Remember that's a PvP build though, you definately want powers such as Spine Burst for PvE.
-
We did it!
Great job Xanthus, a well organised and successful raid! Not even Lui managed to ruin it. -

For a PvE controller, fire epic is the only thing to even consider, fireball with containment is so good it's not even funny, the blast is great, shield is decent, and consume is good or great depending on your secondary.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you think that Fireball does less damage than Pési Tornado you have the picture of Psi epic...
My favorite is Psi, no doubt.
Mez resistance, cool looking shield and the best attack you can hope for a troller.
Fire is also very good for damage, from Primal Forces the only power worth picking is Power Boost wich is VERY useful on a mez heavy troller like yours, the blast does pants damage, the shield only has res to Smash and Lethal and Conserve Power is a bit MEH on a troller...
You can get Fire to have lots of damage straight away, then respec to Psi whne you're 47-48 to get the best epic pool for trollers(imo)
[ QUOTE ]
(would recommend Primal if you want to PvP)
[/ QUOTE ]
From what I can see, if you want to PvP with a troller the only way to go is Psi, Indom Will can save you lots of times and save you loads of BF slots in the insp tray on wich you can put something else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well...
The blast in Primal Forces is actually the joint-highest damaging single-target attack in the controller epic pools (the same as Ice Blast and Hurl Boulder). With Containment I can one-shot a yellow minion. Conserve Power may be slightly useless for Controllers who have a +recovery power in their secondary, but it would be very useful for Sonics, FF etc which don't.
And as to Fire vs Psi: I'd rather have a slightly less damaging power from level 41 instead of having to wait until level 47, and being forced to take other powers to get it. Indomitable Will is pretty useless now it can no longer be made perma and I think that having Power Boost in PvP will be much more useful - it helps against all foes, not just those that can mez. -
If you're bored: ditch the Medicine and possibly the Leadership pools and get and slot up some more attacks. That way you'll have more things to do when your primary isn't needed.

if like me you want to click as little as possible and just travel (e.g. while you are building teams), then it will eventually annoy.
[/ QUOTE ]
This I don't really get... unless you take fly all the other travel powers take a fair amount of interaction to get you from A-B. It's just one extra click in a long line of clicks
[/ QUOTE ]
Except TP is the only travel power which requires a long line of clicks
Siphon Speed is fine for the lower levels, but try it against purples and you will die very easily and get very annoyed. -

Don't get Repel. All the other powers has uses.
Repel is a fun power just to run through mobs in Perez Park and see 'em bounce all over the placebut overall pretty useless + as stated before you can always just go stand in your sing if you need the melee protection.
[/ QUOTE ]
Was playing in Sirens last night and repel was pretty useful (had got it on a respec just to see how good it would be in PvP). It prevented me getting ASed which is always nice. -

MA Doesn't have any draw anim at all yet has an accuracy bonus.
IMO All attacks that have a draw weapon anim should have an accuracy bonus, even if the overall set doesn't have one.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have heard the devs put the acc buff in MA cause felt MA was underpowered at the time (issue 1,2 or 3). There had been lots of whining about MA earlier on.
Dont know if this is true.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, when the game first came out MA was rather poor so it had a 10% acc bonus. When it was changed (around I2 if I remember correctly) the bonus was lowered to 5%. -

Now, all we need is someone to do a 19,000 tests...
[/ QUOTE ]
Or do nothing. I've made two casual tests myself now, as well as played to high level and noticed no issue with accuracy.
This has come up before in another thread which I linked to in my first post here, no one who has tested it has come up with anything. The only person I've read about making a test and coming up with low numbers is Warhed and he didn't give enough details to look more closely at his numbers.
Nothing I've seen suggests there's a problem, and that could be because there isn't one.
[/ QUOTE ]
That was a joke, I thought thewould have indicated that.
No where have I said it is a problem - I have a Brute myself and have no problems with accuracy. All I did was comment on the numbers you got, which were slightly different than I expected. -

