I'm a seven year CoH veteran, but Monday night I completed my very first Hami Raid with my main, an Invul tank.
And boy, did I suck at it. All the mitos looked alike, I didn't know what was going on half on the time, and I definitely didn't pull my weight as a Hami tank.
But you know, it was really fun (in a 'God, I can't believe I did that' kind of way,) and very enlightening.
In particular, I'd like to thank the lead tank on the raid. (I forgot to write down his name, unfortunately, but I think there was only one Hami raid on Justice Monday night.) He/she was unfailingly polite and patient, and never once told me I was an idiot no matter how much as I felt like one.
So cheers, Justice, and thanks for giving me the opportunity to do something I've wanted to do for seven years.
But next time, maybe I'll try a scrapper. -

Are you looking for comments? If so, with this build you're going to be able to land about two attacks before your blue bar disappears. Even less than that if you have to use Dark Regen.

Quote:Yeah, I thought I recalled that GMs were NCSoft employees rather than Paragon Studios employees, but I wasn't certain they'd still be providing assistance for CoH players given the impending closure.I don't know the answer firsthand, but since the GMs work for NCSoft and not Paragon there shouldn't be any difference.
But now I have reason to hope! -
Quote:You know, various people have said this works, but I have never had it work, not even once. I've always needed to have a GM fix it. Just for yucks I tried it this time, but no luck. One thing that usually works for me is to place and then remove an aux power item like a circuit breaker, or whatever the arcane equivalent is called if you're using arcane power. Alternatively, remove and then replace one if you're maxed out.
That doesn't always fix it, but if you haven't tried that already, it usually clears it up for me. -
A couple of my bases have the annoying "rent paid up but no power and control" problem. In the past I always had to petition to get this problem fixed.
Does anyone know if GMs are still answering petitions, or did they go away when the devs did?
Thanks! -
Quote:Thanks so much, that's a big help! The post-Hami ship raids are usually announced on global chat channels "Justice For All" and/or "Justice United".
If the Hami raid fills up before you get there you'll want to keep an eye on one of those channels for the announcement that the ship raid is forming.
By way, if the Hami raid starts at 9:00 eastern, about when should I start watching for the ship raid, 9:30? 10:00 pm? -
Thanks! I'll keep my eyes open for that. I've actually never done a Hami raid, so I wouldn't mind getting a chance to try it out before the end.

Quote:Actually, I did know that. I have all the components I need, including a Notice, other than the two G'rai matter. IME, a ship raid is the quickest and most certain way to get them. You do know that you can also use the other recipes that don't require G'rai Matter, Notice of the Well or any of the Incarnate Salvage rewarded by TF's etc?
Scroll down the list and there will be another recipe you can use to create that same ability.
Most of it uses Threads and other iSalvage that can easily be gained in DA. -
I have a character that needs a couple of G'rai matter to finish up his alpha, and I know that a ship raid is a fast and easy way to get them. Are any raids planned for the next week or two?
Thanks for your help! -

Quote:Hmm, yeah, I think you need to get out more--or at least check your facts before making assumptions. Check out #5 here:Not to get political. But was wondering if the increase in healthcare cost under Obamacare would eat up the small profit CoH was making.

That is, of course, if you're treating Paragon Studies as a 'small business'. I don't think anyone has argued that the ACA is going to kill *large* businesses. -
I just sent in my request, so if you see a Laura, that's me!

