    Rogues and Vigilantes will only get reward merits.

    Heroes and Villains who "confirm" their alignment by running 10 tips of that alignment and then a special morality mission at the end, receive 50 reward merits the first time, and then 1 Hero/Villain merit every time after that. With a Hero/Villain alignment also comes access to the alignment-only trading bases that Rogues and Vigilantes cannot enter.

    All you have to do to get tips to drop is just kill enemies who are 20+. So running your normal missions or street sweeping large groups in a 20+ zone (grey hazard zones are excellent for this blueside) should net you your 3-tips that fill up that contact. Doing those three should net you your last two. If you've got your difficulty low and/or stealth/speed, you can do 5 tips in an hour and a half tops, depending on the speed tips drop for you. 1 Alignment merit will buy most recipes, 2 will buy all the very desirable oranges.

    Purples and PvPs really aren't worth the time involved to buy them with merits - you're better off doing straight-up farming for the influence to buy them.
  2. Right now is a bad time to look at the market. Most people are ToTing, which means they're not getting common salvage or recipes in any sort of quantity.

    The addition of Alignment Merits also tweaks the situation. By spending 2 days doing tip missions, one can get a hero merit. Trade 50 reward merits and 20 million influence for another. Then buy almost any good rare recipe they want - oblit triples, LOTG +recharge, Numina unique, etc. That means that a lot of farmers are working on alignment merits on one character and then the next, rather than farming large maps for random drops and putting everything they find on the market.

    Also, most people who sell on the market have realized that you can sell a recipe for 5000 if you're lucky, and you can craft that same recipe and people will pay 1m or more for it, over the cost of salvage, so less recipes get put on the market.

    Personally, I've been running missions and dumping common salvage on the market this week because it's making a killing. It should settle down a bit when the Halloween event is over though.

    OSA - Seriously?

    My stupid Fly Trap booked it off of the OSA, over an edge and into an entirely new group of mobs, which it then dragged back to us and got our butts whipped.

    Allies in AE maps will frequently flee the area when an OSA is used and go aggro some other mobs and die, or simply vacate the area entirely (this is super fun on characters with fly on an outdoor map :-/) and never return until you physically fetch them again.

    Seriously, OSA shouldn't be allowed in a controller secondary if pets are going to act this way. I refuse to believe this is WAI
  4. Heh, since I pretty much play exclusively blueside (all my Praetorians went to Paragon, all my former villains are now in Paragon) I can say no, but my characters ARE all arranged by level.

    I've only got one left in single digits and all my slots are full *sniffle* They grow up so fast!

    I've actually gotten them both ways - from clicking the door and from defeating ToT mobs. It has to be a door mob though, not a regular one, and you have to be wearing the costume.
  6. Almost always. If I can't get the costume "right" for the concept in my head, I often can't roll the chararcter at all!

    Now, the costume may change and evolve, and I certainly change the look a bit from costume to costume, but I have to have the basic costume "down pat" before I ever let them step into Galaxy City!

    OSA - Seriously?

    This still hasn't been fixed?

    Friendly pets and allies flee out of OSA like - pardon the phrase - their ***** were on fire and their hair were catching. This can be extremely damaging to a soloing controller with a TA secondary, or a TA partnered with a troller.

    OSA is a huge part of TA's damage abillity - why do they allow TA as a controller secondary and let bugs like this go unresolved so long?

    Has this been addressed by the devs and put on a known issue list at all?

    No thank you. I shouldn't be obligated to run a TF in order to provoke an event so that my lowbie character can have the weapon he should have been able to start the game with. Not to mention that involves IMMEDIATELY dropping team, swapping characters, and trying to get to the appropriate zone and snag a team before the bomb phase is over.

    Also, I've had no problem whatsoever getting teams for the zombie and banner badges. There isn't enough interest in every zone, but if you see the announcement in Atlas, Galaxy, Steel, PI or Talos, you can be pretty nearly guaranteed participation if you want it.
  10. Frankly, I don't bother futzing or fighting. I stealth/speed to the end, kill the boss, click the badge and go. Any time I've stopped to futz, it's taken far longer than the time bonus I got from the futzing.

    I could not disagree with this more. Unless the Rikti costume parts are uncoupled from the invasions, then there's no way I want them decreased. As it is, on Virtue, by the time the event notice goes up, I log out, log into my Rikti-weapon-wanting character and boogie to the zone in question and get a team, the bomb phase is over. Easy enough to get the number-killed and the heavy badges, but that UXB badge is killing me. Frankly, I want Rikti events INCREASED and I'm thrilled that we've got an Invasion weekend coming up.

