use Howling Twilight in combat, I earn a Ton of aggro and things get real tricky, until the teammates manage to take some of the heat, or the enemy dies.
For attack-chains... I actually run two 'loops' - ST and AoE, and mix-n-match depending on the shape of the crowd I'm working. I want to get some recharge into Fearsome Stare because, as you've said, that's looking like a real workhorse power. Next Respec, I may even prioritize F-Stare more, but I had other concerns when I was building this - basically, the single-target soloing core.
If I were planning a level-lock, TDB's build would certainly be prioritized well, but this is just a snapshot of a character in motion - I got L29 the other night, putting a 4th slot in F-Stare and one in Tactics, slotted with EndRed so I can afford to run it. I expect to look more closely at IOs and Sets when I get up to 30-something.
Again, thanks for the input!

Let's pretend that I'm a Premium player and I could get an IO license for a little while, but I don't have a lot of money. One of my favorite characters is a D3 going on D4. I often solo, but do get small-team work, as well, and I have Zero interest in PvP, so this is just PvE.
Any IOs I get would have to be fairly common and inexpensive, though I am likely to buy recipes and craft them myself, rather than pay exorbitant sums for pre-made, so they don't have to be 'junk'. I'm absolutely open to seeing THIS build maximized, or one very similar, but I have no use for your Purple Incarnate. I'm not trying to say your awesome build is not awesome, but that I Cannot Use It, so please try to stay on topic.
Here's what I'm currently working with. I am interested in SO tweaks, discussion about what the powers can and can't do, and simple IO tricks to make things more fun.
