SS/Shield not benefiting much from a kin? Are you serious?
-
Has anyone checked out this video?

The future of Aion looks awesome. DX10 support. -
Yea Kahlan have done a solo LRSF before. I nearly completed it solo, had 4 of the heroes left in the last mish, but it can be just too unpredictable.
Anyways, back on topic, congratz guys. -
Spines/Fire isn't as bad against AV's as you may think, just as long as you make good use of Burn. Actually, you can make a Spines/Fire quite survivable, but not as tough as some other secondaries.
Just the other day I brought mine along on a LGTF and we were on the honeree. There were about 3 or 4 other Scrappers on the team and only one support toon, a Cold. The whole team dropped except the Tank and me, eventually the Tank dropped and I was still standing for a little while until the honeree finally took me down. -
My last post was about your previous build. The defense is pretty decent, but after a couple applications of vengeance it will be meaningless. Your recharge is certainly good, although you can use a little more HP IMO. More HP = more resists, more regen, better heal. For Rage you can 3 slot it with Guassians for some more HP. Some of your end problems maybe from over using Rage, stacking Rage = more crashes, which = more end problems.
Generally, I don't stack Rage unless I really need the extra damage. Sometimes the extra damage bonus isn't needed and thus can actually be slowing you down from the extra crashes. What I usually do is count the number of Footstomps it takes to kill a mob and count how many punches for my ST attack chain for bosses to see if the extra damage is worth it. -
infernal, your build is cheap and certainly can upgrade to purples, but you capped some recharge set bonuses which doesn't make any sense. As an SS/Fire, especially for farming, recharge is key. Also, the little amount of defense the two of you have won't make any difference for farming nemesis.
GR, if you wanna save some endurance and a slot, you can take the Def/End out of Weave and just don't toggle the power while you're farming. Another thing that might be causing you some trouble is the lack of KB protection. One -KB IO is usually enough, but if you're focusing on farming nemesis you'll need 3 to counter the Fakes staff attacks.
Personally, I wouldn't skip Burn. I don't use it for farming Liberate because you can't lock down the whole mob with Elec Fences and I don't want to lock down the Fakes because the KD in a lot of your attacks will prevent them from using PFF if you time them right. Burn is great damage for AV's and works best when you herd a mob into a tight space e.g. nemesis platform.
Other than that, your build isn't that much different than mine, similar recharge and HP numbers. Although I do have a significant amount more recovery bonuses. I don't have much problems farming +2/x8, you just need to learn the timing on your powers. My build is floating around in one of these threads if you wanna take a look. -
It really depends, for a farming build I'd rather have more damage. Though, I slotted Grav Anchor in mine for the recharge.

Quote:I'm not much of a PvP'er, but I have many toons fully IO'd/purp'd out. Like other said, skill > IOs. Of course IOs help, but if you suck at playing a fully IO'd toon then it wouldn't even matter much.3rd part of your paragraph is wronge Cat, your title itself is directed at new pvp'ers.
How to detect vets? Not necessary! What you should be concerned about is the competitors themselves. When they arrive right click them and check INFO to see if they have tons of set bonuses, if they do then they should be in a different category from those who don't. Really simple to do.
2 competitions - vet (with set bonuses) and new (those without set bonuses), simple. -
Alright here's my build. I didn't go all out on just recharge since a Kin is pretty self sufficient with recharge buffs, being able to stack Siphon Speed multiple times. With just one application of SS and Hasten up, RoA is down to 17.5 seconds. If I stack it a few more times I'm guessing it'd be down to around 15 seconds. I'll have to check in game.

Well I built it to be self sufficient and the only team power I had to sacrafice was ID, I couldn't fit it in the build and keep everything I want. I'll post the build when I get home.
-
With my Arch/Kin I mainly focused on getting defense, ranged specifically. I managed to get 38% to ranged, 40% energy, and about 30% S/L. I could've reached the softcap for ranged, but then I would have had to sacrafice some other set bonuses like recharge, I have like 63% global recharge. With Siphon Speed stacked I'm able to reach permahasten, so RoA recharges fairly fast.
