Now if you are simply asking that Merits be a tradable resource, or even trade-within-account, I am sorry, but that's not going to happen. Characters of different levels earn Merits at different rates. Merits are supposed to streamline the reward process for that character, and that's not going to be changing any time soon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks for the clarification about this, recent posts made me doubt future merit status. I get the reason behind it. But the end result is: the funnest part of CoX died for me with merits. I rarely play alts anymore. The only thing that is worth it is getting on my merit main and do SF/TF's for merits.

When you think about it, I have not created new alts I played since i13. After all, why bother anymore? If I want to deck out a new brute with IOs, it makes more sense to get all the IOs on my merit main and transfer IOs. But then again, by the time I got enough merits to deck out a second toon on my main... why would I actually create the planned toon? nothing really exciting to do with him that's left except level him up real fast to levels at which he can use merits. And earning merits by playing him in the first place is terribly inefficient.

So while the disparity between merit earning time between chars is a reason not to render merits intra-account, the sheer fact that it exists renders merit earinng on anything less than the optimal toon pointless, thus taking the fun out of creating alts for me.

    Over the weekend I posted:

    [ QUOTE ]
When people play your arcs, tickets earned that way go into a pool.

You can then claim tickets out of that pool onto any character.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And a few of you said "Please let Merits work the same way".

I don't think a few of you understood me correctly the first time.

    >>When other people play your arcs.<<

The idea is that, since creating MA content is account-wide (anything you write can be "published from" any character on your account), that the tickets generated from other people go into a pool. You can then claim tickets out of that pool on any character on your account.

HOWEVER, when you PLAY Mission Architect content, tickets you earn are exactly like Merits. They are earned ON that character, and can not be traded.

Merits already work like this, and there is no correlation to the account-based publishing for Merits to "work the same way" for.

Now if you are simply asking that Merits be a tradable resource, or even trade-within-account, I am sorry, but that's not going to happen. Characters of different levels earn Merits at different rates. Merits are supposed to streamline the reward process for that character, and that's not going to be changing any time soon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So, then, who do we complain to when 'streamlining' means grinding through arcs over and over, ad nauseum, to get enough merits on one character to purchase a set we USED to be able to purchase directly for a (usually) nominal amount of influence/infamy?

Cuz, ya see, that's my whole issue with the merits process. Less stick, more carrot, PLEASE.

Honestly all the vet badges show to me is how old your computer is. If you are near 60 month then seriously find a new game.
There are far too many good games in this world to spend 5 years playing the same one. Especially one that hasn't aged that well.

I love this game don't get me wrong, but it's not good enough to be played (i.e. paid for) 5 years straight.

How would a vet badge in any way be relevant to the age of a computer?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly this is my 3rd computer, and second laptop
    i started coh on a 1.6 gz pentium 4
now im rocking a 2.1 ghz duel core laptop

    I didn
t upgrade for COH but just cause you upgrade doesnt mean you give up whats fun.

Afterall people still play Diablo 1 and StarcrAFT 1, and well Warcraft 1 and 2

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I give a double /FAIL on the previous poster's comment. I've actually shied away from other games to keep playing this one, punching in 4.5 years currently. This game just keeps me coming back for more.

I even try out new games now and again-they just don't seem like as much fun to me.

I figure, do what makes *you* happy. If you like variety, great, more power to you. I do, but I also like doing what I think is fun-for 4.5 years now, this game has been fun to me, and it still is. So, for *me* and my $15 a month, I'll keep right on playing, tyvm.

    Poster: EvilGeko
Q: What about the market? Do you care about the players who enjoy that aspect of the game? Do you have any plans for how to address the supply issues in the market that this system will cause for Pool C and D drops?

A: We feel that players will take that chance on the random roll tables for that chance at the reward they want. There will always be that temptation to roll on the Pool C rewards 12 times instead of buying that one shiny IO. If a player doesn't get what they want, they can post these items on the markets. Also consider that before only players running Task Forces and Strike Forces were contributing Pool C and D items to the market, now even solo/casual players will be able to do so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with Pool D. That's a rational decision. Pool C is a fool's errand and that will become clear to people soon.

But respectfully, you didn't answer the questions. Do you care about people who play the market as part of their fun in the game? Do you have a plan if you're wrong and the Pool C market dries up?

    [ QUOTE ]
Additionally, I've heard a number of players refer to the Merit Reward System as a reduction to rewards. I'd like to remind players that all but a handful of tasks in the game had their rewards reduced, however the majority of tasks in the game have had their rewards significantly increased and that now story arcs give players a chance at earning rewards that might otherwise be unattainable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, you gave miniscule rewards on story arcs (only the owner), while making some of the main supply sources in the game worth less than a random roll.

