For a Super Strength Brute I would put the procs in Haymaker and/or Punch. KO Blow has too long of a recharge to really matter. Another wonderful idea is adding Gloom to your ST attack chain, it will greatly enhance your DPS and you will be very happy with it, another great place to put a proc. On my SS/Fire I can pretty much alternate Haymaker and Gloom with only a small time gap so I use Punch too if needed.
And there's a difference in slotting a purple set in Brawl on an Ill/Emp than a SS/WP, even though I'd personally wouldn't slot it up in either. -
Quote:And we managed to get enough people for another raid last night.Zone was full before the raid time so there was a lot of interest.
So much that there was another raid Saturday also. Thanks for letting me in on that one.
(Once the rain stops I'll start on the DE in my back yard.)

I give you +style points for using Soul Mastery, Gloom is legit.

I wouldn't pick up Assault since you have Fulcrum Shift and Siphon Power. I built my Arch/Kin a bit differently, while focusing on mainly ranged defense, I ended up with about 38% ranged, 41% nrg, and 30% S/L. Although to reach these numbers I had to sacrifice some powers like ID. I probably could've reached the softcap to ranged if I sacrificed more, but using a purple inspiration now and then seemed like the better option.

Yea I really shouldn't add up mine either, I don't wanna know the thousands of hours I've wasted my life with this game lol.
Although I randomly just discovered last night that I've logged in around 550 hours in my SS/Fire. Also, I remember how much I had on my first ever created character, a MM (main) on my currently inactive account. Was somewhere above 800 hours and I haven't even played that toon in god knows how long. -
I certainly wouldn't skip the patron AoE especially on a Brute that only has one AoE from their primary. If you were planning on using Burn for the AoE damage, I think Dark Obliteration would be a better choice, it's more reliable AoE damage. I only find burn worth it for AV's and such and when mobs are herded up close together and they're all immobilized, even then it can only damage 5 targets at a time iirc. Also, Darkest Night doesn't work as good for resistance based toons, sure there is the damage debuff, but you personally won't get as much use out of the tohit debuff portion unless you are building with defense in mind.
-
I lost any interest in trying STO after hearing that you have to pay extra to play certain races. A meaningful cash shop at launch does not sit well in my book especially when it's selling content that should be free after paying for the box + monthly subscription.
Don't mean to derail the thread....I hope you're enjoying yourself. -
Like others said, I'd build for recharge to bring Healing Flames up quicker, HP which is practically adding resistance to all damage types, and/or melee and S/L defense.

