I think the suppression is only if the power is used every 5 seconds or less in which FS is the perfect power to slot it in. On my high recharge SS/Fire the proc goes very often. With Hasten, the recharge of Foot Stomp is something like 5.7 seconds or so and becomes 4.5 seconds when the proc goes off. I've had the proc go off 3-4 times in a row for the full duration.

I'd also like to note that it's not hard to get perma-Dull Pain if you decide to go regen.
-
Like others said both are good and they do different things. Sonic/Sonic is able to put out a TON of -res, would certainly be good for tearing AV's apart.
-
There is some scatter with Spines, but the mobs usually die before they can get far enough away while farming. This is farming +2/x8 most of the time. It may become a problem when you step up the difficulty to +4s, but that's a non-issue while farming because it's not as efficient.
Although, I love your idea of adding taunt to damage auras. Don't see why people think it's a bad idea. What's so bad about keeping foes IN your damage aura? -
It is possible to softcap S/L defense with the Fire epic, but you will most likely gimp your other powers in the process. As to how, just find IO sets that have defense bonuses, it's really that simple. Plot out your build in mids if you haven't already. If you really wanna softcap, I would just go Earth Mastery because it's much easier to do and you won't gimp yourself in the process.

It's pretty funny that she goes missing when this event is suppose to happen. But props to the rest of AOW for stepping up and trying to make this event go on.
-
That's interesting, I'd like to see the result since /SD can be squishy without its softcap defense and /FA has an extra mitigation tool, Burn. I would help out, but don't have either of those toons.
-
I see many people repeatedly saying how /FA is so squishy. With IOs you can make it pretty tough even if you can't softcap its defense. It can certainly hold its own with defense backed up with decent resists and a great self heal. My Spines/Fire can stand up pretty well to +2/8 mobs. I actually was farming aggro capped 52 bosses with mine before it was nerfed.

Quote:You can actually make Dark Armor be pretty damn tough with IO investment. I'm working on a Claws/Dark Brute build and it has near softcap melee and S/L defense, backed with decent resists and a monster heal that brings you back to full HP with only 2 targets. Leveling one up can be a little challenging though, it's squisher than most sets and has high end cost.I didn't read the whole thread but does Spine/Dark Armor have any hope of mowing down vast amount of mobs in a non-specialized arena (I'm thinking just plowing through Dark Astoria, missions set to +3 players +2 level, etc)?
Also, what APP do people like for their farming Scrappers?
I didn't have room for APP on my Spines/Fire because I built towards defense so that limited the slots I could use, but it's pretty sturdy. Although, I would certainly go Blaze Mastery if I had room, for Fireball goodness. Body Mastery is also good for Energy Torrent. -
Are you limited to just one of them? On my SS Brute I have the Force Feedback and Armageddon procs slotted in FS.
-
I agree and prefer to farm with a Scrapper to a Fire/Kin. But there is no way you're killing a whole +2/8 mob with SD + LR, unless you're not killing the bosses that is.
-
The FF+ rech proc won't go off everytime. It goes off frequently though, like every 2 or 3 times. This is from playing a SS/Fire Brute where Foot Stomp hits its target cap pretty much everytime. Granted, I've had the proc go off 3 or 4 times in a row, but that's usually not the case.
As for using Fireball, I think Silas is saying that it would probably better to use one nuke on a mob and finish them off with aditional AoE's such as fireball, then nuke the next mob and so on. Instead of using SD and LR on one mob. -
Yea, I'm working on leveling a Mind/Earth. Should be pretty fun.
-
I agree, If I were to ever use an elec/shield for farming I would probably only use one nuke per mob. That way your damage spikes are more consistent rather than only using them every 30 seconds or so. It all comes down to playstyle and preference.
-
You forgot to add that free popcorn is given out!
-
No, the reason I was saying that as a bad point is because SC and LR are both on a long recharge so you can't consistently use them where as you can TS and SB very often to wipe out mobs. While, you can SC + LR a mob to wipe them out, but then that leaves the next mob with not so stellar AoE, as to why I suggest picking up an epic AoE blast for some extra damage.
Just my personal preference, I'd rather have consistent AoE damage rather than burst AoE damage. As to why I prefer a SS/Fire or SS/Shield Brute to a Elec/Shield Brute villain side. -
No, Doms do have the DPS, but it can take quite a while to take down certain AV's. Holding them doesn't change their regen, we're just holding them so they can't attack us back. Otherwise you're not going to survive against a lot of AV's without heavy inspiration use.
-
Spines/Fire is great and can dish out a lot of damage, so that's my choice from experience. If you think it's too squishy while farming, you're doing it wrong, seriously.
Electric/Shield is good too, but I think it relies on the 2 nukes to be effective. Although, electric has a bunch of extra AoE powers, overall IMO I think they're subpar because you can't leverage them effectively to hit a lot of enemies at once. Jacobs Ladder - not going to hit many foes with it. Thunderstike - again small PBAoE radius. Chain Induction is the only other attack you can fire away and not have to worry about it. So, my suggestion is if you decide to go Electric/Shield is to pickup Blaze Mastery if you can fit it into your build. -
Quote:Agreed, with the proc in a damage aura it only has a chance to go off every 10 seconds, while if you move it into an actual attack like SB, it will have a chance to go off every time you use that power. Although I don't see you wanting to do that and lose melee defense.just wanted to chime in... dont put the expensive 33% purple dmg proc in a dmg toggle. you will see a lot more use of it in spine burst. not sure how that would affect you build in the end. procs in dmg auras are fun for spines/dark, but that one in particular is killer in a click type pbaoe where you have more control over when it checks it's chance to proc.

Unfortunately I have no reason to take advantage of this opportunity.
And Bronx, where the hell has Kadra been? Haven't seen her on in a long time, granted I haven't been on much myself.