People are saying that it's a reduction in rewards, because it is. Return the random roll as a choice to all TFs and watch people magically stop saying that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    QFT.

Merits is gonna nuke the market, and y'all are gonna have to end up going back to retweak this anyway. Why not just do it now and save everyone the headache and bellyaching?
  7. [ QUOTE ]
well something i suggested is that instead of 1 random recipe at the end of a tf you get the choice of 1 of 4 recipes,i really dont like the idea of extra rewards for creators of popular misson, too easy to abuse, so now instead of getting spam selling us influnce, we will get some saying for the small sum of $19.95, we will give you x number of positive reviews for your misson

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, this worries me, too. And I'm not sure there'd be a good way of counteracting it.

think we will get credit for the raids, TF etc we already completed?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    No. Absolutely not.

    Wanna know why?

BECAUSE YOU ALREADY GOT A REWARD, that's why!

Yeesh. THINK, people. Just for a moment. Please.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had posed the same question earlier-but I think I was mis-thinking the 'merit rewards' idea. I was thinking of them in terms of a badge, as we often get those for completing certain tf's. Now I'm getting that they are more like Rikti Merits...where you trade in a bunch for a goodie. THEN, I can understand why we wouldn't get them retroactively, as you are correct...we've already received an award.
  9. I skimmed through 6+ pages of 'woo boy' to get to some realistic feedback. Here's my concerns:

    1. Merits for tf's to get rewards-any CHANCE that might be retroactive? One of my 50's is decked out with EVERYTHING, and that would be pretty cool. I'd hate to have to repeat things. Sorta.

    2. Power proliferation...I'm sure there will be SOME more in here, other than 'pain whosamawhatsit.' I want to plan my alts ahead...I'm sure more info will be coming down the pipeline.

    3. I'm assuming that F&F beta is already in progress on TrainingRoom01, as they shut it down late last week. I imagine closed 'normal' beta can't be too far behind.

    4. Dayjob=badge proliferation. Meh. Whatever. Let me see what the bonuses are, THEN maybe I'll get excited. However, it DOES reward people with a lot of alts, which is me.

Looks....intriguing. I cautiously wait for more info before casting positive or negative judgment.
  10. It may be 3 years old, but I still have it in my favs.
    Some truthiness just never cacks.
  11. Just wanted to say-been back redside for the last 3-4 weeks after a long blueside run. Nearly 4 years in here.

I found the article on the lower-level vill content very interesting here. I know I can probably find all this info elsewhere, but I usually lack the patience to search it all out. I had completely forgotten about that temp stealth power, and I didn't even know about that unlockable contact.

Any way we could see an article specifically on unlockables? Was there already one that I missed? I really dig content, but I guess I usually just do the obvious contacts. Maybe one article for redside unlocks, another for blue? ARE there any blue unlockables?

Anyway, I really dug the article, and will use the info on my currently lvl7 AR/thermal corruptor, Searcy600. Thanks!

    Vengeance

    [ QUOTE ]

For the PvE folks reading this, no, Vengeance is not meant to stack in PvE, either and the change, when it happens, will apply in those encounters as well.

See, I'll be okay with this PvP change affecting PvE, so long as it means that the fargin' Nemesis vengeance won't stack. Please say it's so?

    I do this;

    1 - 6 (sometimes 8) run with a sewer team.
8 - 15 run scanners or regular missions
    15 - 22 faultline arcs
    22 - 25 Normal missions or scanners
    25 - 32 Croatoa arcs

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd supplant the 22-25 run with the first part of the Striga content, for the temp powers. Warwolf whistles and Wedding Bands come in handy down the road!
  15. For soloing in PvE, I'm having mixed feelings about the post-32 world, after multiple respecs. I love the kd of Force Bubble, but its radius is just far too large. It just draws SO much aggro to me in solo PvE! But Repulsion Field's pulses are just spaced a bit too far apart to make it as useful as I'd like in PvE solo stuff...so I'm kinda torn. But I like them both, you just have to be CAREFUL in how you use them.

    Carry on, my wayward sons!
  16. Uhm...wow. Just....wow.