Quote:Dual builds only help out that way if you don't have all of those expensive IO's. Otherwise, if I want to test out any expensive builds without changing my current one, I just copy the character over to the test server.I realize that it's not quite the same thing as a Dynamic Respec, but isn't that what having a second build is for? You can make pretty much the same character, but with one or two powers different. Not trying to shoot down anyone's idea, but the Devs have addressed this issue somewhat already.
You may not be able to IO them the same, or it might take longer to do it properly, but it's better than nothing. Personally I've never used the feature, so I don't know how useful or not it actually is, but isn't Dual Builds an answer to this question? -
I don't see why you wouldn't want Hasten on a permadom build. You're just making permadom a hell of a lot more expensive to achieve. By taking Hasten you won't need nearly as much global recharge, aim for around 106% for permahasten and that would actually yield you about 45% more recharge in the end. Now, what to swap out for Hasten is another question.
-
I would just be happy if you could run the respec trials as many times as you like to earn a respec. Don't see any reason why that would be a bad thing.
-
I'm not saying you didn't do it, but I agree with Necrotech...screenshots would be nice.
-
Whenever I played my Fire/Kin, I found it to be a waste of time SB'ing my imps, even when it enhanced their recharge.
-
I'm not sure exactly, so you might be right about that lol. But, it still stands that we didn't have enough -regen to do it without them without any legit debuffs.
-
That is the same guy, he posted the farm map he uses and that's what you described. I'm still not impressed, he tailored a farm to his strengths, so what? I did his farm on my Spine/Fire Scrapper, when so many complain about the squishiness of it. So, I'm only guessing the Tank that tried it isn't the best player.
-
I know this has been done before by none other than Kahlan and Horus, but earlier me and Tony (@FarmTank) completed a Duo STF. The team consisted of me on my Shield/Fire Tank and Tony on his Kin/Sonic Defender.
So, the first four mission went really smooth and we had no trouble with them. With that said, the last mission was hard and took a lot of trial and error, specifically, the first tower. Since our team was setup like it was, we got the help of shivans and nukes for the lvl 54 AVs. Our makeup just quite wasn't enough to counteract their crazy regen.
Ghost Widow, Mako, Black Scorpion, and Scirocco weren't any problems for us. Taking down the first tower was the real challenge and it took a few attempts to get it right. Since I was defense based, we decided to take down the blue tower first to get rid of LR's massive to-hit buff. Some of the failed attempts at taking it down was mostly because of careless mistakes.
The first try was without any temp powers, just inspirations, but it ended as a failure and since it was late we decided to try it another day. The second attempt we came prepared with nukes and shivans, the reason it didn't happen this time was because of a stupid mistake of summoning the shivans and dropping the bio nukes too close to the tower. In result the shivans aggroed early and we ended up dying. Now, this is the funny part. When we tried another day, we did the same thing with shivans and nukes and actually managed to take down the blue tower, moved on to the red tower, but ended up dying. Coming back from the hospital, Tony noticed a repairman running towards the tower we already destroyed so he went to attack him, but it was too late and the repairman fixed the blue tower as he died.
At this point, we were pretty frustrated. After restocking on inspirations, we decided to try at the blue tower again without any nukes and surprisingly we took it down with the help of shivans. The rest of the towers went down easily because I was able to stand up to Recluse without much support at this point. Even though we didn't need to, we used shivans on some of the other towers just for times sake. Now all of the towers are down and Recluse seems like a pushover, until he summons Banes. The Banes themselves weren't the trouble, but the shivans AI was. For some reason after Recluse summoned his Banes, the shivans decided to run away and stop attacking Recluse. In result, we couldn't take him down without the -regen from the shivans.
Finally, once again we restocked on bio and chemical nukes. We waited to the point Recluse summoned his Banes to summon new shivans and use the nukes and from there on, he dropped REALLY fast. What I found weird is after summoning new shivans, the ones already up stayed up. Anyways, as soon as Recluse went down and the reward screen came up, my game instantly crashed so I couldn't get a screenshot of the completion window or Recluse's corpse. I thought Tony took a screenshot with the completion window, he must of clicked out of it, but he did get a shot of the body. Overall, it was a fun experience and learned a lot from it. Now here are some random screenshots of the TF and some youtube links.

The only time I think taunt is needed in this game is for Hami raids, keeping yellow mitos aggro etc. MoLRSF? Please, it's not needed for that, hell I've done them without any Brutes on the team before.
-
I agree with everything Silas said. From experience, you won't get as much use out of Burn as you think while farming this map. It's better used if you herd mobs in tight spaces, immoblize then use Burn, that way you'll keep the whole mob in the burn patch, but that's not viable here. You're not going to get a whole mob immobilzed with Fences before they're already dead unless you're lucky.
Do not skip Haymaker, I think you're making a terrible mistake on that one. Farming isn't just about AoE's when you put bosses in the mix. A solid ST attack chain is needed to farm efficiently.
No, 8 pts. of kb protection isn't enough to stand up to fakes, a while ago I only had that much and still got knocked around by them. Also, 6 slotted Hasten is a waste in my opinion. I only have a little more recharge than you and I often find myself reaching permahasten thanks to the FF +rech proc in Footstomp. -
Fire/Earth would be decent I guess, but Fire/Psi and Fire/Fire would still be better choices in my opinion.
-
I never got the concept of blind SG invites. I mean wouldn't you want to actually know the person just a little bit before letting them join your group, or at least have the courtesy of asking first? That might be asking too much. To each their own.
-
It was certainly a good try. All the teams did great during the first wave, my team (yellow spike) took down the yellows pretty fast. Although, when we were taking down the other mitos I was mostly explaining to the Brutes with taunt on my team what to do.
And I agree Net that the taunter should have started with more EoE's, but I gave them 5 more or so before we actually started attacking Hami. All in all I had a good time regardless and I will gladly help out again whenever we try this again. -
I'm not sure it could have been done that way anyway since there were 3 sets of mitos spawned.