    Ignoring of course the whole element of the other gender that was also killed. Cause you know, no one cares about the men who where killed as well. The book after all does say that women are more often witches than men. Mostly because it came around in a time where men had thought they were the ones in charge.

    However now we live in a time where we get offended over everything because it has some connection to this one time that this thing happened that was bad. Thus is the major reason people are upset over the title of the badge and the way it is earned. So they want to sweep the bad part of history under the rug, even though several people here have now been educated on it. (Though everyone already "knows" at least a little bit about the witch trials.)

    I for one am offended by the title and I didn't say ANYTHING about gender. I'm perfectly aware of the nature of the Spanish Inquisition and who was killed by it.

    HOWEVER, why don't you read that Wikipedia post that was linked. The book on witchhunting was specifically about hunting down female witches because of their sexual congress with the devil and original sin.

    So very very agreed.

    And what better reason to revamp old content than creating new content for it?

    By the way...the new Posi TFs are quite popular...
    Only if you'd also be okay with, upon completion of that arc, becoming attackable by all other player characters. After all, "canon" members of the Carnies can be beaten up and sent to to the Zig for doing nothing more than standing on the sidewalk with their arms crossed, doing nothing :P

    Not everyone wants a Carnie sash in order to be a carnie. Lots of people want a Carnie-style sash to be a gypsy, or a pirate, or a Kheldian, or...

    I hate to say this, but I strongly agree with GG on this. This is in extremely poor taste and has been complained about many times in the past.

    Unlocking costumes is one of the worst parts of this game. All costumes should be available to everyone from level 1, full stop.

    Definitely /bug it, my gaming partner and I have 3-4 leveling pacts running, and I have one with my husband's account as well.

    The first issue to introduce new costume pieces was i2, which introduced capes.

    The first paid booster was Sept 06, which was the GvE pack and included the GvE options separate from the combined game.

    No one's done it yet. They just like to trust vague memories and even vaguer assertions about what that means for the future.
    Uh, I did it. It's just that everyone is ignoring it. :P Look back one page.
  23. The biggest problem with this thread is the title. The entitlement kind of falls out of it from there.

    "Normal" boosters? This IS a normal booster. Seeing as how there has never been any set manner in which boosters are released or the contents of them, what is normal? It isn't a Super Booster, it shouldn't include a power.

    From the Origins Discussion thread...

    Sept 04, i2 - Capes and brooches
    May 05, i4 - Costume pieces (unspecified)
    $ Oct 05, i6/CoV - many costume pieces if you bought CoV
    June 06, i7 - New costume parts and revamped pieces (unspecified)
    $ Sept 06 - GvE items released in an item pack
    Nov 06 i8 - chest emblems, new pieces and revamped pieces
    July 07, i10 - costume tweaks, female bunny tail, earned Vanguard pieces
    Nov 07, i11 - weapon customization, new hairstyles
    $ Feb 08, Wedding Pack
    May 08, i12 - unlockable roman costumes, Rularu/Talsorian/Roman weapons
    $ Sept 08 - Cyborg Pack
    Oct 08, i13 - day job costume options
    $ March 09 - Valkyrie/Mac Pack
    April 09, i14 - waist capes for female widows, Valkyrie DB options
    $ April 09 - Magic Pack
    June 09, i15 - Vines and Ulterior costume overlays, new cc emotes, new faces
    $ July 09 - Superscience
    Sept 09, i16 - power customization
    $ Nov 09 - Martial Arts
    April 10, i17 - animated tails, reflective parts
    $ June 10 - Mutant Pack
    Aug 10, i18 - combat-only auras
    $ Aug 10, Going Rogue - clockwork, sport, PPD sets
    $ Aug 10, GR complete - alpha & omega
    $ Sept 10 - Party Pack
    $ Nov 10 - Origins Pack
    Nov 10, i19 - firefly & snow aura at least

    The fact is that we HAVE been getting tweaks and additions trickling into the game for free the entire time the game has been out. However, it's never been a giant flood, and in very few cases have they been whole sets. The wiki didn't list when/which issue Jester, Stealth or ExProto came out, and Vanguard and Roman pieces are free but unlockable. Regardless, the dev team has very rarely put out full sets of anything.

    Frankly, putting this list together made me MORE willing to shell out my $10 for the Origins pack. Seeing all the work they've put in, remembering playing at i0, and seeing how they've picked up steam to add more to the game in a more timely manner over the last 2 years just makes me want to support them all the more.
  24. Pretty sure that the tips system is separate from GR, but the Morality system isn't.

    There have been occasional releases of a bunch of free costume pieces, the civilian/day job pieces being the most recent that comes to mind, but there was never some sort of golden age where all new costume sets were gratis and supplied with every issue.