Overall, I like the build, the only downside to an arch/kin is redraw hell. Since Kin is such a clicky set, you'll need to redraw your bow a lot. I can post my build if you like, can't atm because I'm in class. -
I haven't calculated in a while, but this is with the nemesis platform before the difficulty options. I don't have the inf/hour, but I can give you the amount of critters.
7-8 minutes per run, so I'll say 7.5 for the sake of calculating. 2 bosses, 250 critters total. 8 * 250 = 2000.
So, 2000 critters per hour on relentless with my SS/Fire running the old nemesis platform. Before i15 my Fire/Psi could easily kill 3000+ critters per hour running the nemesis platform. -
Kin and Cold are both very good with a Brute. But, since you plan on playing both, Sonic is a good choice for the shields and the ease of toggling Disruption Field and not having to worry about it again.
-
I won't be able to make it to this one, going to a party.
With that said, good luck on the raid, I'm sure you won't need it. -
Quote:Yes, I get runners with my spines/fire with the most from demon farm. Although, the demons primarily shoot from range so I usually don't farm them, but farm council empire. I usually kill them pretty fast and the slows make sure they don't get away far.Apologies if this is getting a bit off-topic, but for the folks who mentioned spines/fire scrappers... do you get a lot of runners? Because mine gets a ton, even when I don't use Burn, even when I'm not at the aggro cap. I've had mobs run halfway across a map and come back almost a minute later, and frankly it drives me crazy. So much so that I came over to the tanker board looking for farm build advice. :P I actually was thinking of a SD/fire tank (nice damage boost to all attacks), although I'm seeing mixed opinions in this thread. What makes fire/fire better?
On topic, SD/Fire is pretty good, I have a pimped out one. It deals a respectable amount of damage....for a tank I mean. fire/fire is good because of the damage aura and fiery embrace effects all of your attacks for the full duration because it's all fire damage. Though, I stick to my original statement, tanks can farm, but you're better off with a troller/blaster/scrapper.
Although, I'm curious Ghost Ripper. If you already have more than one farming toon on each side, why do you wish to build a farming tank? I dislike tanks in general. In the age of IO's IMO for 99.99% of the content in this game a tank isn't needed and I'd much rather have something else on my team that brings more to the table. With that said, I rolled my SD/Fire for concept reasons and made sure I took a combo that dealt a decent amount of damage. -
A defense based secondary would work well because of all the -tohit from /dark.
-
There are a lot of questionable slotting and power choices. End mod in Transfusion? Assault? Damage IO in Fire Blast? One slotted Hasten? Along with that, soloing 54's isn't very effective, you'd be better off fighting 52's or 53's.
-
You're generally not going to find a ton of people walking around in the zones no matter where you go, the game is heavily instance based.
-
The most I've gotten on one of my Doms was 128%. Of course I could've gotten even more if I really wanted, I've seen builds with around 150%.
-
Roll a Spines/Fire Scrapper, you'll be better off than a tank if you build it right. I know someone will comment saying they're squishy...maybe, I can farm +4x8 Demons, although I usually don't because 54's aren't worth it solo IMO.
-
Quote:I had a similar experience with this, but instead of using my SS/Fire Brute, I used my Spines/Fire Scrapper. Someone was bragging how he was one of the best farmers with his Fire/SS Tank and I commented saying lolTanks at farming. Sure, they can farm, anything pretty much can, but it won't be the most efficient. He challenged me and I told him I'd gladly embarass him with my Spines/Fire, but this player still insisted his Tank is better saying that he has a Spines/Fire also.I had been reading this thread and I was jut hoping someone would bring villains to the table.
I wholy agree with this. My decked out SS/Fire brute PWNS. I know what the poster I quoted feels like. In fact, I do not doubt that villain players with decked out specialty brute builds for farming will tell you they can compete with the best of them.
