  1. Okay, but what about going the 'other way' on this? **/Fire has a lot of AoE and damage goodness, all by itself. So, why not get your Tank on with Invulnerability, instead?

Invulnerability/Fire will be nicely tough, particularly with a little Defense layered on top. And there are plenty of S/L farms - it's not all Fire. Furthermore, Invulnerability is well suited for the non-AE, non-Farming content, as well. At the same time, the Fire will pump out excellent damage.

  2. I'm not a new player, been in the game steadily for years, but I'm a terrible alt-o-holic and my concentration on a single character is a bit scattershot.

Lately, I've been spending some time with one of my older blasters - almost 5 years old! I've been reminding myself why he's so much fun! Solo, or on a team without Melee-players, I can really cut loose with the wall-of-damage and knockback. Teamed with another Energy Blast character (any AT) and we can juggle the whole spawn. Fun!

Inevitably, when I play my characters, they gain levels and I get to come to the Forums, asking silly questions.

So, here's the thing - I've got a decent set-up and some ideas about the future, but I'm lacking an Education and a Plan for the future. I hope you won't mind teaching me!

He is currently level 23... Where should I go from here? How would you fill in the blanks on this? What configuration should I aim for at 30? At 40? I'm not going to suddenly fly to the end-game, so I could use some way-stations on the route.

And, um, please don't just post some uber L50+ build and expect it to make perfect sense to me... please? I don't have 50 L50s with tons of Inf and Merits and purple recipes - I need a map that this character can follow under his own power.

Doing research, I see a lot of builds that include Hasten, but my experience (so far) is that I never need it and it's a pain in the butt to 'manage'. Perhaps that's because I have taken nearly all of my blasts and don't lack for an attack-chain - unless I've been hit with slows. Slot a little recharge, and those problems ought to go away, right?

I've checked into the APPs and... none of them make much sense to me - why do I need More Attacks? Some Mez might be interesting and there seems to be armor in every set - which I'm sure is Useful! However, I don't see much that would actually make me a better Blaster? Can you help clarify the advantages?

Oh, um, thematically... he's all shiney metal, right? I don't have to risk a Genericizing by spelling it out.

  5. The best raw Resistance is Granite - 50%
Otherwise, Stone can pile up about 27% Resistance to S/L.

Temporary Invulnerability is 30% vs S/L unenhanced.
Additionally, an Invulnerability Tanker can add another 15% from other powers.

Those are the numbers, there's really not much more to discuss.

A Tanker can add another 15% from Tough.

Enhancements can almost double these numbers.

You should know all of this already! Why are you asking questions that you know the answers to?

  6. Actually, I'd say the 'cure' for Melee is an Energy/Energy Blaster... or a Human-form Peacebringer, but the Blaster is likely to give you the best Break from Melee.

Expecially if you solo, being a KB-Street-Sweeper is a blast. "Look! That one is feeling Feisty! He wants to come over here and punch me in the face! So blow him away! Oops, he actually got close! Well, that's why we have the Pom-Poms of Doom! 'Ka-BOOM!' and he flies across the room. Time to keep pushing - roll them up like a Katamari!"

Basically, you're maintaining a wall-of-destruction that you keep pushing out in front of you. Better still, team up with Another Energy Blaster and just ignore the whole 'KB is Bad' issue completely!

  11. I woulda thought Caemgen was more literary that that! And words are too 'Media'! And I'm a Fan!

Granted, this thread sees less in the way of prose and poetry, with a focus on graphic arts. I'm not sure that's entirely a good thing.

On the other hand, adding a proper 'Text' section to this forum would make it hideously more crowded! We'd probably have the whole first page filled with Stickies... Or it might have to be further subdivided between Static Graphics, Motion-Graphics (ie Video), and Speculative Fiction.

For Shame, Caemgen, you spoke without thinking.

  19. Cool, this fixes an oddity I'd noticed in the previous Williams quartet. There was a strong facial similarity between Anderson and Comrade Hero - I kept wanting to ask if they were cousins!

This new Anderson... he's a serious dude... I did like the quirky sense of humor that I was reading in the old Anderson's face, though. And maybe that's just me, projecting into the characters.

  20. Right, but the Latin 'to come' was actually pronounced with a W...
Making the famous phrase: "Weni, Widi, Wiki."