To be honest, I'd expect some of those numbers to be closer to 75% than they are.
[/ QUOTE ]
Those numbers are statistically fine, all within 1 standard deviation
[/ QUOTE ]
That's if you look at it as a whole. If you look at it power by power, some of the numbers seem a bit odd - especially Punch. Although it was used more than both Brawl and Haymaker, it has a percentage which is about 6% lower than what it should be. Over 190 tests I'd expect it to be more around 2-3% difference, which the other powers are.
[/ QUOTE ]
As others have pointed out, it's well within the margin of error you'd expect with a sample of that size.
190 tests is actually a rather small number, statistically speaking. If it were 69% after 1,900 it might be significant. 19,000 would be much better.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I do accept that - I'm no mathematician! It's just that those powers which were used less where actually much nearer to 75% than Punch.
Now, all we need is someone to do a 19,000 tests... -

I found that with my DM/regen too, most people say their end bar never goes below half way (or some such) but I found myself gasping at times. Having said that I think Focussed Accuracy is to blame, anytime I exemp below 41 I never seem to have the same problems.
Out of curiosity, is the damage from quills any good?
[/ QUOTE ]
Slotted up it's pretty decent. Useful for stacking -recharge and -speed on mobs too. -

Propel is always amusing, dispite its lack of damage.
[/ QUOTE ]It's actually the most damaging controller ST attack I can think of (not sure if spec. wounds is more or less), it got boosted around I4.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, it's more damaging that Spectral Wounds. More often resisted though. -

I didn't have enough time to explain myself in my original post.
No where am I saying that Brute accuracy is actually 50% (only Filth thinks I'm saying that, and that's him being a [removed]). -

Oh and avoid Siphon Life its pants.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a level 40 DM/Inv and use Siphon Life fairly regularly. It's useful, it heals 250 damage at 40 with 3 SO's. Not bad, and not as slow as some people seem to make out. I like it.
[/ QUOTE ]
It might be useful for /inv, but definately not for /regen. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Or Power Build Up
[/ QUOTE ]Doesn't give big enough boost IMO
[/ QUOTE ]
True, but it also affects the secondary effects of the power! You're a defender, it's not all about damage! Well...I'm not so sure about that... -
As far as I know, Fear doesn't set up Containment. Thunder Clap is a disorient and so it will set up Containment - but be aware that it's only got a low mag and will only disorient minons.

all those debuffs make me wonder if its more of a defender set than a controller, i havent had much experience of seeing earth controllers (and i have one incidentally lvl 5) but i have seen some earth controllers chuck stone cages on a group only to have the group pull out their guns and shoot them dead (not you ofc) however the animated stone is very cute and impressive.
[/ QUOTE ]
But surely the same would apply to all Controller sets which have a Group Immobilise? -
[ QUOTE ]
Its a tough choice firsty. SIPHON LIFE! why not? its the main reason im going for DM cos of
A. lots of fun powers to play
b. the siphon life which would give me a 4th heal
DM is kinda meh when it comes to real hardy attacks though i think
i have a lvl 30 katana/invul scrapper but the katana is ok but its not uber for me really.
i think having a BS/regen is in a way more professional?
maybe the way i was bought up in coh but i think lvl 50 BS/regen is VERY powerful n...yeah but i dunno if im too keen on the actual broadsword itself
i dunno i wil try the get em both to lvl 10 thing
why not get siphon life?
[/ QUOTE ]
As was said on Arena chat earlier today (if you had listened to everyone), Siphon Life isn't very useful for a /regen as it is less powerful than your regen heals and as a result isn't needed. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think it affects Regen aura, but not Recov. (At least, it doesn't boost the end recov from AM)
But Power boost affects the defense and to-hit bonus from FA, and the heals.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure it boosts the +recovery of Recovery Aura too. -
[ QUOTE ]
It is a fun idea - from a combo-building persepctive. It is not so fun in actual gameplay, and (for the dead guy) the ultimate example of bot play.
I actually did this once (played the dead guy) and it was.... you guesses it... boring me to death.
Expect this to be nerfed if it becomes widespread.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's why they use 2 computers with 2 accounts - one for the defender and the other one just for the dead player.