Still trying to process the fact that CoH is going away. I knew it would happen someday, but I always thought there'd be more warning than this. I'm still shocked and saddened, and my kids are taking it hard, too. They're 14 and 18 now and started playing at 11 and 7, so CoH has been a big part of their lives. It just seems impossible that all the stories, all the characters, all the love and creativity people have poured into this game can just...disappear.
But I'm going to miss the Tanker forum most of all, my home away from home on the forums. There are so many great people and good friends here and on Tanker Tuesday that I'm going to miss terribly. You can be sure that I'll be at every TT I can manage until they shut the servers down. -
Quote:As others have mentioned, resistance to smashing damage isn't that much of a problem, IME.So, after raising my new Shield/Mace tank to 14, I'm seeing a few things which raise questions for me about how the character will progress.
1) I'm assuming that the enormous rise in enemy s/l resistance as you progress will eventually knock a significant chunk out of this build's overall damage in the later levels. How is the damage for a Shield/Mace tank boosted with Against All Odds if you plan on softcapping and reliably being boosted by having 16 enemies in proximity?
Quote:2) How difficult will it be to slot this character for sustainable recovery? A lot of Mace attacks have a big Endurance cost...
Quote:3) How reliable is the mitigation for Mace in the later game? Its stuns are all fairly low magnitudes, I'm aware.
Quote:4) Exactly how is Jawbreaker not one of everyone's favorite powers in the game? You uppercut someone in the face WITH A HEAVY, BLUNT OBJECT so hard that they go FLYING INTO THE AIR!
Enjoy your Mace tank--I love both of mine! -

Quote:Note Aett's "if", and that neither of us said that it was impossible to slot for both damage and healing. However, it's possible--likely even--that a player may want to slot for a set bonus (KCs, for instance) that would preclude slotting SL heavily for heal. You guys and your lack of vision *tsk tsk*.
Superior Might of the Tanker: Dmg/Rech, Acc/Dmg
Hecatomb: Dmg/Rech
Touch of the Nictus: Heal/Rech, Acc/Heal, Acc/End/Rech
As level 50 enhancements that will be:
Accuracy: 74.87
Damage: 94.56
Endurance: 42.40
Heal: 47.70
Recharge: 97.09
You also get:
4% Damage buff (and you can still get MotT's recharge bonus in another power)
35 HP for a Tanker
9% Acc -
I have two /Mace tanks, and I would NOT recommend dropping Shatter. It's got the second highest damage after Clobber, has a fairly wide and deep cone, and does very reliable KD. I'd skip Pulverize or even JB instead.
I suspect you're taking all the ST attacks to slot KCs for S/L defense, but IMO it's not worth it, the loss of AoE damage will be significant. -
Quote:I would agree with this; if you have SL in your regular attack chain, you're going to be using it frequently and whether you need a heal or not. Under those circumstances, unless you're in trouble, I'd think SL's healing would often be superfluous.Probably, yes. But if you're only going to slot for one or the other, I think damage is the way to go.
EDIT: Oops, referenced wrong primary. -
Yes, the Sutter was fun, and the Durays amazingly easy after being nuked. It was nice to be back--I've missed far too many TTs this summer!

Thanks to both of you for the explanation. I didn't realize that change was in the works for i24.

Looks good, overall. There are only a couple of things I'd recommend changing.
First, KoB isn't a good choice for a MotT set. You want something with much lower recharge so you have more chances for the resist proc to fire. I'd put it in Jab since you're not taking Punch.
Also, OwtS is overslotted, IMO, the HP bonus isn't worth spending three slots on and the extra resistance isn't that useful. I'd put the Steadfast +Def in the base slot and use the three free slots to add a slot each to Active Defense, Health, and Static Discharge. I'd slot another recharge in AD, (as it is, you'll lose most of your recharge bonuses if you exemp below 50) a Numina Heal in Health, and a fifth PB slot in SD to pick up the recharge bonus.
Other that that, I think you're good to go! -
Quote:Hyper, the Steadfast +Def IOs is a global, so the power you slot it in doesn't matter. All that matters is the level of the IO; if you exempt more than three levels below the level of your SP +def you will lose the defense bonus. And IIRC, bonuses from PVP always work, so it doesn't matter for the Glad Armor +Def either.
- If you're tossing in the two 3% Defense Uniques (Steadfast Protection and Gladiator's Armor), allot them early on in the build to prevent exemping out of it.
That doesn't mean it's not a good idea to slot them early, however, since if you do you'll have benefit of the defense bonus while leveling.