Thanks for the update, but would the cape crash cause non cape wearers to crash? I stopped wearing one and was crashing quite a bit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most likely, the cape crash is caused by the client program trying to render the capes and getting hung up on the geometry between the cape and the character. From what I've seen, it shouldn't matter if you're the cape wearer or someone else is. The client (I believe) doesn't see any difference between your toon and other people's toons, other than the fact that your camera angle is always relative to your own character. So a cape crash can be caused by you wearing a cape, or any other on-screen character wearing one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wait, wait, let me get clear on this-so what you're saying is, even if I'm playing solo on a non-caped toon, that when I 'see' a toon with a cape on my screen, I'm potentially at risk for a client crash (as my comp tries to cope with the goofy geometry stuff)?

If that's so, it might explain the sheer randomness of my crashing a bit more...jumping through a zone, there's a caped hero in my LOS, BAM, crash. Moving through a mish, there's a caped/trenched/winged MOB, BAM, crash. Might make the whole thing make a bit more sense, then.
  19. I've been playing a few lowbies (less-than-20) recently...so I've been spending a lot of time in Perez, Boomtown, and such.

I've run across the Kraken in the N area inside the wall of Perez Park 3x now...also, like one of the other posters, been playing for over 2 years-came across him ONCE in that entire time in Perez. So good change there!

Babbage? He was already spawning fairly often, but it was in the faaaaaar N central area of Boomtown. Not too many people trudge up there, since Boom can be kind of hard to get around in sometimes. Not so sure if an increase in his spawn rate was REALLY critical or not. Besides, you can always get his badge from the Synapse TF. Meh.

As to the others-if anything I think Paladin is spawning too OFTEN. Also seeing multiple occurrences of him in KR lately, in the far N area just below the elevated central highway area, off to the W side. I'll report back on Adamastor once I get up there a bit more and wander around in DA. I have been hearing multiple reports of Jurassik being up on Guardian from my sg mates. Again, appears to be having the desired effect, heroside.

Can't comment on villainside, don't play there atm due to Grandville lag on my DECENTLY EQUIPPED, NON-LOWEND machine.

:THREAD HIJACK ON: Just to put a little monkey wrench in the works here-after having fought several of these guys now, in the I7/I8 world, I still think y'all need to revisit and revamp a little of the regen rates. Perhaps, if coding would allow, try to tweak it downwards a touch on the guys that are SERIOUSLY damage resistant already, and leave it the same on the ones that are not. I think this would better 'balance' the AV/GM experience for players. :THREAD HIJACK OFF:

But as to simple spawn rates-yup, appears to be having the desired effect. Good work on that aspect, carry on!

  22. A fairly good guide-my points on Regen (I run a claws/regen stalker, late teens, and have run a spines/regen scrapper to 50 in the I4-I7 world):

    1. Instant Healing-shift it to 3 recharges, with any extra slots with heals if you find you have them to spare. Doesn't really need the healing enhances on its own, though, to be VERY effective anyways.

    2. Your comments on flight are a bit confusing-6 slot it? Honestly, even with the recent buffs, flight is slow. However, I find Air Superiority to be a nice controller-ish power, and helpful to a low-HP stalker. I think a decent combination set for travel would include Swift (3 runspeed slots to move through missions faster-just take the inherent Flight bonus), Air Superiority (to get towards Flight), then Flight (3 slotted with speed enhancers). I think the flight speed bonuses from Swift and Quickness were really targeted at helping out Hover, as it got borked by ED for a lot of people. You can still hit the cap pretty easily on Flight with SO's and 3 slots, I think.

    3. Completely agree on the Res-I mean, what the f? Why take it?

    4. I disagree on Resilience. I'm a big fan of anything that offers up Smashing/Lethal resistance-it can really take the edge off of a LOT of damage in the game, and make you that much more survivable overall. And it's an AUTO power, so you don't need to expend End on it like Tough. 10% may not be much, but think about the higher end of the game, and 10% can become a lot (10% of 100 points, eh, not much-10% of 1000 points of damage, getting to be a lot!).

Just my thoughts, YMMV. But I like the guide, and will take your thoughts into consideration as I progress through the claws powers.

Bow Breaker does not exist from what I have seen, and it is not required for the Force of Nature accolade.

    [/ QUOTE ]

yes, but did they type Bow Breaker on the Prima guide meaning to type something else (such as Villain)? or are there only 6 requirements for Force of Nature? The Guide is obviously in error, but we're not sure how.
Basically... has anyone out there actualy analyzed the requirements for that accolade? (or, could a Dev give a quick answer to save everyone the trouble?)

  24. My only other problem with this is that I tend to like to move quickly throughout my mission maps. Any of my toons without swift, slotted, feel like they're moving through molasses in January in a mish. I do love this idea...but it unfortunately can't address that problem (unless you ALSO take Swift a touch after this and slot it as well-and that eats up a valuable power choice and slots in combo with Hurdle ).