Just recently, in Freedom server, I was out doing some mish's in my arc when I see the following "LF anyone to duel farm...." , from a "super pimped-out" Fire/Kin (according to him)... then--and I can't remember how it got to this--but he stated that he challenged anyone to outspeed him and out farm him. At this point, sensing the arrogance, I felt the urge to try to humble this man down a bit since I was getting a little annoyed. I put on broadcast "I would put my SS/Fire/Elec brute any day of the week over your Fire/Kin, and on maps of lvl 54's all Bosses and LTs--NO MINIONS." He said, he would crush my brute.
I simply said I would see him in RWZ, in AE building and we could do it. We had witnesses who wanted to watch. Let me shorten this a bit. My brute was ahead of the Fire/Kin in the farm and I would have finished faster than him, but he died. When you die, there is no point to continue as the advantage in time would be too much. I never brag about my brute being able to outperform anyone, except in this win. I won but I did not rub it in. He was a gentleman and gave me my props.
Full bar of FURY is a HUGE damage bonus, and FURY belongs to brutes only. Double stacked rage on a brute with full fury, then you ad Fiery Embrace... the numbers are RIDICULOUS for brutes damage... 454 dmg on a lvl 54 boss from KO blow... is SICK, notice boss, not minion or LT. Foot stomp at 260 dmg or so to the group of lvl 54s. The insane amount of damaga of burn while they are in electric fences from a brute with full fury, fiery embrace, and rage.... you got to see it to believe it.
To the OP: If you want to give melee a try for farming, I am honest, brutes are BRUTAL, just awesome SMASH. Nothing smashes like a brute.
Name of brute: Abysmal-Terror.
This happened before boss farming was nerfed, so we were farming 52 bosses. I herded a mob and killed it and he was pretty impressed. Then, he herded a mob at the same time as me and brought it to the same spot, the tank dropped I stayed alive to finish off both mobs. So not only was I more damaging, I could survive more than that tank. -
Quote:Permadom is possible without Hasten, I had it on both my Fire/Psi and Mind/Fire. The minimum global recharge is something like 122.5%. Also, I wouldn't drop Fiery Embrace, it's a great damage boost since you'll mostly be dealing fire damage and it brings up Blaze's damage close to 400.I might be wrong but i dont think perma dom is possible without hasten. Even with all your recharge...i still dont think its enough for perma. Get rid of firey embrace or manuevers and move some slots around and you will easily have perma hasten and what they call "teir 3" perma dom.
I'm in class right now, so I can't view the data chunks, but yes you can only have 5 of one specific set bonus. Although, the exception to this rule is the LotG 7.5, it is its own set bonus. Mind/Fire and Mind/Energy are both great combos, my Mind/Fire is one of my favorite toons. I built mine for mostly ST damage with my only real AoE attack is Ball Lightning.
Since I can't see the build, I don't see what controls you're missing in the Mind/Fire build. Though, I can say from experience Total Domination is certainly skippaple, long recharge AoE hold, I haven't missed it or feel like I need it. Dominate, Levitate,Mesmerize and Confuse are my ST controls. Mass Hypnosis, Mass Confusion and Terrify are my AoE controls, with these I already have more controls than I need. -
Yea, you usually don't see trials when a game first releases unless it's hurting for subs.
-
Quote:Like I said eariler, Fire/Psi's are still very well viable. I had one, played it for a while even after i15, but decided to strip it because I didn't find it as fun to play. I switched to my SS/Fire as my main farmer because I try to farm with what's most efficietn and IMO, SS/Fire takes the crown. It depends...on what you're farming. My fire/psi still handles the "snake" boss farm just fine. Thats a farm that many brutes have trouble with, due to all the toxic damage. I have to admit if things start to go south, its harder to salvage with a dom. But If the dom has some good support they can farm just as well as a brute with the same support. Fire/Psi/Dark or Fire/Psi/Mu are still a damn good farming builds.
Wait a minute..I take that back..Doms suck, Brutes are better..go away please nothing to see here.
I'd like to try the snake farm with my Brute, can stack Healing Flames 4 times so toxic damage wouldn't be much of a problem. -
Misanthropist is the name, I should be on later tonight. Haven't been playing much lately, Modern Warfare 2 is taking up most my gaming time.
