  4. ** Also posted on the Battle Clinic forums. **

Okay, you want Legion Catgirls? I'll give you Legion Catgirls! 3 options:

    Hero ID: 'Kitten Dreams'

Hi, my name is Kitty and they say I’m a ‘Dreamer’.
All I know is that I can make people fall asleep and have really bad dreams, and sometimes bad things happen to them in those dreams. Sometimes, I can even make my dreams ‘manifest’ and cause real things to happen. Sometimes they are nice dreams, sometimes they are not.
So, now I’m a hero and I go around putting bad guys to sleep and giving them nightmares, and then they wake up in the Zig - right?

Yes, there is a silvery white cat-tail poking from under Kitty's pajamas, even though it's hard to see in the pictures.

Deep background - Somewhere in Paragon City, there is a hospital and in that hospital is a sad, quiet ward, where sad, quiet children lie, each one in a coma. Once, Lucy Dreamtime spent a period there, but she woke up, eventually, and went on.
However, while she was there, she created and manifested a 'Dream Warrior' to guard her sleep, but she didn't want to create anything Scary, so she came up with Kitty. Kitty's existence might have been ephemeral, but Lucy inadvertently harnessed the sleeping dream-power of All of the children on the ward. Now, Kitty is entirely autonomous - except that she has no real 'past', before she became a hero and she still 'works out the issues' of the dreaming children who lend her power.
Amazingly, since Kitty manifested, More of the children eventually wake up and go home, but Kitty's power and her belief in herself continues to grow.

Kitty speaks simply and quietly, with all of the joy and secret wisdom of a child. She knows a great deal - perhaps as much as all of the sleeping minds in Paragon City, but it does not color her simplicity. She 'knows' evil and fights it every day, but she does not fear it.

Now, this one is more Cat, less girl:

    Hero ID: 'Midnight Stalker'

Famous theoretical sorcerer, Ambrose St. Quintin was experimenting with shape-changing magic, when a misstep involving his feline familiar 'Midnight' produced a catastrophic mystical melt-down. When the fires had been put out and the smoke cleared, Ambrose St. Quintin and his familiar were simply gone. Huddled in their place was black-furred humanoid with distinctly cat-like features.
Forensic magicians have determined that both the mage and his familiar are 'in there', along with at least eleven other arcane influences, in dynamic balance. Mentally, the being is a strange composite - he responds to 'Ambrose', most of the time, can discuss The Art with brilliant erudition and then be completely distracted by a stray sunbeam.
However, his feline nature caused him to roam and no form of humane restraint seemed able to hold him. When he showed up on the doorstep, proudly dragging the criminals that he had captured, he was hurriedly, retroactively registered as a hero, for his own protection.

He can talk, and does talk, in English and a half-dozen other languages, some of which have been 'dead' for millennia, but he may not always be coherent - consider him to have a very bad case of ADD, when he's not out hunting bad-guys. Often enough, he is silent, or only speaks in 'cat-talk'.

And finally, a loyal member of the Legion of Catgirls, but neither cat, nor girl.

    Hero ID: 'Rogue Nightwolf'

Austrian soldier recruited by Council – craved warrior society and challenge to ‘be all he can be’. Council promised to ‘make something of him’. He was a good soldier and volunteered for the enhancement projects… So they filled him with some horrible seed of darkness, but it failed to take root. Instead, after days of sheer agony, it transformed him into a huge werewolf like creature – a Nightwolf.
Ordinarily, when the nictus seed fails and produces a wolf, it destroys the mind of the soldier, but his psyche was strong enough to remain intact. He was a Nightwolf with intelligence and personality. But his trusted leaders, his brothers in arms, called him a Failure – worse, a Failed failure and they were going to ‘recycle’ him…
Finally, the betrayal after repeated betrayal was too much for this loyal soldier to accept and he revolted. With a pair of swords he retrieved from his old locker, Rogue Nightwolf fought his way free of the Council.
Now, registered with S.E.R.A.P.H. as a Hero, he is taking the fight back to his ‘brothers’ in the Council, before they can betray more good soldiers.

We don't have wolf-tails yet, but if we did, he would have one. He talks well, for a 'wolf' but he does have a funny accent. He is warm-hearted and tries to be patient with people who fear him on sight, but he can be very disciplined when appropriate.

So, there you go, three more faces of the Legion of Catgirls. Have fun!

  5. I'm sorry, Fire/** does not lend itself to a defensive build. You can use all of the usual methods, Reactive Armor, Smashing Haymaker, Kinetic Combat, etc but Fire/** does not have any inherent Defense to build on.

As far as I've been able to tell, the advice with Fire/** is to boost HPs and Recharge and power-through on Healing Flames.

  6. Looks to me like Alpha is using superior agility to avoid the blow... Either that, or he's going to rotate in a second and auger a fist right into mister Crey's helmet...

Just because you get hit, doesn't mean you're losing!

"Alright, laddie, that was your free one, but now Momma's going to have to get rough on you."

These are great additions to your collection - showing a slightly different aspect of your characters. I'm not sure I approve of moving Fenian out of the center of the frame, like that, though... Almost makes it seem like Pitbull is the primary character. The other two are Hugely dynamic!

  10. Hmm, that's very interesting! Okay, I only have a few questions.

If you're going to Take Boxing, why not use it? Is it because of low DPA?

With a full roster of attacks, why do you need Hasten? What powers need the recharge... Instant Healing and MoG perhaps?

And finally, why Health/Stamina AND Physical Perfection - and why so late? Is it Just that all of those 30-40 powers are so critical?

    Thanks for helping me understand!

  12. Hello Scrappers, I have an old build MA/Regen Scrapper at level 17. He's fun to play, but I haven't put much time into him in years - and I want to change that!

With new Free-specs coming out for I-17, I figure now is a good time to burn the one I'm holding right now. So, I'm looking for a bit of guidance on a build to push the next 5 levels, or so. However, searching through the guides and builds that have been posted, all I see is Giga-Influence Level 50 min/max builds, which don't really do me much good, at level 17!

Please assist me in developing this ladder into a full build-framework? And if you could explain Why a given choice is best/better at a given level, that would help educate me, so I don't have to do this again!

  13. I'm 43 and regularly team with a 46 and a 35. Then there's my global SG, where the people can act pretty silly, from time to time, but I suspect that even the silliest ones are... mature individuals. And I'm fairly certain that the ones that act Most mature, are not all that old.

My own sense is that Playing keeps you young... not unlike a certain Twilight Zone episode.

  14. I'd like to add one more element to the 'perfect team' and that is that it can be ANY number of people. I've joined PUGs that made me want to scream, because we'd sit on our butts for 20-30 minutes, while the leader cried and pleaded for 2 more to fill the 8. 3-4 of Castle's players can do more and have more fun, than a full team of 8. Heck, 3 excellent players and a newb can have more fun, especially if they take the time to explain what they're doing to the newb.

Personally, I consider the third item on Castle's list to be of primary importance - Being able to Adapt trumps full knowledge a given AT/powerset. That adaptability is one of the keys to Learning how to use a given character well and terminal stupidity is... just one more opportunity to learn.

I note, though, that the list is 'unordered', so perhaps it's important to realize that each of those items is only one factor and its Importance is relative to the other factors. Completely avoiding all 'terminally stupid things' certainly makes for an effective team, given minimal levels in the other items. On the other hand, high orders of 'knowing the character' and 'adapt and adjust tactics' moves a lot of items from the 'terminally stupid' list over into the 'crazy fun' list.

I might add 'awareness and knowledge of other team AT/powers' to the list. If you are confident and knowledgeable in the buffs of the buffer (if you have one on the team), then you have a better understanding of what you can and cannot get away with. By the same token, if you know that a given teammate sometimes grabs more aggro than they can deal with, you can watch for it and compensate smoothly - no panic, no faceplant, just teamwork.

A team that can work together well, beats every other consideration.

Nope, you missed the point - 4 new powersets, proliferated to 10 ATs, means that every AT gets one new powerset.

    WP/DB Help

Here is how I'm building my own WP/DB Tanker. This combination gives you the ability to maintain a constant stream of damage, without worrying too much about your Endurance. Solo, and on small teams (with non-extreme difficulty settings) you won't be worrying too much about your Hit-points, either - although Bosses and AVs with massive attacks may be able to chop you down, if you don't have support.

In the upper levels, you may find yourself wishing for Tough & Weave - I'm only 30 so far and I don't miss them at all.

Breasts and Hands go together fairly naturally... Breasts and Feet... um, not so simply.

Breasts with hands and feet... uummmm, disturbing... yeah, I prefer breasts to be properly attached to a nice woman, and not roaming the streets. Let's face it, breasts without a woman are not that attractive.

  23. War Witch TF IN Dark Astoria! Although that might create a conflict with 'Ghost WW' in Croatoa...

Perhaps... perhaps the plot is Apex wants you to help release WW to reincarnate? and the PB Horus gets involved in the process?

Whatever it is, I agree, Dark Astoria is underutilized, except for as a hunting zone for badgers.

  24. Oh, Doctor Jay, please help! Every time I move, I end up doing this hunched-over thing and, while that may not be something that is easily fixed, it may be the cause of my problem!

The problem is that, every time I move, my Wings break off! They're just wee little Bat-type wings and they have such amusing antics, sometimes, but when I run or jump, they break off my shoulders and kite along after me, until I stop!

I'm including pictures of my affliction, as well as a costume block, in case that will make diagnosis and treatment easier.

    Donuts!

I was just commenting in chat about this and realized... It really belongs HERE! So, here's my thought.

It would be really cool if we could go into the Donut Shop in Faultline.

It could count as a Police Station, or even a whole new Day Job location.

The counter-person could sell us Inspirations... Donut Themed Inspirations!

"Yeah, give me 2 Old-Fashioneds, a Bran Muffin, 3 with Sprinkles, and a Cuppa Coffee."

    Be Well!
